On my first gen, I replaced the TCI at about 145,000 miles. I fried the stator and regulator at about 135K but it was my fault. Miscellaneous maintenance up to that point. My second gen, bought with 22K on it, currently 50K, I just replaced the rear brake pads. Nothing else other than routine stuff. My radio is starting to act up now and then but I can live with that, still under warranty until 11/09.

Amen brother!

If I take the bike in to the shop it's $75. If I take it to Predock's it's free but you have to listen to his stories all day

check out http://www.newenough.com . They have lots of good boots, especially on the closeout page and we can get a buck for every purchase there.

Good for you, Gary!

Thanks Gary. As you know, there are a few of us here in the same situation. The reality is far worse than your worst nightmares can ever be. I thought I had a handle on this emotion stuff, but it really hit me today. I don't reach out like I should but when I do, the VR.org is there for me. All of you here have been so helpful and kind and willing to put up with me. I can't say it enough, you are truly the finest family a guy could have. I have been blessed to be associated with all of you and I know Debbie felt the same way. Ramona, you just don't know how much I appreciated the photos and memories I have from this wonderful group of misfits! Thanks everyone for all your support, prayers, and friendship.

Yeah another 25 HP, that's what I need! If you can still throw those old legs over that Kaw, we'll just have to run them and see:rotf:. Ok so maybe you have 60+ HP on me but it will still be fun

According to http://www.freeengineinfo.com/v-strom.htm "The DL1000 v-strom makes 98 hp@ 7600 RPM, 75 ft/lbs torque@ 6400 RPM and gets 47 MPG." Don't know if that's RW HP or flywheel, but still enough for me! Suzuki did take the engine from their sportbike, TL 1000 I believe.

Four days from now will mark a year since you left for Heaven. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you and weep for the hole in my heart. I know that you are at peace now and your demons are finally conquered. As the day draws closer, I still wonder why this all had to happen. What could I have done to prevent this? I know in my heart that when God wants you to be with Him, that it is time. That doesn't make it any better. We all still miss you so much. As the saying goes "time heals all wounds" but I'm not sure that I'm healing too well, just coping a tiny bit better than I was a year ago. The day to day struggle with life has gotten better, but oh how I miss my best friend and partner. There are so many things that I wish we could have enjoyed together this past year. You would have loved the Colorado Rockies and the trip into Canada. Even though I know it would have been too hot for you! I have plenty of pictures and memories that I will share with you when we see each other again. I'm so happy that you got to be a part of this club. They are more than a bunch of Yamaha riders, they are truly our family in the finest sense of the word. Without the love and friendship that I have gotten here, I don't know how I would have made it. I know that every time I get on the bike that you are there with me and watching over me. Even when I do something stupid you are there for me, and I still do plenty of stupid stuff. The pain will always be there but the good memories are there as well and all I have to do is remember them to bring a smile to my face. Until we see each other again, always know, I love you Debbie.

Is[/url] that what your going to bring to the next International Meet Al. :confused24:Wonder what would happen if we were to take our RSV's and put a nitrous oxide system on it. I know one thing, the rear tire would go from lasting 9,000 miles down to less than a thousand, lol. I think I'll stick with the RSV! If I need go fast I have the V Strom with the same HP as the RSV and about 400 lbs less weight. That sucker can move along just fine for me.

Gary, like Squid said, it's a special present for you. The good memory is a bonus! Debbie has been gone nearly a year now and I still get surprised about what brings back certain memories and good feelings. Best wishes my friend and call if you ever need to talk.
-
Gee you guys, What won't you do for a little attention? OK OK, I'll lighten up. Glad you are doing better than you have a right to. I'll call you later today. Heal quickly and get back out there. Maybe you want an '04 white? Let's see, I sell the 04 and the V-Strom and get an FJR or similar. Maybe a win/win :whistling:for both of us! You're probably safe as long as you stay away from the 99s.

Thanks for the link Diane. I believe that the roads and scenery in NW Arkansas and SE OK are among the best in the country. Just ask anyone that has made it to Eureka Springs and HWY 123 (?) with the 10mph switchbacks! My company is considering opening a clinic in Branson and I am thinking of going there just to be that much closer to all that good riding!

I was there for the 2nd annual. It is a ride you do to say you've done it (and I have the T-shirt! ) Hundreds of people come from hundreds of miles to eat there on this run. I think it started with an MTF member so lots of LD riders show. The burgers are good, the people are real riders. When I went it didn't get over freezing all day and I left home at around 5am!

Great picture. I think I'll go bleach my eyes now!

Here in St. Louis, it's been hard to find 100% gas for a while. I just saw the news and we really are going 10% across the board starting 2008. I have always gotten better mileage, say 10% or so, with the real gas without ethanol.

Thanks Don, and right back at you! Hope you have a good few days off, enjoy!

I don't care where he is as long as Lonna is there with the cheesecake! I just finished off the last piece of raspberry/pomegranet/chocolate chip cheesecake. MMM MMM MMM good!

Lowell, Merry Christmas to you my friend! Stop on by if you get within ..... oh 500 miles or so!

Hey, Really, I wasn't there! I don't know what to believe of this story. The 1%ers usually don't bother the citizens here. The stunt riders do however tend to get on our nerves. St. Louis has some of the most inattentive drivers I have ever seen. It seems I get to play chicken with the cages every day I'm up on 2. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the cage was doing something stupid (and probably doesn't even know it) That said, there is no excuse for the bikers actions. Another local story reported the cage as having bricks thrown at them. How may sport bike riders carry bricks with them? How many cagers do we irritate when we ride in a group of 8-10 much less 50? There is much more to this story that hasn't come out I'm guessing. Ride safe!

I picked it up Friday. Good thing as I got called in to work Saturday and missed the MTF lunch. I put about 150 miles on today. WOW what a ride. Figure the same horsepower and just a touch less torque than the RSV but in a package 400+ pounds less. Way better handling by far. My problem now is to enjoy that handling. I can go into curves a lot faster on the V Strom . Going to take some getting used to but I'm sure I'll figure it out. Of course it has a way different seating position but so far the sit up and beg position seems like it will be OK. The previous owner left a "mixit" with the bike, so I just plugged up my XM radio and I even had tunes . At this point I'm will keep both bikes but don't be surprised if I show up to a VR meet on a Suzuki. This is going to be fun!
