Yes to be clear..... Im a very "muscular" 300# fellar so a heavy duty spring is in order. "Light weights" can buy from Hagon all day long and the CA folks can obviously fill the order. -
Hagon vs Works Rear Shock

Gave up on Hagon. Intresting revelation. I was speaking with Hagon USA in California who apparently is a fairly new arm of the factory and without a lot of experiance. While Hagon has had a heavy duty spring version on the drawing board for some time they havnt done anything so Hagon USA info is questionable. It seems our shock take anvery special size that couldnt be used on any other shock so the economics arent there to make one. I spoke with Dave Quinn who has been the Hagon dealer in the US, he confirmed no heavy duty version is available.... I found out YSS is made in Thailand, sorry, despite some good feedback, im not going there. So i called Tim at Works today and placed my order ! 3 week lead and $689 ....yikes...but i dont see a better option. Thx for the feedback. -

Hagon vs Works Rear Shock

Well...still no shock! It appears Hagon England ordered new equipment (or thier supplier of springs did) to make heavy duty springs and that equipment is still not in place. Although the price is better then Works, Im getting suspicious that Hagon wont be able to deliver a heavy duty version shock for many more weeks and Im gettgin tired or bouncing down the road ! -

Hagon vs Works Rear Shock
ablumny replied to ablumny's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I spoke with Christina today. She stated she has a standard venture shock in stock shippable today, no remote preload adjuster and for a normal weight rider. The custom shock i want will ship from England to California on Friday, Monday the latest. She convinced me....hope i dont get burned -
The OEM shock on my 03 Venture finally gave out. Ive read just about every thread on the subject and determine another OEM shock is out. Now to choose between two popular replacements; Works vs Hagon. Based on my initial contact with both companies, online research and the feedback here, Im going with Hagon and the remote pre-load adjuster. Ill be traveling to Southern California about the time when this custom shock arrives so Ill visit thier office and pick it up live.....

Great. I see 12a. What do you think the best place should be to pick it up heading north? Ill stay away from 100

Almost a year later Im taking this run! Life just kept getting in the way Here's my route plan, hoping anyone local can advise on my choices: - From Long Island, taking the ferry to Bridgeport and slabing it on 91N to Route 10 near Lebanon (Vermont/NH border) - Near Newbury getting on 116 thru Fraconia to 302 - 302, south and east to Bear Notch Rd to East part of Kancamagus Rd then onto Conway - Out of Conway, 302 to 5N into Maine, loop back around thru Greenwood and Norway to Rt 37 and back to Conway. - Out of Conway, along NH/Maine border on 113 to Rt 2 west to 16 south. Stop at Mt Washington, continue South on 16 back to Kancamagus West to 93 and south to Bridgeport or New London ferry.... Full (and long) days+ and loads of miles (~800) in two days but we're ready. Any input is appreciated. Andrew

Well, I click on Search in the header section, same line as Forum, UserCP, etc. In there I had entered "lower wind deflectors" already. When I choose Show Threads, I get 38 results. When I choose Show Posts, I get 46 results. In both cases, Im not getting ONLY topics for "lower wind deflectors" Whatever, we can drop it. Hope the pics help someone!

Thanks. On a related subject: -how to do a multi word search like "lower wind deflectors" ? I get every post with either of these three words when Im looking for posts with that phrase only.. andrew

WOW. I thought I did a good job searching for prior threads, didnt see many so to hear they always break is a shocker. Bikes an 03 so no warranty. Brackets were cheap (maybe why they rot !) Next time I'll go with the Diamond brackets...They look nicer......errrr and I dont have the bumpers @!

Last year I noticed my lower deflectors were vibrating a lot. At the end of the season I checked closely and saw rust on the top of the bracket and upon even closer look one bracket clearly was cracked. I ordered the brackets online and today we had a heatwave here on Long Island (50F!) so I tackled the replacement. Below are the pictures of what I found;both were cracked; replacement is straight forward however a couple of observations: - the outside bracket screws were so hard to get out I almost stripped the heads. The insides were ok. Something about the position of the outside bolts ? Happans to also be the brackets cracked on the outside of the bracket. - Use locktite on all of the bracket screws. The factory did. - I stripped the 5mm heads of the passing lamp bracket using a ball head allen key. (too lazy to remove the front fairing). My local H/W store gave me stainless 6mm head cap bolts. A bit more confidence cranking on the bolt with a 6mm ball head allen key. Question: Anyone know what the hole is for on the bottom of each bracket? (see pic) Andrew

Mustang or Corbin Seat
ablumny replied to viragofan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I find the stock seat on my Venture perfect. (280#) However on my 1100 vStar, I bought a Corbin Dual Touring Seat. Hard as heck for a long time. They said i'td be the best seat ever if I rode it for ~1K miles and they were right. Not really sure whats in them but after the break in period I could ride on that seat for hours without issue. I will say that I questioned my decision along the way and also bought the Mustang seat. Very cushy but I did not like the riding position on the vStar at all...way too forward and angled up. Sold it on eBay. Big prob I had with the Corbin was that I couldn't get my wife on the back for that many miles so it never broke in and she complained about it all the time. As someone said though, everyone's different but I loved that Corbin Seat! -
