Hi Everyone - Well my wife and I had the same problem with feeling top heavy. So we added a voyager kit and just love it. It is so nice not to have to worry about gravel, grass, is the road sloped here where I need to put my foot, etc. It is hard to steer, you just have to put some muscle in it. All in all we are well pleased. Don and Ev

What is your all time favorite Detective Show?
DonWood replied to Yama Mama's topic in Watering Hole
Hi All - Well I guess I will have to admit how old I am and say The Shadow Don Wood -
Hi All: I will try to get some pictures on before long. As to the steering question - Yes it is hard to steer but you get used to it. There is no steering assist that comes with the kit. It is rough riding on a rough road but very smooth on a nice highway. But, having the ability to not worry at stops, about grass, about gravel, etc makes up for the rough ride at times. Take care all, I will try to keep you informed as to how things are doing with the voyager.

Hi Everyone - Sorry about the previous thread, I hit the wrong key. Well I got the voyager installed yesterday and am very pleased. My wife and I feel much more comfortable. Claude with Gladfellers York County Trikes got it for me and installed it. He was a great guy to work with. So, if anyone in the area of York, PA needs a voyager or a trike, or trailer, I would recommend Claude. Great guy! Well, I better quit typing so I can go riding. We love it!!

Hi Everyone:

Hi everyone: Well, I have decided to take the plunge and get a Voyager for my Venture. There is a fellow in York, PA that orders them and installs them so i can do a quick turn around. He had a very reasonable install price and he has done lots of them so I felt comfortable having him do it. As soon as he gets my deposit check (which I sent Monday morning), he will order the Voyager and once he gets it I can take the bike over to him in the morning, around 8:30am and he will have it ready for me by 5:00pm that evening. I am looking forward to getting this on, as the Venture with my wife and I both on it is a little heavy for me and I don't feel that comfortable. By myself I am ok, but when I add my wife on it is just too heavy for me. Oh well, I guess that happens when you get older but still want to keep riding. Take care everyone. Don

Hi Dave - Since you have installed voyagers I will take you up on your offer of answering questions. I tried to give you a call this afternoon but no answer. I will try you again later. I just don't know whether to get one or not and need to get folks thought on them. Thanks for the help, will be in touch. Don

Hi Craig: Thanks for the invite, we will have to get together sometime and meet about half way inbetween. I see from your profile that you are in Reading. Do you work, or are you retired so that weekdays would be ok for you? Take care. Don

Hi All - I am considering putting a Voyager Kit on my 2009 Yahama Venture but would sure like to see one before I do that. Is there anyone within a 200 mile radius of Chambersburg, PA that would be willing to let me come and visit to see their voyager kit? I sure would appreciate it. Thanks much. Don Wood

My 2009 RSV has been repaired and is back safe and sound in the garage
DonWood replied to DonWood's topic in Watering Hole
Hi Bob - Yep, the left saddlebag is the one part on mine that is on back order. They told me probably a couple of months, so that sounds just like mine. They one on mine was ok to leave on until the new one is ready so I got the bike and will take it back when the saddlebag arrives. Take care. Don -
My 2009 RSV has been repaired and is back safe and sound in the garage

I was going to ride some more on my way home from the dealer this afternoon, but just got to the garage, went to the mailbox to get the mail, walked back in the garage and the sky opened up with a downpour. Looks like they are forcasting rain for the next week here. -
Hi All: I had posted way back around June 11th or so that I had been rear ended on my brand new bike, only had 462 miles on it. A young fellow hit me at a traffifc light. He did close to 7k in damages. Praise the Lord, I was not hurt at all, and that my wife was not on the back. Well, I am excited, I got it back from the repair shop today. The only thing that still needs fixed is the left saddlebag which is on back order (will probably be about 2 months) Sure felt funny riding this again. The only bike I have ridden for the last 6 weeks is the small 250 that we used during the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course which I just completed last week. So glad to have it back, but now I have to get used to riding it all over again. I only had a few hours on it when I was hit. The first thing I am ordering now is some new BRIGHt stop lights. I know the young fellow saw me because I flashed the brake lights and saw him slowing down. I though he had stopped and then in about 4-5 seconds he hit me. But I want to put a brighter brake light on as I feel that one that comes with the Venture is not near large or bright enough. Oh yeah one good thing did come out of it. I was able to replace the stock mufflers with the Baron Nasty boys since the mufflers had been damaged. They were actually, even with the tips, less expensive than the stock mufflers. Take care everyone. Don and Ev Wood

