After reading BluesLover's post, I see his point. Didn't really think of the concept of keeping the flags as they are until he said something. I really like Reiny's concept with the flags as they are. Or perhaps a ring of smaller flags representing all of the countries that have members here (if that's even possible) As for me...I can't even draw a circle so don't look here for any submissions.

Just had a drunk going the wrong way on a local Parkway for about 3 miles hit a car head on and kill the driver. Right now he's charged with Vehicular manslaughter but he's probably looking at Murder 2 since the DA in that county was able to convict another drunk in a similar situation a few years ago. We'll see.

I have a problem with anything that calls for more serious punishment for killing a biker. I think that someone who kills ANYONE while driving a vehicle should be punished (if found to be at fault ) regardless of the vehicle they were driving. Someone's life is no more or less precious whether they're driving a Hummer or a Venture. Just my opinion

In 21 plus years of writing accident reports I rarely have one where the driver who is at fault takes full responsibility. To me, this sounds like just the case. Instead of admitting that she is totally at fault, she chooses to deflect some of the blame onto 'confusion' caused by the modulator. Inexperience ...most likely.....distraction...probably.........but there is no way anyone with half a brain can't tell the diffeence between a modulator and a turn signal.

Ya know I feel so helpless.....I am SO wishing I lived closer just so I could DO something for the family. I feel so helpless. . . Once again it has me thinking of Brad's post a few weeks ago about how much everyone here has come to mean to me. . . This will be a dark few weeks ...................

I put Metzlers on my Voyager a year or so before I got the Venture, put quite a few miles on them, even rode up to Canada 2 up and fully loaded, even 500 miles in a monsoon and loved them. After reading the reports here, when the time came to replace them on my RSV, I decided that I would not take a chance and got the Avons, I absolutely love them and don't worry about inherent problems with the tires. This is not to say I won't consider them in the future, AFTER they work out their issues.

I put the levelling links on mine this year and the difference is great. I personally don't like the idea if a smaller front tire, but to each his (her) own.

I've seen this bike in person. It is unbelievable. If I had the money and the room, it WOULD be mine.

Just read this...dont know what to say. Words fail me. Our deepest deepest condolences to all involved.

I've seen them at a demo....interesting concept. It has a halyard that connects to the bike, when pulled it inflates, kinda like the kill switch on a jet ski. Even after the demo I was skeptical. Nice idea if it works as well as it seems to have in this case.

I'm waiting for them too....I've got alot planned so the sooner I have dates the better. One of my vacations is already tied up with the family cruise in Feb.. so between Maintenance Day, the International Rally and our annual 'Big Trip' (this year, I think it's Nova Scotia) we have a full plate. So GET DEM DATES IN!!!!!!!!

This is just a few of the calls I've had to deal with this week. Fake bomb found in Cutchogue church A beer can filled with change and rags sent the Suffolk County Bomb Squad to a Cutchogue church yesterday morning, Southold police said, after a priest found the item wrapped in electrical tape in the church's donation basket. The Rev. Marian Bicz of Our Lady of Ostrabrama, a Roman Catholic church on Depot Lane, said the 9:15 a.m. service had just ended when he and other church personnel discovered the item. "I just put it outside and called the police," he said. "It was a little scary, but nothing happened, thank God." Members of his congregation had already left, Bicz said. Bomb squad members found the can after they unwrapped the tape, police said. Bicz said he has no idea who could have left the item at the 100-year-old church, which has about 800 families. Then there was this; Cops: Greenport man had fake grenade in bar October 7, 2007 http://m1.2mdn.net/viewad/817-grey.gif A man with a penchant for French fries and bizarre talk caused a scare and evacuation of several Greenport restaurants and bars Friday night when he threatened to pull the pin on what turned out to be a fake grenade, authorities said. Southold Town police arrested John Burezyk, 54, of 506 Main St., Greenport, and charged him with placing a false bomb or hazardous substance, a felony. Burezyk walked into the Rhumb Line Restaurant on Friday night at about 8:50, put a old wooden ammunition box on the table and ordered a basket of French fries and a glass of water, said Terri Schultz, the waitress who served him. He wasn't drinking here. He said that he had just finished a White Russian someplace else," Schultz said. "He must have had more than one, because he was a little out there." Schultz, 41, of Mattituck, said Burezyk ate a couple of fries, paid and left the restaurant, but returned about 15 minutes later and took a seat at the bar. He ordered another basket of fries - which he didn't eat - and mingled with patrons. "He kept saying he was a prisoner of war in Africa, stupid stuff like that," Schultz said, adding that she had never before seen Burezyk, who wore a gray sweat shirt, camouflage-print shorts and boots. His behavior turned from odd to frightening, she said, when Burezyk pulled an oblong-shaped cylinder from his pocket. "He said we should meet him next door at the Whiskey Wind Tavern and he would wait for us to get there before he pulled the pin," she said. Schultz said she had had enough of Burezyk's antics and asked the bartender to throw him out and call police. Southold Town police officers and the Suffolk County Police Department's bomb squad arrived at about 9:30 p.m. and evacuated about 40 people from the Rhumb Line, as well as those in several other establishments on Front Street. Police could not say how many people were evacuated. Bar patrons and others were allowed to return about three hours after the incident began, Schultz said. Burezyk could not be reached for comment yesterday. Southold Town police could not provide arraignment information. I'm afraid to go to work tomorrow..........

Heck, my nuts fell off (my seat) a long time ago and I haven't had time to replace them. I guess I'll have to get to it.

Good for you Dan, at least you won't have to worry about who rents it next.

If You Have Not Done This, You Should Try It!
VTirelli replied to SledgeHammer's topic in Watering Hole
That's exactly the trip we took this summer, weather didn't cooperate on the Blue Ridge as it was raining so hard we decided to Interstate it until it cleared, but what we DID ride was spectacular. Loved the Cherahola too. definitely in our plans to do again. -
Beautiful ride Chuck!! Looks like you really lucked out finding that one.
