Heck, if I was going to worry about them getting damaged, I wouldn't have made the offer. They are just hanging in the garage, and truth is, I will probably never use them. So, the offer still stands,

2008 VentureRider Rally in Ontario needs your attention.

WOW... Wasn't aware that the Ontario members had formed a union... If they vote to strike, does that mean they can't ride until they get a new contract..... -
First let me say Welcome. Glad to see a few more folks from Iowa coming on line. If you can swing it, put the 2008 Pork in the Pines on your riding calander. You folks are not that far away, and it's a really great time. Now, as for used case guards. I really don't see them come up for sale too often. Nots available new, but the price is a bit much in my opinion. Will definately let you know if I come acrosss a good buy on a set. As for hiway(sic) pegs, I found that the Kuriakin off set pegs worked best for me. But again, they get a good price for them. If you are interested, I have a set of pegs that I would be willing to let you use until you find the case guard and pegs. The set I have mount to the lower frame. The mounting bracket also sticks out far enough to give you a bit of protection in the event of a roll over. So, if you would like to try them, you are more than welcome. Russell

Oh, that is so cold. And really not true. Most of the 29 folks signed up are Americans. Sure wish I could be making this one........... -
Here I am. Late as usual. Got home about 4pm Sunday. Great ride back. Aside from a couple of hiccup's the bike ran much better. It's amazing what a new fuel filter can do to performance. Averaged 40mpg going home (33 mpg on the way up). However, I suspect it was the Class 8 hurricane that I was heading into on the way up that had something to do with the poor mileage. Great to see everyone again (OK, those that showed up) but it was a great day, if you can overlook the weather, and as usual too much fun and frivolity into the wee hours. I do take exception to several comments posted here. You guys make it sound like we accomplished nothing with Brandi's bike. There were several great learning moments. 1. If you need a part up in the hinterlands, you better need it before 1 o'clock. The parts stores close at 1. 2. Dull knives cut just as quick as sharp ones... but not necessarilky what you are trying to cut. 3. Parts on Brandi's bike don't necessarily need to go back in the same spot that they came off of. and the most important think... 4. If you don't want to get stuck with all the blame, you better show up. Cuz, it didn't take us but 8 hours to figure out it was all Juggler's fault that we couldn't figure out the problem with Brandi's bike. Juggler, where waz yah when we needed some professional help running tests on the wiring circuits? Oh, and one other thing. Never ask Brandi how to connect a speedometer cable to the odometer......... Ron, we sure missed you and Linda. Do you have any idea how heavy a V-star is when you are trying to lift it to put it up on blacks? It was a fun day though...........

Check your ground.

Sorry to read about your disappointment. But it does go to validate the old saying: "All that glistens is not gold". I wonder if they actually bought the bike or acquired it in a drug forfeieture.....

Well, it looks good, and if it works as advertised, you got a real steal on it. Other than that, I have no ideal if it is a good buy. Not a fan of XM radio. Guess I'm too cheap to pay to listen to a radio........ (with the exception og public radio)

In response to your question, Yes. Life is an ever changing experience. There have been earthquakes in China, a major cyclone in Myramar, tornadoes in the Midwest. Some things never change. But we won't discuss the fact that no political party can field a good candidate......... ( Just a joke folks. No need to give yourself a wedgie) Around here, the biggest change was an upgrade of the site last week. Not sure how you were doing your search before, but you can still search for posts by an individual. Pull the name from the member list and it will give you the option of searching for all posts made by the individual. Someone a lot wiser than I may know how to do it easier, and I am sure they will jump in here soon with the correct guidance.

As long as they are on different rims, I don't think you will ever have a problem with mismatched tires.

Just my 2cents worth here. I would vote against having something show whether an individual has made a donation. I know there are several folks on the site who, for reasons beyond their control may not be able to become a supporting member no matter how much thay would like too. And on a personal note, I don't think it's anyone's business but my own whether I am or am not a supporter. Singling out those who are not supporters is one big step towards developing a "class" system. Something that we have been opposed to since da y one. But, this is just my opinion.

Check out the footwear also. Sure looks like this "rider" is wearing tennies.

OK.... I think I just ordered two T'shirts and 2 patches. Either that or I proposed marriage to some strange person in the Galapagos Islands. Thanks to all you guys (and gals) up there in the Boreal wastelands for all your efforts on this rally. BTW: Has anyone heard from Spud lately.......
-
Is there a real simple way to order T-shirts? I went to the rally stuff site and all I got was a blank E-mail screen. Also, can we use PayPal to pay for the shirts and patches? Yah gotta make it easy for us ludites..... Thanks:15_8_211[1]:

Looks like a BIG jump in registration for the 2008 International Rally. For those folks that have not made up their minds yet, this is a great opportunity to actually meet up with Don (FreeBird) and Brad (Squidley). Also, I will not be in attendance due to problems beyond my control , so it will be safe to bring your wives or girlfriends (but not both). No, wait a minute. Maybe not. I think Swifty will be there............
-
Jeez Brad..... I thought it was only scoots that needed to be put back together after you got your hands on them. Looks like your talents have grown immensely.
-
Hummmmmmmmmm. Can't be a June bug. It's only May........ At least here in the frozen flyover land.
-
I believe I have enough parts for the project. Now all I need is time to put it together.

Rick (Sarges46) and Marilyn will be stopping by Gary's (Grandpagak's place on Sat, May 17 on their way through from Tower, MN back to Brandon, Man. I will be hooking up with them to make a hand off. Brandi (Crowsnest) may also be there looking for some help with her bike if she doesn't having it running by then. So, if anyone is interested in meeting some of the other VentureRiders, stop by Gary's place on Sat for a bit of socializing (read swapping lies) and maybe doing some work on Brandi's bike, speak up and I can give some directions on how to get there.

As family issues are preventing me from attending the Ontario rally, I really don't think I have any right to say anything. But that has never stopped me before. So...... What Squidly said above is absolutely correct. The registration fee is very reasonable, in my opinion, and as stated, right in line with the Colorado costs. I suspect that many of you have had the "pleasure" of trying to put together events of this magnitude in the past. So, you know what the Ontario members are going through. For those that have not, believe me it can be a very frustration, and seemingly thankless task. I feel doubly bad about missing the Ontario Rally as I was probably the biggest pusher to get ReinyRooster to have the Ontario members host the even. And now I can't even show for it. Anyway, IF there is any way you folks can make this one, I heartily encourage you to go. You won't regret it. Even though I left Ontario many years ago (seeking fame and fortune don't you know), there really is a lot to see and do up there. And with the exception of Brad T, the folks are great people.