Hi All - I did check with GEICO yesterday and they will insure my bike with the voyager on it. I don't know if it is because I am a current customer and not just a new customer trying to come on board or not, but they will cover it. Don

Thanks Aussie Annie for the information, I will be curious as to how the scotchguard tape works for you. When you say they don't open completely, does the lid at least open to the full upright position? Don

Thanks for the insurance info. I am with GEICO and will be sure to call and ask them. Appreciate it.

Hi Everyone - I too am considering putting a Voyager on my 2009 Venture S. I seem to remember somewhere that it said the side saddle bags would not open with the kit on. Can this be true? Does anyone have a Venture with the classic kit that can tell me for sure? That would make a big difference to me. Thanks for the info. Don

2009 RSV Top Heavy Question
DonWood replied to DonWood's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Thanks so much Goose, I really appreciate the information. I am brand new to the Venture but I understand that the front can be lowered rather easily? Once the bike is back from the repair shop from the rear ender, I think I will give that a try! -
2009 RSV Top Heavy Question
DonWood replied to DonWood's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Hi Mike - Yep I plan on putting on a brighter stop light. I had installed one that modulates when the running lights are on and flashes constantly when the brake lights are on but had replaced it with the regular bulb when I took it in for inspection. When I got home I was going to put it back in. I had checked at the PA State Police Barracks and they told me it was ok, but I did not want to take a chance on it failing the inspection because of it. Now I am going to do an even brighter one and probably add one of the bar lights to the back also. Maybe a set of air horns pointed behind me that are hooked up to a sensor unit that toot a long blast automatically if someone gets too close too fast! . That would be nice! Meanwhile I talked with both insurance companies, mine and theirs. If I don't hear back from their insurance soon, I am just going to turn it over to mine. I have GEICO and they were extremely helpful. Said not to worry, even if I turn it over to them, it will not count in any way against me since it was not my fault. I would like to have it repaired at the dealership where I purchased it since I will be taking the bike back there for all maintenance, warranty work, etc. I think that way if something in the future turns up because of the accident, it would be more likely I could get it fixed easily. Take care everyone. -
2009 RSV Top Heavy Question
DonWood replied to DonWood's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Well hi again everyone. Here I was worried about being top heavy and now I don't have to worry about it for a while. I was on my way back this afternoon from having the initial state inspection done on the bike and I was rear ended at a traffic light. Did quite a bit of damage to the bike but fortunately, I was not hurt. Little shook up, but not hurt. So, looks like I am going to miss some of the nice early summer riding time. Take care everyone. 2009 RSV Top Heavy Question
DonWood replied to DonWood's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Thanks so much Bill. I am signed up for the beginner riders course - they earliest I could get in is the middle of July. I cannot signup for the advanced until I complete the beginners but I plan on doing so. I got more practice in today as my wife and I went on the ride from Greencastle down to the Veterans Hospital in Martinsburg, WV. My daughter just called and there were 2,515 bikes involved and we raised a little over $61,000 for the hospital. It was a great day and a great ride. We enjoyed it much, and it also put me to the test - I had to ride from a crawl to up to almost 80mph to keep up, plus lots of slow manuvering in the parking lots etc with my wife on the back. I am sure with more practice it will get to the point that I don't notice it and I am sure the riders course will help a lot. Again, my thanks to everyone for your input and advice. Keep safe everyone. God Bless you all!! -
Hi All: Well, I think the fuse went on the cigarette lighter. I was using a pump to put air in the tires. It started to go then stopped. Pump works fine from my car lighter but will not work from the cycle. I understand from the manual that the fuse is under the cowl on the right side of the cycle as you are sitting on it. There are two screws (torx) and one on the bottom. I can't seem to break the two torx screws loose and didn't want to apply too much pressure for fear I would break something. Has anyone had to get into their fuse box on a 2009 Venture? I can always wait till I take it back for the 600 mile check and let them check it out, but it would be nice if I could replace a fuse Thanks in advance for the info.
