Yep, what Rosie1965 said. Good answer.

Label it as a Rip OFF and put it on YouTube. They will see it and know it can kill their million dollar marketing campaign. Bet you'll get their attention

+1 agree, catch the B... bag boy

Thanks, I found that out later that Autozone does it for free. Truth be told, I think I pi$$ed the dealer off. I know there wasn't a dam thing wrong with the car causing the pay me more money light to come on and figured it was some obscure vacuum leak or dung sniffing sensor. So I did the old VCR flashing date fix, I put a piece of black electrical tape over the light so you couldn't see it. BUSTED! evedently for inspection they check the codes and wouldn't pass it because the false "EGR failure". They found the tape and told me it was illegal to mask (ha ha) falsify emissions reading.

"save some cash" - with a dealer My experience would be he'd charge twice, once for the gasket and again for the valve job even though they have to remove the gaskets to do the valve job. They go by job (hours) as listed in their little "job book". You got it, I don't like dealers, of any kind. The new gotcha is the diagnostic. We have to run a diagnostic for $100 to see whats wrong. Just another way to "pad the bill" for them to just look under the hood/tank. It just cost me over $900 to get my wife's car inspected. Not a dang thing wrong with it but the "service engine soon" light would come on. It really should be called "pay me more money" light. It was a EGR sensor that failed. The EGR was fine, the car was fine, the sensor to warn of a polluting system failed. What a rip.

sounds like "snake oil" to me. Things like this have been around for years for cars. I'm surprised they haven't been outlawed along with the magic medical cures.

Just use the gray foam packing from electronic stuff. It's free and cuts easy with scissors.

My granddad was an engineer (civil), my dad was an engineer (civil), and so am I (electrical/electronic). We all used slide rules. When I got my first "hand calculator" I would double check with my slide rule. I was still faster with the slide rule until they came out with the multi-function calculators. I have since inherated my granddad's and fathers slide rules. One is made with a glass magnified slide the rule is teak and ivory with interchangeable slides. I even have a slide rule tie clasp. I showed it to my son in law, he had no idea what it was I was disappointed.

I may not of handled it that way, however he did step up and took action (parenting) that was needed. He held it together fairly well. You could see the mix of anger, betrayal and hurt in him. I hope she apologizes to him and they can mend this "teenage growing pain" and move on.

Victory had the factory truck in the area a few weeks ago. I took the Vision and the XC for a ride. The XC carried the weight low and was very well behaved at parking lot speeds. I didn't find it had any more power then my Venture and shifting was "clunky". It has a cable clutch which I didn't care for although it had an easy pull. The factory guy said they are special coated cables that "better not break at $300 to replace". The hard side bags had a large gap under the lid and I wonder if water would be blown in under the lid if riding in a hard rain. No factory option passing lamps, I consider this a major safety issue. The intercom/CB option is ridiculously way over priced. I liked the electronics and ABS. The floorboards are huge and give you plenty of room to move around, I don't think you would need highway pegs to stretch out. The fit & finish is a step back from the Venture. I may consider one in the future but not enough "wow factor" to replace my Venture.

The only place to buy cables and the best prices. http://www.mycablemart.com/ Belkin cables are a rip. No reason to pay what they charge for a cable. It's all "tinsel and sham" has nothing to do with conductivity, signal loss etc.

I believe 99% of the time where "I didn't see them" is BS. It really translates to "I wasn't paying attention". Last year I was almost hit head-on by a young buck in a pickup truck on a two lane road when he swung out to pass the car in front of him. I swerved off the road onto the gravel shoulder. He missed the back of my bike by less than a foot and plowed into the guardrail. He either kept his truck into the guardrail or the guardrail held him against it for 150 feet. Good thing as my wife was following me and if he swung back on the road he would of hit her head-on. Now it was daylight, my bike is white, I was wearing my lime-yellow florescent riding jacket, my headlight was on, my passing lights were on I also have Moon Shinez™ LED bright white driving lights/turn signal. That's 5 (five) bright lights shining his way! He told the cop "I didn't see him". I asked the cop what was he doing driving if he was that blind? (I had stopped shaking by then). Now here's the catch. My wife was video taping me and caught the whole thing on video. We played it back to the cop. He didn't buy the "I didn't see him" either. He wrote him up for excessive speed, passing in a no passing zone, reckless driving. I dunno, years ago they passed a law all motorcycle have to have their headlight on maybe we need to have them all equipped with internal headlight mini video recorders too.

and the gap continues to widen between management and worker. Caterpillar quadrupled CEO Doug Oberhelman's compensation last year to $10.5million.

Owen, congrats on the new ride. And yes, I can see how a FJR can make you feel younger. Enjoy! Does it have room for your 2 meter?

You beat me to it. This is exactly what I did for my V-Star. Still wear the same Froggtogs on my venture. I like the Froggtogs 'cause they breath and you don't end up as wet on the inside from your own perspiration. Great for those all day rains when you have to ride to you next destination on a road trip.

But do I hate doing that. I have two lights leaving my neighborhood that won't trip to make a left turn. The intersections are busy so I have waited awhile. When I do go thru the red light I have been honked at by the opposing traffic. Once I was chased by a cage to the next light who chewed me out refusing to let me explain. ( I took his picture, see my other post on squelching road rage by taking their picture).

I have found on my bike the yellow fuel light is not consistant. At lower speeds (50mph) it will come on and I can travel another 7-10 miles before the fuel gage changes to fuel reserve meter and the bike sputters before switching the fuel cock. While at 70mph on the interstate all three happen at the same time - Yellow light - fuel reserve meter - sputter, immediate need to switch the fuel cock. I use the odometer to best judge my fuel needs. By the time the yellow light comes on I'm already looking for gas. I agree the $1.50 difference per tank on the motorcycle isn't worth the risk of running out.

very nice, didn't know there was that many spices

Me too! Been retired several years now. Always getting asked what do you do with all that free time. Well I'll tell ya. I get up in the morning and make my wife breakfast because she's still working. I wave goodbye to her in the driveway and then check the weather radar maps on HDTV. If the weather is good and it mostly is with 300 days of sunshine a year here in central Texas. I pick an area to ride within a 250 mile radius of where I live. Then I go into the garage and pick which bike I feel like riding today depending upon the area I choose to ride Then I ride for about 7-8hrs and try to beat my wife home and get dinner started so when she walks thru the door dinner isn't far behind. If it rains or too windy (20+mph) I work on the bikes or do housework even the laundry. Now and again the kids need me to watch the grandkids (which I adore) if daycare is closed, they're sick or whatever. When my wife is off we can takeoff and ride and not worry about the house or housework and enjoy just the two of us. She loves the little towns, shops, the B&B and mom&pop motels. I like traveling the back roads. Only problem is we need to move! I think I wore the 500 miles around us out For us it works and we love it

Wow, it was great. Nice seeing everyone again. Had a great visit, a good lunch and a nice ride even with the 70 miles of dense wet fog, really, that's all about riding and why we do it. The layman will never know an early morning embrace by the cool damp fog at 70 MPH!. I love it. Enjoy the pictures! Thank you sir.

Thinking about maybe joining y'all. But I can't find the place. Did a search on Goode Company and got four hits around Houston. Did a search on 1960 and got a zillion hits mostly "oldies music"

I installed the Moon Shinez™ LED in the front last year and I used my dremel tool to trim down the diameter so they would "drop-in" and the lens would mate with the rubber gasket.
