  1. Another work day for me but at least the weather has been good enough to ride to work this week and I get to use the HOV lane !
  2. No problem at all. I've gotten so much help from this forum and members, helping a member/fellow rider is a natural way to pay back!. I assume you got the strip back and it works?
  3. Im guessing there's no way your going to back that rig up with the Goldwings reverse system so I assume they never put themselves in a position to need to do so!
  4. I use my Blackberry's Password keeper and refer to it often, more often as Im getting older !
  5. Thats a good one:) thx
  6. Very nice looking bike from the pics but "We are giving up riding"? Flat out statement like that has me wondering why? Just seems like a bummer and I hope I never have to say the same!
  7. eagleeye: The forum is http://nepacrossroads.com/ (Hope that was ok to post) The DVC500 I have is specialize in that it will only burn coal and only one size, Rice because it feeds itself from a large hopper. There's a TLC2000 from Harman that looks identical fro the front, burns wood or normal size coal as it's a manual stove for those with more time and patience. bull463: I get away with 3 tons for my house, under a grand in coal but I still heat hot water (for showers, etc) through my oil burner but Im down to one tank of oil or the winter instead of four. I've been researcing a hot water coil for my coal stove to get me off of oil someday! Anyone else?
  8. Im curious if any riders are also coal burners? I'm going on season two with a coal fired stove that heats my house. On the Anthracite Coal forum I belong to there's enough rider members that I think there's some sort of coal-riding connection Just wondering.... here's my stoker stove on first burn last year! http://lh4.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/SNegHs2W7SI/AAAAAAAABJY/v9TjKe_Pe6Y/s640/P9210007.JPG and the whole project: http://picasaweb.google.com/ablumny/CoalProject#

  10. Nope I dont have the LongHorns. The extensions on mine are shorter.
  11. Im 5' 10". I put a set of Kuryakyn Dually pegs (I think thats the name) with offset mounts. With these mounts I'm able to fine tune the position of pegs nicely. I have three comfortable position now: 1. Heel on floorboard, toe on peg 2. Foot totally on peg 3. Hanging over peg, fully stretched I dont have close ups but here's a couple of photo's that may help. Whole bunch on eBay. Search for kuryakyn dually http://lh5.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/Sh2_99fwJGI/AAAAAAAAB9Y/7cb2tDsQd4Q/s640/P5270282.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/Sn2q5AwMtfI/AAAAAAAAC7k/_G3mVisrz38/s800/P8080699.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/Sn2q4wfhTcI/AAAAAAAAC7g/iVtBXwSWr-s/s800/P8080698.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/SnT6rcfgwVI/AAAAAAAAC4I/1nr7iYA0xiM/s800/P8010665.JPG
  12. Cant comment on your clunk problem and I dont mean to change the subject BUT: Ive been looking to take a Mt. Washington trip from Long Island. Any tips other than stay off the ferocious roads ? Can you share your route or maps without too much difficulty? (trying not to be a pain!) Thanks. Good luck with identifying the problem..
  13. WOW that is a beautiful color. What is the official color and from what company?
  14. I cut all my shields down at one time and did my RSV shield the day I got it. Very easy. Smely's instructions above are right however I got a roll of wide painters tape and covered the whole shield, both sides to be sure I had no issues while working in it. To match the factory profile of the shield, I layed heavy paper on the protected shield, traced the top, cut that out and simply lowered the paper to the height I wanted and retraced onto my painters tape. Also, after the three levels of sanding, finish the edge off with a rag wrapped around a finger, VERY lightly dipped in M.E.K. (Metyl Ethyl Ketone) solution which you can get at any home depot/lowes. Wipe it along the edge and you will have a factory looking edge. (do not let it drip on the shield surface as it's very lightly melting the plastic, eliminating the remaining sanding marks etc.)
  15. On my 05 RSV I had the most annoying squeak back there. Tightened every bolt I could find, still the squeak persisted. I wound up taking the trunk off completely, cracking and re tightening all visible bolts under the trunk, in the side trunks and when I put it all back together, the squeak was gone. I have no idea what fixed it but its gone! Good luck
  16. just the three of us eh?
  17. Update?
  18. I did the same, cut down stock shield so I can see over it but now the wind buffeting is awful. Ive been reading about the Clearview Shields and others but still no decision.
  19. Pictures?
  20. yep. responded to your Call to Long Islanders Post! Lets see who chimes in.
  21. FuzzyRSTD; no prob. Happy to provide a different perspective!
  22. Was thinking the same. Holtsville, exit 61 !
  23. I can send you the map file if you have a way to use it. It's a .GDB Garmin MapSource format now but it may be convertible.
  24. I know you said it's just money BUT I dont have much so I went with a refurbed Garmin 2720 off of eBay. $110, rugged, waterproof, readable outdoors, glove friendly and works great. No internal battery but bullet proof. Custom waypoints, records trips, exports and imports maps. Nice unit for the money. My 2cents.... http://lh6.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/SnT6WJe92gI/AAAAAAAAC1E/0gElucl7rIY/s800/P8010619.JPGhttp://lh6.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/SgcFULDy9SI/AAAAAAAAB8I/mrvrkKRSGRk/s640/P5100249.JPG
