With all the flooding going on in Iowa the past couple of days, thought I would check on Blusees. Called her yesterday evening. All is well with her. They have closed the University due to the flooding, but she has no flooding at her home. She was going to get on line and do a post to let all know she was okay. Then got a VM from her saying she could not get Internet access. She has access through the U. But as they are having flooding at the U, the internet is down. So, she asked that I do a posting to let anyone who is interested (and even those who are not) that she is okay. She is still waffling on the Pork in the Pines. SO, maybe some of you folks who would like to help her make up her mind, can prod her a bit on coming up for the Pork in the Pines. Besides, she is the only one with a tuned guitar.....

SeaFoam can "usually" be purchased from most auto parts stores, WalMart, and Home Depot. Bug-B-Gone is a fantastic product and works as advertised. SeaFoam donated a case of Bug-B-Gone to us for the Potato Creek Rally. Everyone that got a sample found it to be extremely effective in cleaning the bugs off windshield, headlight, farrings, etc.

John, Sounds to me like your scoot is performing about average. Of course a carb sync is always a good thing. I see you are only about 3 hours away from Laporte, MN. So, here's a thought. Come Labor Day, why don't you swing on over to the Pork in the Pines. Meet some great folks, enjoy some good food, and let someone sync your carbs.

Brad, Why would I need to convert it? As you are aware, I was born in Ontario. I know there are only two temperatures up there. Cold and Damn cold. Why do you think I moved south? Besides, if I really needed to know, I could always ask my "friends" in Alberta. (I think they are still tawking too me).

Jerry, You can inject the cleaner through the fuel line. I use a small hypodermic syringe to force it into the carbs. Then when the bowls are full, hit the starter to turn it over a couple of times to pull the cleaner into the ports. Let it sit at least 24 hours. Then drain the bowls and reattach the fuel lines. It's really a very easy process. Then, as indicated, throw (or pour) a can of seafoam into the tank and let her run.
-
Well heck, just hook up with Dan (Stardborg) from Chicago and come on over to the Pork in the Pines. We'll get your carbs tuned and anything else we can find to mess with.
-
May not be necessary to take the carbs off. Get a bottle of Yamaha Carb Cleaner from your Yamaha dealer. Don't worry about directions on the bottle. Load the carbs up with pure cleaner and let sit for 24 hours. Drain the cleaner from the carbs, put a can of Sea Foam (should be available at your local Home Deport in the garden section) in your fuel tank and run the crap out of your scoot. That should take care of any varnish fouling in the carbs and free up the floats. http://www.postsmile.com/img/summer/95.gif

Now this looks like a fun "business" trip. One of these years I am going to do the Yellowstone Trail. I have done parts of it, but not the whole way to the Wet Coast. Hope you have a great trip. http://www.postsmile.com/img/summer/95.gif

Quote "Like my buddy (White-haired ) Owl, I will not be able to attend either as I have have not yet become independantly wealthy like him." Quote Jeez Red, if I am an example of independant wealth, I'd sure hate to see the poor folk....... Have been reading this thread, and it finally came to me why Red1 has been gone from the sire for such an extended time. He has been out in the woods looking for a HUGE stick . And looks like he found it. Actually, this is now more like the majority of the threads we used to have back before we became so large. Of course we can now expect Brad T to jump in here about the large number of Ontario members and how they have the most members of any state or province. But what the h... We all saw how good he could count at Potato Creek... (Where I was robbed ). Like Red said though, any event has to be talked up... and unforetunately a lot of us were remiss on keeping the 2008 Rally threads active. As far as the cost of the event. I believe the cost of this years event is right in line with last year in Colorado. If I remember corretly, breakfast at the Lodge was $5.00 per plate. The final dinner was either $20 or $25.00 each. The rental on the Lodge was $600.00. Can't remember the price of theT's and the patchs. So, excluding the price on the T's and patchs, it came out to about $60.00. The ony difference was that it was going out a little bit at a time. For the friendships new and renewed, that is a cheap price to pay in my opinion. And, in the final analysis, it's the ride and the riders that make these events. Now, since I am not able to attend this year, I'll shut up and sit down. But you go Red1......

Thanks guys. One of the best things about this site is that no matter how off the wall the question, someone will have a viable answer. Took Rod's advice and checked out Handy Recovery. Unfortunately, that program was not capable of pulling up all the photos. BUT, when I did a program comparison, I cam across a program called PhotoRecovery. Ran a demo on that one and it was able to pull up all the photos. So, thaks to this great group, my problem has been solved and I did not need to go back out and reshoot everything. And No Brad, my VCR is not blinking 12:00. That's what Duct tape was made for.....

Tried to down load one of my camera flash cards. The card shows I have photos stored on it, but I am getting an error message saying the card or file is corrupted and they can't be opened. Is there anyway to save the photos that are on the card? Need real simple instructions........... Thanks in advance Russell

Hmmmmmmmmmm. Dumb mistake. Is there any other kind.... But you are right. That could have been very nasty. But, those are the things that make us older and wiser.

Just received a call from Crowsnest (Brandi). She took her scoot into the dealership today in Fargo. Gary, you da man.... They said it was a bad pick up unit... 2 hrs shop time plus parts and she is back on the road.

Being the cynic that I am, it appears to me to be a simple way to give folks bragging rights. He/she who has the most friends wins. I also think we have started down a road that Don did not want to travel. But again, I'm just cynical.

Yeah, but you live in the Big Apple so you are used to inflated prices for everything. Us poor dumb country folk at least still like to get kissed when we get ------.

Actually, they are already sinking deep wells (30,000+) in Wyoming and soon to start in ND.

Was over in the Dells, WI yesterday. $3.97 for regular........ Would hate to see what the price would be if the oil companies were making more than 4 cents profit per gallon. And our legislators really raked them over the coals. Wonder if the oil companies provided pillows when everyone got down on their knees to kiss their a$$%.

Venture Cruise does not engage
Black Owl replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The most common cause of unintended cancellation of the speed control is a malfunction of either the clutch or brake lever switch. Next time you are out, try pushing outward on the levers and keep them from vibrating. It doesn't take much to have the lever touch the switch button and cancel the speed control. Could be as simple as a worn shoulder bolt. I had fringe on my grips, and the buffeting from the fringe at highway speed would cause the switch to cancel the speed control. -
2008 VentureRider Rally in Ontario needs your attention.

That's great. Maybe if you could let the folks know when the Yamaha rep is goping to be there, you could at least get a large turn out for the day. With all the B'n&M'ng that we do about not getting any response from Mama Yama and the lousy response from the dealers on the older scoots, it woulkd be a great opportunity to show Yamaha that there are a lot of other rider's besides the Star guys. Heck, if you could get only 50% of the Ontario members, that would still be over 200. (That is if Brad T wasn't cooking the books to make it look like there were more members in Ontario then there are in Minnesoda...) BTW: For those of us that purchased raffle tickets for the trailer. If it doesn't go and you use the money for other prizes, do we need to be present to win???? -
