a baggie on a Zumo? IMO that kinda defeats the whole purpose of a motorcycle friendly GPS....although considering the track history of my Zumo, I can see a baggie on a 265WT in the near future

Damn I wish I had a speedometer with miles per hour hash marks Canadian RSTD have only kilometers no mph, wife`s US bought Roady has mph and kilometers on it also...sometimes we are not the most forward thinking nation...guess Yamaha Canada thought we would just ride the crappy roads in Canada and never leave the country

I am on my second 550...well actually maybe 3rd (awaiting repair reply from Canadian repair center) My first 550 lasted 3 years, it died in May of this year, sent it back for an exchange unit for $160 bucks which I thought was a good deal, it lasted 3 uses and it died..and when I say died..locked up, no soft reboot, hard reboot, batteries removed overnight etc. would help I am seriously considering just going to a automotive gps like a 265WT and a Zip Loc bag for rain protection, has anyone used a 2xx Nuvi on a bike and would like to comment?

so I have added 12" windshield and lower air deflectors to my original setup, buffeting is now gone, with my setup the 12" windshield is now 17 1/2" above the highest point on the chrome ignition cover which is 1/2" higher than my OEM cut down windshield...I went with the ruby tint to break up the all black Memphis Shades batwing...Memphis Shades lowers match very well with OEM fork lowers -
I am hoping for that new VMAX engine...but I am afraid it will be the Strato liner deluxe with a tour pack and full audio package. I think they are testing the water with the Stratoliner deluxe. Strato liner very very nice bike... Most of the upper line bikes have that 1854 CC V twin. yep I`m betting the new Venture will be a v-twin too, most likely the Strato engine, but to me water cooling goes along way for durablity and that has always been a Venture trademark. If I could use the "way back machine" I would find the founders of v-twin motorcycles and use a stick to persuade them into making washing machines instead...this v-twin thing has permanently stuck motorcycle evolution in the 1950`s with a few exceptions IMO

some pictures of my bike, a couple of notes: my fairing is at a lesser angle than tsigwing`s, and I have my stock handle bars rotated upwards probably more than most Lots of air coming from under the batwing, considering putting OEM shaped lowers onto black leg brackets or getting MS batwing air deflectors.... -

THX for all your help, got mine mounted today, damn windshield cracked right at center bolt hole from the bottom up to the hole, not sure if the crack will spread past the hole or not Mounting brackets turned out to be a trial and fit even with your great measurements..I used flat aluminum bar available at any hardware store...flat iron would work as well Haven`t gone for a ride yet as it is raining...but I am thinking I need a taller windshield, I got the 7" black gradiant and it sure seems short, ride will tell the tale though Looking at your pictures and my bike, the over all shape of the batwing appears to me more vertically orientated than mine, again its all in those "U" shaped brackets, once bolted up it comes on and off as easy as the OEM windshield So I am into this for $400, 200 for Batwing, 120 for complete fork brackets(could have gone for just the leg brackets for less) 70 for the 7" windshield and 30 for the chrome trim...still awaiting reply from sign shop about pin striping THX again -
I plan on converting my record collection to mp3s (ya not the greatest archiving way but better than never listening to them now) I see lots of software but how the heck to you get from 2 RCA jacks to a macbook? I dont plan on hooking up my stereo again but rather go from the turntable to a what? Do I need a pre-amp to digital converter? Can anyone recommend some hardware for a macbook?

The four picture down at this site:http://www.sscustomcycle.com/products/accessories/handlebars.shtml shows some red pinstriping on the fairing...anyone have any idea if this is hand painted or a decal? I am positive I have seen that in tape but be damned if I can find it anywhere...any clues would be greatly appreciated -

Have you had time to put some more miles on it and your thoughts? What is the height from the top of the batwing windshield to the highest point on the chrome gas tank trim? Kinda short and wondering just what heigth of windshield I need...my cut down stock windshield equals 17" as measured above -
Best accessory for a v-4...I was short shifting before I got a tach too, I let my v-twin buddies ride it and when I tell them when to shift they ask "will it take it"

New Idea for Air Filters
geep replied to dlhoulton's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Any experience with these? http://www.vesquared.com/ramflo/index.htm Same principle of replacing the OEM boxes but with washable foam elements. I like the "retro" look of these filters, IMO it goes well with our bikes, I am guessing the 300 series is more than enough, lots of Sportster guys run these:lightbulb:
