Rick Butler is GREAT and HD Isn't For Me!!
silverdeer0454 replied to lshafer's topic in Watering Hole
No problem Rick. It's snowing here - March 19th near Seattle, and it's in the mid 50's and sunny in Maine! Not happy with the weather gods at this point. -
You also may want to take a look at this website - it compares prices for Orbitz, Priceline, Expedia, etc. www.kayak.com Sorry to hear about your brother and I pray he recovers. Prayers.....Loaded.....Locked.....Sent

Rick Butler is GREAT and HD Isn't For Me!!
silverdeer0454 replied to lshafer's topic in Watering Hole
Just got an email from UPS...My seats have arrived in Wylie Texas! Hopefully I get them back next week or so. Looking forward to checking out the work Rick does, but given everything that has been said about his work on this site, I'm sure it will be great!! -
Getting the run around from the dealer so I don't think I'll worry about finding out about where it came from.

When I purchased my 05 RSTD I was told it was a repo with no maint history. While looking through the owners manual I found a little sticker that has the model number, Primary ID, and Dealer number. Is there a data base that I can use to find out who the original dealer was? The dealer number is: 320670

Just wondering if anyone has heard from Rick Butler recently? I sent him an email because I wanted to get the seat on my 05 RSTD done, but I don't want to send it if he's on vacation, enjoying the weather, or booked solid with other things. Rick if your out there let me know if I can send it to you or if I should wait.

Impressed with the 100 LED rear light.

http://www.venturerider.org/forum/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=2687 Not doing real good posting pictures but here is the link of my 100 LED tail light compared to the smaller unit offered by custom dynamics. -
I had the same issue with the fingers but I solved the problem with these: http://www.qwinerveprotector.com/MotorcycleGlove.html I paid $38.00 for the style with full fingers and the cuff. Highly recommended!

Thanks Squidley and Goose. BTW: Goose I found the thread on how to identify a bad coil and the spark plug caps. Going to check that as well this weekend.

I have a 2005 RSTD with Khromewerks exhaust, K&M air filters, and no other modifications. Over the past week or so I have had the following problem: When the bike sits overnight or cools down for several hours it starts but only runs on 3 cylinders until I rev the engine a few times then I can actually hear a change in the pitch of the exhaust and the other cylinder fires up. I have installed new plugs (rear only) yesterday and it still have the problem. I'm pretty sure it's getting gas because if I let it idle I can smell gas. I know its only running on 3 cylinders because I do the "touch test" on the headers. The cylinder affected is (as your sitting on the bike) the back right cylinder. After I rev the motor a few times the header gets hot like the others. It runs normally the rest of the time, it's only when it cools off that I have the issue. Using the choke doesn't really make a difference.

Should probably be in the classified section - sorry. I am not real happy with the Motion Pro syncPRO that I purchased. The fluid seems to separate in the tubes after each use and when I blip the throttle. I ordered a Morgan carb tune pro unit and it will be here in another week or so. If any member wants to send me $40 (check or money order) I'll send the Motion Pro to them. The $40 includes shipping. First post gets the unit. There are no instructions but it should be easy to download and the unit is complete.

(Parking, Trusted Location, Etc.) Yes Kind of Food? (Mexican, Chinese, etc.) American Alcohol Served? - Additional Comments Great new place in Sedro Woolley with good food and an easy access location. I had the Bacon Burger with fries. They load up the fries! The burger was pretty good. My wife had the Chef salad and it was piled high, she wasn't able to finish. My friend (who showed us this place) had fish and chips. According to him these were the best fish and chips he has had in years. I do not know if they serve alcohol, but the milk shakes were awesome!!

Gas shooting out of carbs after storage
silverdeer0454 replied to mtuckner's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
That video is pretty telling about the amount of gas that pours out of the bike. Hopefully the guys on this site will view it and have some ideas for you. -
Here's the note I sent: A member of www.ventureriders.org posted positive comments about Jay Conaway, the owner, mechanic Bill Colvin and the guys at Yamaha of Cucamonga. It's great to hear positive stories about dealerships and positive notes go a very long way with our group. Thanks for helping a member of our group. Here's their response: Lawrence, Thanks for the kind words. It really gets old seeing all the *****ing going on about other dealers and it is really a shame for the industry. Hopefully the other dealers will wake up. It has been our goal for over 35 years to make everyone happy with their experience here. If there’s ever anything we can do for your group, never hesitate to let us know. Thanks Again! Jay Conaway Yamaha of Cucamonga The Yamaha Experts

I just went to their website and sent an email thanking them for helping a member. It's great when we get positive notes about dealerships. Narrows down who we will go to in the future.

The closer you get to Lake Placid the higher the motel/hotel prices. There are several good places to stay in Plattsburgh just off the interstate. The road from Plattsburgh (Route 9 to 9N through Keeseville to Jay is an excellent ride. Lots of curves, turns, and great scenery. The distance from Plattsburgh to Lake Placid is about 50 miles and the Plattsburgh area is full of history.

Thanks for all the prayers and wishes. My Mom is now in NYC with my Dad, my sister, and 2 brothers. One of my brothers worked at Ground Zero for a couple of weeks after 9/11; at the time he was an iron worker. They are helping Mom with her Bucket List: Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, Central Park, Ellis Island, Times Square, and the Empire State building. Later in the week they are going to the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut to hit the casino.

Thanks Kevin I'll do that. I just wonder why I got crappy mileage on this set of tires. My co worker wonders if the tire might not have been aligned correctly when I had the dealership lube the splines and shaft several months back. I'm at a loss but I don't want to toss out $400 for tires every 5 to 6 k miles.
