So much for me being a big tuff guy----sniff, sniff, blow! now I've got water in my eyes.

My 09 gets about 180 miles before hitting reserve, and I almost always get 41 to 42 mpg with an uncorrected speedo.

I check every tank of gas I run through and I always get 41 to 44 mpg. Zipping around traffic on the way home from work I run it hard, Ya know, got to get past all the stupid people. I know the speedo is a little off so the numbers aren't really this good but this is just off my odometer. I almost always get 200 miles on every tank also.

Repacking steering and swingarm bearings
aspen60 replied to aspen60's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks Goose, i'll give the little nut under the bars a little nudge and see if that helps. Guess I won't worry about the swingarm bearings just yet. Thanks again. -
Hey, just got done with my 16000 mile oil change and I noticed in the manual it said to repack the steering and swingarm bearings. My question is is this somthing I I can do myself? The bike has yet to go to the dealer for anything, I've done all the oil changes and tire changes myself. even took the tires off the wheels and reinstalled on my own, Iv'e had the bike up on the jack and done the steering handle bar swing, can't feel any thing loose. It acts like its supposed to. I did notice today when i got off the Interstate and was braking pretty hard I got a slight vibration in the front wheel. Really don't want to take it to the dealer and leave it for two weeks like they want,(or spend way more money than I have to fix it)

YAOQ - Yet another oil question(s)
aspen60 replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have used Rotella oil early on now I'm using Mobil 1 can't tell any difference. I like them both. I use the Puralator filter PL14610, You can also use the PL14612 but the 14610 is a little longer (just a little more filter area) But Wallyworld doesn't sell the filter in my area, I get it from an auto parts store. -
Okay, stupid question, I had a couple bolts fall off the scooter and I'm trying to go through the parts list to find the replacments. I can't for the life of me remember what the name is for the venture, you know like fjr1300 or fbz 1300 or ? any body know off the top of your head? I'm trying to find short bolts that hold the rear trunk up on the rear fender. Thanks in advance LLoyd

Any fellow Homebrewers out there, or wannabes?
aspen60 replied to frogmaster's topic in Watering Hole
So where do all you homebrewers get your supplys, local or do you mail order (if so, where?)I allways wanted to make a batch from grain only, I didn't want to use malt extract but I don't have a way to cook five gallons at a time. Guess I'll have to get a keg and cut out the top. -

I haven't brewed in about 15 years, you guys are getting me all excited! Ive been wanting to start up again. The little woman threw out all my bottles (I had about 20 cases of brown bottles) so now I have to collect bottles all over again. The best batch of beer I ever made was an oatmeal stout that was so smooth you couldn't put it down. Now you all did it----my mouth is watering. Forgot how much I enjoyed it -
Thanks Goose I'll give the clothespins a try, like I say it only happens when it gets real windy--like 25 to 35 mph winds. I thought maybe someone else could have seen this too.

Okay here is my problem, I drive the scoot to work and on windy days as the bike just sets there in its parking space, I get little oil splatters on the downwind side of the bike, on the ground, about two feet from all the drain tubes hanging down under the shock. Now I know that if you over fill the crankcase with oil it drips out the tubes but I can honestly say its right where it should be, stand the bike up and the oil comes to about a half way up the sightglass. I park in the garage at home and there are no drips on the floor there. I am confused---does the wind create a vaccumm across the tubes when it sets outside and pull engine oil out? Yes I know, its only little drips ignore it, but we just built a brand new facility and the concrete is brand new. It's making me look bad next to the Fat Bob rider! Any ideas how to stop it?

Price - Quality - Service Pick any two. I think it was a great quote---- I had to email it to my boss, we both laughed

The problem with most of those red light runners is I would bet most of them didn't even realize they were running a red light! To damn busy daydreaming or texting, just not paying attention.

I still can't get over how much that little bit of chrome makes it look so much better, man that is GOOD LOOKING!

I chose the Avon's at 8000 miles, now Ive got 6000 miles on them and they still feel great. I did notice last time I had it on the lift for a wash and wax this weekend that there are little hair-line cracks on my front tire. I could only find them on the sidewall and only in a few places, couldn't find any on the rear. I am not too worried yet, as to how I store the bike,- it was stored in my heated garage (that i keep at 65) so I know it's not the cold concrete. unless they get a lot worse I would still buy another set of Avon's. Second choice will be the Dunlop's.

Yea that is one of the coolest addons I've seen in some time. guess I was wrong to think I didn't want any more chrome!

Got mine for 15,500, go to cycletrader.com and type in what your looking for. It will show you anything the dealers have listed. I saw a new 08 on the site a couple of weeks back. Here is the link, I hope it works. http://www.cycletrader.com/
