  1. Leavenworth would be a good destination as well. I was ther a couple of weeks ago..Check the pictures on my page. Motorcycle trips If most like Leavenworth then I'm good with that...Great food too....and beer
  2. Excellent Tom...and you don't even need a passport to get into Washington! PS: I would make a ride to Texas to visit my brother in Ft Worth, but that would be too close to my ex's family...and they are scary people!
  3. Good to hear that you are recovering. Have you gained back the strength to toss flight progress strip?
  4. I am trying to put together a Ride-Meet-Eat for the 12th of September 2009. Destination will be Leavenworth, the Bavarian Village. As usual this will be weather dependent, not that we mind riding in the rain, but Seattle cagers seem to aim for us when they have to use windshield wipers! The current forecast indicates partly cloudy and high 70's to high 80's on the east side of the mountains...but this is the PNW and it could change by Wednesday. I am open for suggestions on a meeting place/time/fuel stop/and food destination. Just add to this thread and we will see what happens. Larry AKA: Silverdeer
  5. Congrats on the payoff! I felt that way when I paid off my car 2 years early. And....I'll get that loving feeling again after 40 more payments on the RSTD!
  6. 93K to go for me! Of course a trip to Maine would help with the milage,
  7. Well the monsoon and moss season is just around the corner here in the Great PNW (Pacific North West) It would be great to FINALLY have a M&E or a group ride in this area. Mount St. Helen's would be a great ride if the weather cooperates before October gets here. The Johnson Ridge Observatory closes in October. I'm looking at a ride there in the next few weeks. A ride to Mt. Rainier would be a fun trip also. And......October Fest in Leavenworth Washington. Hmmm...So many choices so few days of decent weather! :rain2::snow2::snow:
  8. I'm bear-ly able to keep up with all the grizzley stuff in this thread.
  9. The ROI would probably be good because the cost of the machine work would be passed on to the consumer. There comes a point where cost outweighs benefit. BTW: SilvrT - Are you ready for the Winter Olympics?
  10. P = People E = Eating T = Tasty A = Animals I have that Tee shirt. (don't be offended...it's all in fun, and no one will get hurt)
  11. Maybe we need to get him one of those "SPOT" GPS locators!

  13. Name of Restaurant The Pike Pub Street Address 1415 1st Ave City Seattle State or Province WA Website (Optional) www.pikebrewing.com Quality of Food Fantastic Quality of Service Fantastic Biker Friendly? (Parking, Trusted Location, Etc.) No Kind of Food? (Mexican, Chinese, etc.) Pacific Northwest flair - salmon to steak to burgers Alcohol Served? Yes Additional Comments This place can be a bit tough to get to. It's located at the Pike Street Market Place in downtown Seattle. Parking, at best, is extreamly difficult but once you find a place and make it back to the pub. Well...the hunt was worth it. Pike Street Brewery is a micro-brewery and they produce some fine beer. Start with their sampler pack...6 - 3oz samples of their best beers. This is an awesome place to go before a Mariner's game or a Seahawks game.
  14. WOW!! I know my Canadian friends are showing prices in Canadian dollars but that really seems high. I have Progressive insurance and I pay 228.00 (USD) full coverage for a 1 year policy, and $12.00 of that is for roadside assistance. Using current exchange rates you guys are close to 550 - 600 (or more) a year US. And add to the fact that your riding season is a bit shorter than ours as well. Someone is making lots of money north of the border.
  15. There were so many suggestions: Which settings did you use for this picture?
  16. Good Job! Excellent photo. I have a picture of 6 moons that my siblings and I did when our Mom wanted to take our picture. I would put it on here but Freebird keeps reminding people it's a PG site. :no-no-no:
  17. Double check to see if the fit the passing lights (bottom part) even tho I check them pretty often, they seem to disappear sometimes. Actually had to use a bandaid from the first aid kit to hold one of the lamps together one night while coming home from work.
  18. I get the same response! I fly a 3X5 American flag on my RSTD. Even when it's soaking wet and it's windy - I don't even know it's back there. I only fly the flag on the motorcycle for PGR missions and on 9/11. Just to remind people and jog their memory
  19. Prayers...Locked...Loaded...Sent! For the both of you.
  20. Prayers for a speedy recovery....Locked......Loaded......Sent
  21. The company that makes Roboform also has a program called Roboform2go..This holds all your passwords on a thumb drive. Just for grins and giggles I asked Roboform to make a password for this site...of course I didn't hit the last key to make the new password and here is what it came up with: zlhL3H3aRhM9dczbsUemvJ3i7Yp I don't have to remember this password it automatic and encrypted. All I have to do is remember 1(one) password that opens up Roboform. After that click on the site I want to visit and it enters the saved password plus logs me into the site.
  22. I use "ROBO FORM" 1 password to log in, it's encrypted, and keeps track of all my passwords. http://www.roboform.com/
  23. Well I added the MotorKote as per manufactures directions on Saturday the 22nd of August. Prior to putting it in the bike I took some sound readings at idle. My other hobby, and don't laugh, is Ghost Hunting. I have a digital recorder and a software program on my laptop that allows me to isolate sound waves, remove white noise, etc. I placed the recorder 10 feet in front of the bike, then 10 feet to the right side, then rear, then left side, these would be my baseline readings. Even tho the software does not give me DB readings it still provides visualizations of peaks and valleys. I then took the bike for a 20 mile ride around Camano Island with the recorder wrapped in a wind sock and placed on top of the speedometer. I have now put close to 300 miles on the bike and decided to take some sound readings again this morning. I did the same readings as the first set and have loaded it into my laptop and did some comparisons. There has been a slight reduction in idle engine noise from all 4 locations (front, sides, and back). The biggest change was during the 20 mile ride. Slight reductions in the engine whine as I go thru 1st and 2nd gear. Moderate reductions in 3rd gear at ~40mph, slight reduction at any RPM in 4th, and a major reduction in the whine in 5th gear at speeds around 60mph and up. My bike really had the whine in 3rd gear while close to 35 - 40mph. During todays ride it was barely noticeable. 5th gear whine used to be very noticable at almost any speed. I have heard NO whine at all in 5th while coming to work today. The clutch has not slipped one bit and the "clunk" with the first shift into 1st gear in the morning is a lot less noticeable, still there but the bike doesn't jump. I think it is too early to determine if the gas milage has been affected or not. I had been averaging 42.5 mpg before the MotorKote and the last 2 tanks have been 42.8 and 42.7. I'll do another update when I get to 750 miles with the MotorKote. Hopefully the weather here in the Pacific Northwest doesn't turn crummy too soon. IMHO this product seems to work, so far.
  24. I have the same flashlight and it was a simple conversion. My son (a C.O. at Green Haven Correctional in NY) sent me the small mag lite with the 3 LED's and your right...It is bright!! Would be nice to have something that simple for the back of my bike, especially since I get off work at 11pm and it's always dark outside.
  25. Marcal is right. I tried to do this by myself...and it took 5 years! Finally coughed up the money and got a lawyer. It really affected my current relationship and caused a few arguements between myself and the new lady in my life. You are handicapped as well if your in the military. Uncle Sam just LOVES to garnish your paycheck and they don't care how tough it is on you. Hopefully if you are in the military you won't be affected by the Former Spouse Protection Act. I now get to give up 1/2 of my retirement check to my ex for the rest of my natural life. Don't worry about the money at this point...do what needs to be done NOW...The rest will fall into place.
