George..Should have been in Smokey Point on the 8th of July..It was wet, no thunder except for the 500 motorcycles headed northbound on I-5. Check the video, I'm the ONLY one with a yellow rain suit. I like to be seen when it's raining because you know people around here think windshield wipers should only be replaced every 5 years or so. I'm at the 56 second mark on the video. Made ya read that twice huh? Got the same thunderstorms up here in Arlington today as well. Shook the casino pretty good with a few of those thunderstorms. This is my first days back from vacation and I decided to take the cage instead of the bike. The decision seems to have been the right one! Pouring outside now.

Thanks Tom! Excellent site/prices! Never would have found that site without your link. Now to order a new GPS for the bike so I can put the Nuvi back in the car!

I have a Garmin Nuvi 200...It was on sale at the Navy Exchange for 109.99. The suction mount works real good on the windshield of my 05 RSTD. I do use cheap zip ties to keep the wire on the handlebar (just incase the suction mount "unsticks" it will stay with the bike instead of becoming roadside litter) So far I haven't had any problems with the mount. The wire comes across the tank (make sure no tension when you turn the bars full left/right) under my left leg and plugs into the 12v adaptor njust under the seat. I built my own cheap sunshield but someone posted a link to some pro made ones that should work very well. I waterproofed the unit with a layer of Saran wrap and another zip tie. The plastic wrap doesn't interfer with the touch screen and removes easily when the weather turns good.

WOW! Never saw those websites before, but the one I made has the same dimensions. Instead of angled cuts I made a round cut. Good site, I may order one for my Garmin Nuvi 200 anyways! Thanks for the link! :thumbsup2:

Unless it comes with a sun shield (or you make one) this will be a problem. I have a Garmin Nuvi and I put several small strip of Velcro along the top and sides, I left open areas for the on/off switch and the area where it clips to the mount. I then took a piece of flexible black plastic and cut out a shield that resembles a brim on a baseball cap. Then attached another small strip of Velcro to that. So far it works pretty well. I used the Garmin Nuvi because the suction mount holds to the top of the speedometer case or the windshield with no problem. To water proof it is easy: Saran wrap, doesn't interfere with the touch screen and helps to keep it dry. And of course I'm cheap and didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a new GPS with special mounts and waterproofed for a motorcycle.

Nope...Still sounds like the Turbo Waste Gate to me. As Silverdeer pulls away from Hondas and Kawasakis with a slight twist of the throttle.- 5 replies

This was an email from the Washington State PGR. Just incase someone here in Washington didn't get the info: Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard We have been invited to ride with the Brothers-in-arms and our own Former State Captain, Cowboy, to the Wall escort. The date will be July 8th 2009 Staging Area McDonald's @ the end of the 512 in Tacoma (near Eagle Leather) 10417 S Tacoma Way Tacoma, WA 98499-4648 9:30am Staging 10:00am KSU to head north The Brothers-in-Arms will be stopping @ Exit 202 for re-fueling and then proceeding to Smokey Point Rest Area (northbound I-5) to group up for the Escort. (Estimated KSU 1pm) A few things I want to go over since Neither Cullen nor I can attend. 1)While this is not a PGR mission we hope everyone will act in the high standards the PGR represents. 2)The PGR is not a MC (Motorcycle Club) but several other riders will be. Usually, MC’s ride tandem (side-by-side) because the ride next to the same guy over and over. 3)We don’t ride tandem, the PGR rides staggered. It is safer for a group of people who do not ride next to the same guy every time 4)Have fun. Respectfully, Conan PS: while this is not a PGR mission, we are finalizing an official PGR mission for a Flag Line at the opening ceremonies on Friday 7/10/09

I'll stick to the "Turbo Waste Gate" explanation as I pull away from my Honda and Kawasaki buddies! My 05 RSTD is still way better looking than their bikes and I am now used to the sound. Of course the Nasty Boy pipes are gonna make a difference as well!

After shopping around this is the policy I ended up with..For a full years coverage. It keeps Alaska Federal Credit Union happy because they are the temporary owners of the title. Washington state does not require insurance on motorcycle, but most get it anyways.
