  1. Great Videos! I just ordered the GoPro helmet cam. Hopefully it will be here next week. BTW: Info on the songs? Especially on the 2nd video. silverdeer
  2. My future wife is a fan of "Twilight" (the vampire movie) and she named the bike "Bella"
  3. Don't feel stupid...good grief ya figured it out! Stupid would be $500 worth of diagnostics at the dealership. As for the wife...well your on your own, my girlfriend still gives me grief about it. Any noise, and I am talking ANY noise I hear now in the house, car, motorcycle, etc she will say "Check the keys"
  4. This will no doubt sound dumb but you should always check everything. My 2001 Honda 750 Shadow had a tapping sound at certain speeds it seemed like it was coming from the left side, but I couldn't be sure. I even rode along with some of my friends and they could hear it. It took alot more time than it should have but we finally found the problem. The Key fob was metal and it was hitting the frame of the bike at certain speeds because of the wind. On the 750 Shadow the ignition is on the left side and low. Sometimes I do the simplest of things with the greatest of difficulty
  5. I saw those lights in Leavenworth...Now I want them for my bike!
  6. Driver's backrest and Khrome Werks exhaust with turn down tips.
  7. 41 - 44 MPG with 2 up most of the time on my 05 RSTD. Will probably get better next spring because it needs a float adjustment and possible rejet. It runs rich after adding the Khrome Werks muffler and K&N air cleaners.
  8. Great pictures and an adventure of a lifetime. Wish I could do stuff like that with my kids. Picture 15 looks like a shot from Whiteface Mountain near Lake Placid.
  9. No canopy - but I think it does come with a snowplow attachment.
  10. Thanks Sailor...I know it will grow. Patience isn't one of my better virtues, but it certainly was fun. I just ordered the GoPro wide camera so I'm ready for ANY rides, meets, functions in the future! People will either show up knowing they will get on video, or avoid coming for the same reason! Darn Witness Protection Program.
  11. Another one to cancer. Prayers....Locked...Loaded....Sent silverdeer
  12. No problem John, I enjoyed meeting you. I think the Harley riders look at this website with a bit of jealously. They really wanted to join us but they knew we were not supposed to move those heavy glass tables, right Wayde? Maybe the next one should be somewhere near you? Perhaps the Governor's Office? Or the Mount Rainier area. Actually there are some great areas near Olympia that would fit the bill. Lake Chelan would also be pretty good for an Eastern Washington site...So many options available. Thanks for showing up, I only wish the weather had not been so hot! I can't believe I just said that!?
  13. Name of Restaurant Gustavs Street Address The corner of 617 Hwy 2 and Front St, City Leavenworth State or Province WA Website (Optional) www.gustavsleavenworth.com Quality of Food Great Quality of Service Great Biker Friendly? (Parking, Trusted Location, Etc.) No Kind of Food? (Mexican, Chinese, etc.) Family mix, burgers, etc Alcohol Served? Yes Additional Comments Parking is always at a premium in Leavenworth. Do NOT attempt to park behind Gustavs because that parking lot belongs to a Hotel, and they WILL tow! If it's not real hot take the balcony because you will have great views of the mountains and all the traffic coming into and out of Leavenworth. The food was great. I had the Pepperjack burger and it was really good, but they really skimped on the fries. The fries by the way got the best reviews from others who ate there. The fish was acceptable but the tartar sauce seemed a bit "sour". The beer served by this establishment was served very cold and hit the spot because of the warm weather, it was 90 degrees + outside. Prices were actually pretty good. Lunch for 7 plus 2 rounds of drinks was $120.00. I would highly recommend this place if your ever in Leavenworth Washington.
  14. Not yet on the North Cascades Highway...But it's on my list for this year. I think the Oyster Run is the 27th of Sept, a Sunday, and I work! http://www.oysterrun.org/ I think it would look silly driving my Kia Spectra, with my leathers, and a helmet, and the girlfriend in the back seat. But hey...why not?? (LOL) Thanks for the positive note mini...The event will get bigger each time we do one. (especially when the word gets out that I footed the lunch bill)
  15. Not as big a turnout as I was hoping for, but the ones who showed up are some pretty awesome folks. The ride from western Washington (Everett) to Leavenworth started out cold and foggy. As we went over Stevens Pass the temps were in the mid 40's and I was beginning to wonder if I should have put on a snowmobile suit! At the rest area 15 miles outside of Leavenworth we had to pull over and shed some of the cold weather gear. Temps were already pushing 90 degrees. In Leavenworth we met John (Old Salt) and Wayde (67mini67) and his wife. These are some very fine people and I enjoyed meeting them. We are considering another M&E plus a maintainence day for spring/summer 2010. It must have been a motorcycle destination for lots of people because I have never seen so many motorcycles in this town. I had a great time and didn't even come close to spending as much money as I usually do while in this "Bavarian Village" Special thanks to everyone who attended and I can't wait to do this again. I'm sure it will get bigger each time we do this. Pictures are at the link below. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/album.php?albumid=488 Larry AKA - silverdeer

    First M&E 12 Sept 2009

Even tho it wasn't a big turnout, the folks that came are super people and we are going to plan another M&E and a possible Maintenance Day for next year. Lunch was pretty good and all of us left some money in Leavenworth Washington. It must have been "Bike Day" in Leavenworth because there were hundred's of motorcycles in town. Even saw a few ventures who were not members of Venture Rider, but invites were given.
