  1. I'll tell yas what, if you want it, send me the $$ for a ticket and I'll buy it for yas.. If you win, I will be MORE than happy to keep it here in the garage, til something can be worked out for delivery.....no hurry on delivery.....take your time picking it up......just remember...it has to be driven every once in a while so I guess I can tough it out and drive it every now and then.... (My son actually wants to go halves on however many tickets I buy. Yeah right, like I'd let HIM drive it!!)
  2. Hmmmmmmmmm...........looks like I MIGHT have a project for next year's MD after all. I don't mind playing with most things but I really don't trust myself with brakes.
  3. I am on the fund raising committee for my Fire Department. Last year,we got a deal from a local dealer and raffled off a brand new Cadillac, sold all the tickets and made a bit of money. This year, we decided to do something a bit different. A local collector agreed to sell us a 1970 Chevy Chevelle, 350ci with a 4 speed, fully restored and gorgeous. So I guess I'll be investing quite a few bucks in raffle tickets.$100 a pop, only 500 tickets printed. Might be expensive if I win, gotta build a bigger garage.:fingers-crossed-emo:fingers-crossed-emo
  4. if you get to be a few short, let me know and I will buy some more.
  5. I believe that they are little posts that stick about an inch or so off the bottom of the boards. I've seen them, just don't know where or what bike they were on.
  6. Did it 2 years ago,got the shirt and won't be doing it any time soon. First mile or 2 is a breeze as you're in the treeline. View is great but concentrate on your driving. We did most of it in 1st gear (up AND down). Cars and vans were a real PITA. I was informed by my lovely wife that if I EVER want to do it again, I WILL be doing it alone.
  7. Geeez Bob STOP!!!! But you know what they say, bad things come in threes, so hang on to your hat for the next one, then you're home free!! Good Luck
  8. Sorry to hear about your bad luck, glad it wasn't worse. I'd start training on a treadmill so you might be able to outrun your wife.
  9. Our cat was 10 when we got our first puppy (Old English Bulldog) followed 6 months later by a ShihTzu. Cat wasn't too happy at first but learned to live with them. When he died 5years later, the dogs actually were upset.
  10. Not a smoker, never was, but I've heard how hard quitting is. Not preaching, just supporting. I've actually been told by former heroin addicts that quitting heroin was easier than quitting smoking. Good Luck and keep up the good work
  11. I ride 35 one up, 50 when I'm 2 up ....seems to work for me
  12. Good Luck on the surgery Steve.....I guess you'll have alot of time on your hands during your recovery so don't be a stranger here.
  13. Got the ring in the mail today......2 days from Texas!!! Thanks alot Ponch...I REALLY appreciate it. If you ever need a favor or anything....I'm here. said it before and I'll say it again....I LOVE THIS PLACE
  14. Thank you for sharing that with us....
  15. Just to clarify that I'm not being hypocritical here, Brad DID drill out my baffles at Don's....and I asked him to do it because I like the way they sound..period. I don't think for one minute that it's going to make a difference with people seeing or hearing me on the road....oh yeah .......Brad?? BTW.....Sam says its still not loud enough!!
  16. thanks Ponch, as soon as you tell me the postage I will get it out to you. Plus, I will send something out to the VR website in your honor. Eck, I checked free stuff before I posted here, no one had anything. BUt it's great to know it's there!! Gawd I love this site!! Vin
  17. a RED pen?? Why wasn't it chrome??
  18. All I know is, I've been driving fire trucks and ambulances for 30 years, Police Cars for 23 years. We are equipped with lights, sirens and air horns. I defy ANYONE to stand in front of my engines which are equipped with mechanical sirens (not those wimpy electronic junks) while I wail the crap out of it for a minute or 2, and not get split eardums. My point?? EVERY damn day (including today), I come up on people while I have everything screaming and they don't move. I will bet anyone here a week's salary that those sirens are 3 to 4 times louder than ANY motorcycle pipes. So what would make any reasonable person think that their pipes wiill make a difference to those clueless cagers?
  19. Good to see you home again Bob. Now take it easy and do what the doc says. Might get up your way later this month.
  20. I finally got around to washing the bike after dropping it on the way home from Don's. I found that hidden under the squashed bugs, I damaged the chrome trim piece around the headlight. Not really bad but I need to replace it. Anyone have one? I'll be checking ebay as well as my thief ..I mean dealer, since I have to replace the visors and get a few extras for the rear directionals and tail light. Not sure what the dealers charge, but I hate dealing with him so I'll be looking for other places.
  21. 'Guidance" LOL............Don, I know that Sam and Eileen hit it off last year but this year was trouble. I know that she had a great time hanging with Eileen, Lonna Nancy and the rest of the girls. And the lawnmower races were somethng else...(especially watching Dan scream:rotf:). Eileen had the perfect comment to me was "If you guys lived closer, I'd be in trouble" and I agree. You are a lucky man, and I know you know it. (I guess she knows it now too)
  22. Just talked to a bunch of folks at Don's on Saturday about this. I am VERY interested in seeing what Don has to say about the Avons when he has a few miles on them. When I'm due to replace my Avons, I was actually going to consider the Michelins to see the difference. But I don't think I want to consider the Metzlers until they address this problem.
  23. Hmmmmmmmmmm..our camera died too, Sam took it out to take some pics of the crowd and it wouldn't work. Same thing, black screen. Not sure if we're going to get it fixed or just get a new one. It's not a real expensive model and it's 4-5 yrs old so it might be better to replace it.
  24. Enjoy it Jeff and ride it long and hard. I'm just glad we could be there for the presentation.
