I have had the Big Bike/Showchrome trunk rack on my '03 for just about 5 years now.............. no problems whatsoever. I used Star washers on the top under the legs along with rubber washers. I also used the tapered washer legs that are available that keep the mounting bolts going in straight. This removes any chance of the lid cracking. ken.jo@shaw.ca

............ I have purchased several sets of tires from this outlet and every purchase has been a most positive experience. A tracking number has always been issued and the delivery has been prompt. When I take delivery, the sidewall coding indicates that I am receiving very "fresh" rubber. I have yet to find another outlet that beats their pricing on a pair of tires. Their telephone number is (520) 628-2947. ken.jo@shaw.ca

I had a small accident a couple months back that resulted in a low side slide down a mountain highway. The damage to the bike is purely cosmetic and is just about reassembled with some new parts....... one of which is the oem Audio Controller that sits on the left handlebar. I ended up with 7 broken ribs, a punctured lung and a broken collar-bone that was broken so bad that it needed a 6 inch plate with 8 screws to hold it together........... there goes my summer !! Anyway .............. back to the Controller ----------- the broken one works just fine and my insurance company replaced it with a new one at a cost of $872.xx Canadian. I am looking to replace the front panel of the broken Controller to make another good one. It seems almost criminal to throw the broken one in the garbage. Anyone have a busted Controller with a good front panel they want to part with ?? ken.jo@shaw.ca

Chrome Nut Covers
wuzfuzz replied to Ron Dunne's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
....... what you are looking for are called "Kool Kovers". They are made my MC Enterprises and come in bike specific kits or in individual sizes. I bought a set for the YAMAHA Road Star, as they vary in amount from bike to bike and the Road Star came with 83 assorted sized caps. They are chrome plated, polymor heat resistant plastic. I have had mine on for almost 5 years now and they still look like new and not one has fallen off. They are available through just about any aftermarket supplier............. even eBay. ken.jo@shaw.ca -

Rear turn signal taillight conversion
wuzfuzz replied to dharnie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
............... the direct fit red lenses are available from KURYAKYN now for $9.99 or less for the pair. You can also use H/D, but why ?? Anyhow.............. reach up under the rear fender and remove the two small bolts per turn signal. Access the wiring jungle in behind the licence plate and unplug the signals............. 2 wires per side. Remove the signals and reinstall the 3 wire variety. They bolt up exactly the same and the wiring is exact except for the additional function. Splice this extra wire into the running/clearance light wire that powers the tail-light. Presto-chango............... the job is done. ken.jo@shaw.ca -
Rear turn signal taillight conversion
wuzfuzz replied to dharnie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
........... I bought a set of YAMAHA RSV front signals on eBay for cheap that are dual filament. I removed the single filament rear signals and installed the front ones on the rear. Then I acquired a set of red replacement lenses from KURYAKYN for $10 a pair. Now I have red signals to the rear as well as additional red running lights on either side of the central tail-light. I used to run the set-up from The Electrical Connection but after replacing 2 failed amber LED rings, I chucked them in the garbage. They have a life-time warranty, but after 2 failures I decided to go the dual filament signals to the rear. Works for me..................... ken.jo@shaw.ca -
R-Mark® Brake-Running Light Bar Kit
wuzfuzz replied to bmxndad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
http://www.closertowholesale.com I bought a pair of them for $32.99 at the above supplier who sells them on eBay. As stated, if you look at the rear of the helmet holders under the rubber cover, you will see a hole....... both sides have one. The lights I bought fit perfectly to these holes. All I had to do was bolt them on and connect the wiring............ one for ground, one for the running light and one for the brakelight. I bought the clear lens with red LED's, but they also sell red lens with red LED's. They are a good source for all your LED requirements. Here's a photo of my 3rd brakelight.............. ken.jo@shaw.ca- 9 replies

............. the 1157 has 32 cp on the high side and 3 cp on the low side. It draws 2.1 amps and .59 amps respectively. For a great improvement over this stock version, try a 2357. It has 40 cp on the high side and 3 cp on the low side. The 2357 draws only 2.2 amps on the high side. The 2357 is a great replacement for the stock 1157.......... much brighter on the high side for either turn signals or brake light. ken.jo@shaw.ca

noise in rear shock
wuzfuzz replied to kruser04rsv's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
..... I have had one shock replaced on Warranty due to the "moaning" problem. Not long after, it too began to "moan". I removed the Schraeder valve and used gravity to drain the contents of the shock overnight............ 7.5 ounces of fluid was captured. I re-inserted 2 ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil and 5.5 ounces of BelRay 15W suspension fluid using a vet syringe. No more "moan". I bought an eBay shock and installed it........... the dreaded "moan" ------ I guess that is why it was on eBay. I took it off and drained it as well and re-inserted MMO and 15W BelRay. No more "moan". A couple of years have gone by now with no further "moaning" from either. I have swapped out both shocks and am currently running an eBay 2002 shock on my '03 Midnight. I have the '03 version on the shelf. ken.jo@shaw.ca -
4 way flashers for 07 RSTD
wuzfuzz replied to guns_usn_20's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
............ purchase an automotive 3 prong HD13, 12 volt flasher from your local auto parts store. With a few feet of wire, a handful of electrical connectors and a toggle switch of your choice, any bike can have an operating 4 way emergency flasher. You can mount the flasher anywhere you like and you will also need a source of constant 12 volts with the ignition off. Protect this circuit with a 10 amp inline fuse that leads to the switch. Looking at the end of the 3 prong flasher, the prong at the 9 o'clock position is your connection for constant voltage. The prong at the top, or 12 o'clock position, is your connection to the right side signal wiring. The prong at the 3 o'clock position is your connection to the left side signal wiring. You will need a probe tester to locate circuits and must have a little knowledge to be able to source out the left and right signal wiring. ken.jo@shaw.ca -

Advice on installation 3 Pouch Windshield Bag
wuzfuzz replied to Color01's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
........... I have a 3 bag from HOPNEL that is for the H/D Ultra. I trimmed off the bottom and studded it to match the rest of the studding on my '03 Midnight. I drilled and mounted it to the shorty windshield. It's been there for 4 years now.......... comes in handy. ken.jo@shaw.ca -

Conversion to Barnett pressure plate.
wuzfuzz replied to Steve S's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
.......... I went with the BARNETT SR-2 kit with the Pressure Plate and coil springs. A very nice improvement over the oem. A little heavier clutch lever pull, but you become used to the change very quickly. Although I also bought the discs from BARNETT, I did not install them and left everything else alone. When I did the conversion, my '03 was only 3 months old. ken.jo@shaw.ca -
........ I have an '03 Midnight. First shock failed and was replaced under Warranty. When it started to fail, I drained the water thin, crappy oem fluid from it and replaced it with 2 ounces of MMO and 5.5 ouonces of 15W BelRay Suspension fluid. The additives sealed up the leak immediately and the "moaning" never returned. I have now ridden 2 seasons with no problems whatsoever and run 20 lbs of air.......... even with towing a Piggy-Backer trailer. I also drained the crap out of my original failed shock and replaced it with the same ingredients. I don't think I will be needing it however. ken.jo@shaw.ca
