  1. Just ordered a new rear tire, an E3. Asked the dealer about the new E4s, said they won't be available till August.

  3. Windows 10 ain't bad, I like it. Probably the best Windows yet. A lot of nice features. Takes a little getting use to where things are. Settings are very easy to see and change. When I built my new machine I had to install Windows 8, hated it! Jumped at the chance to upgrade to Windows 10 when it first can out. Even updated my wife's Windows 7 to 10, she likes it too. Have two other Windows XP laptops that will not run Windows 10, one I killed the wireless internet connection, uninstalled all TCP/IP stuff (so I don't get hounded on how old it is) and use it as a game machine for the grand kids that love some old PC games on it. The other I use as my travel computer, installed Linux on it. Runs great and no big deal if it gets stolen or broken.
  4. Put this video together from a few months ago. Nice Texas winter ride - enjoy! This has happened before, I post a link to my Vimeo video and it disappears in the post, yet is visable when I got back to edit. Here it is again, not using the imbedded html.
  5. I've tried a number of different ones. They all seem to change "options" each update. I like to see daily temps by hr, % precp, and wind speeds not just direction. I can get all the info just not on one screen you have to page thru the forcast.
  6. get the Honda Moly 60 from a Honda Car service dept. Much much cheaper, they had to order several tubes for me.
  7. Water? "a bunch" like a gallon? picture?
  8. I'm a firm believer in if it ain't broke don't fix it. I put SS lines on my 2004 RSV two years ago. Didn't touch the master cylinders. Brakes great, (be careful, lot less pull - more brake). No leaks before or after. Only concern was I could not bleed the clutch. Had to wrap the lever over night, bled no problem next day.
  9. Is that on or off the bike?
  10. Cowpuc, Never had any luck with the beads, I use the stickon weights. But they have a tendency to fly off. Have to clean the rim real well with solvent (brake cleaner). I have a HF motorcycle wheel balancer.
  11. Cowpuc, Yes the MD was in Texas just outside of Houston. And the tires are bias ply. Most roads I ride here in Texas are chip-seal and I don't "baby it" when I ride either but I'm not afraid to drag "hard parts" in the twisties when I can find them.
  12. Dale124, If you have the jack and the stand you got them to do some work yourself. You have the tool skill, you just need the experience of doing it. Here in Texas as elsewhere Venture riders get together to assist each other working on their bikes for exactly things like this. I'm sure someone in CA that lives nearby can show you how it's done for the price of a free lunch. Cowpuc, As you know I just returned from a maintenance day. I surveyed fellow riders on rear tire mileage. It appears they favor Dunlop E3's and average 13k miles. Never ran them but will now as I need a rear on the Venture. One 1st gen rider claims to get 17k out of them.
  13. Funny you should mention this. Just read a report on this and most places are going back to tipping for the exact reasons you mentioned. The good staff left!
  14. I buy the tire, sometimes from them, sometimes not. I take the wheel off the bike, very easy, take it to them (leave the spacers at home). They charge $25 to mount/balance the tire. At the same time it gives me a chance to grease the splines, check/replace/ or switch the rear brake pads (0ne side wears faster, bon't recall which side). I get about 11k miles to a rear, it don't matter the brand of a 75+H rated tire.
  15. Manual labor usually respects a tip (not a tip jar, which I consider just begging). Heavy lifting I tip $10 each. They don't see a dime from any of the other charges. I think $20 is generous unless they have to carry it up 3 flights of stairs. I totally understand your point, why tip when they charge you for any/everything they can. If that be the case, I shop elsewhere. Also Google and Yelp give you the opportunity to rate them and state your concerns.
  16. Mounted mine on the triple tree: http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/aharbi/Motorcycle/image_1.jpeg
  17. No thanks. I've come too close to missing too many turns sightseeing let alone trying to text. I can receive and make voice bluetooth calls. Thats as far as I want to go.
  18. Weird - the link is there when I went back to edit the post. But won't show up just viewing it on my iPad. Strange.
  19. Rode 225 miles on Tuesday from Austin to Independence Texas filming wild flowers along the way. My first attempt at video editing anything this long. The video is 41 minutes. Enjoy!

  21. Oh no! But great pics. my AC kicked on yesterday afternoon. Outside temp was 84F. Grass needs cut. Guess our winter is over.
  22. If I were to buy a $250 Android tablet, I'd seriously consider this one: ASUS ZenPad Z580CA-C1-BK Intel Atom 2.33GHz 4 GB Memory 64 GB eMMC 8.0" 2048 x 1536 2K IPS 8 MP Camera Touchscreen Tablet Android 5.0 (Lollipop) http://www.asus.com/us/Tablets/ASUS_ZenPad_S_80_Z580CA/specifications/ I have a number of ASUS products (motherboard, 27"LED display, AC Router) and have been very pleased. They use the latest technology, have great tools to configure/setup their products. Just sayin... yes there would be a learning curve for the iPad Android apps are the same across devices (tablet apps being a little more robust)
  23. $250 will get you a nice tablet and even an iPad mini 2 (till this Saturday) http://www.frys.com/search?query_string=7919410+7919420 If you have an Android smartphone go with an Android tablet. If you have an iPhone go with an iPad. Much easier to share apps and data between like devices. Look for: 1) best screen resolution 2) fast multi-core processor 3) most internal RAM 4) USB connection, micro SD/XC (will allow 64GB+) card slot. Note both USB flash drive and SD memory goes for .30/GB on sale. Most current release of Android is 6.0, most devices are running 4.4.4 or 5.0 I have a 96GB (32RAM + 64SD) dual core Android tablet running 4.4.4 and an iPad mini 2 (which I'm using now), my wife has an iPad Pro which I got her for Christmas and an iPad mini. For ease of use, dependability I preferr the iPads. In our house we move data (pictures, video, music) between all our devices including cameras, iPhones & Linux PC using GB WiFi. I take my iPad mini whenever I travel on or off the bike.
  24. I know exactly where that is. 39 isn't a fast road there, PU driver wasn't paying attention. Too much of that going on (hit & run). Lately they have been catching them, hopefully before they can run back across the boarder. A recent case they extradited him back into Texas to serve 14 years. Mexico won't extradite if a conviction could bring a death penalty.
