  1. Great idea and simple solution. I went out and bought a flat serpentine pulley wrench and a cheap HF 17mm socket that a ground down to a "shorty" socket. Just can't torque it to spec. So I run it snug and a smidge more, never leaked. Posted pictures of it awhile ago.
  2. Don't be too quick to judge. I bought a "damaged" windshield from them. The damage was a ball point pen sized dot to the right side out of the field of vision. Smaller than a nat splat. Give them a call, they do a real good job explaining what/where the damage is. Any other windshield manufacture would shipped it as new.
  3. Where? Love the color, my wife would want it on the color alone.
  4. Counter steer, Counter steer, Counter steer!
  5. Unfortunately I too have to drop out of MD. Papa Art is needed to help my daughter with the grand kids. Her father in law wants to go back to AR. He is very ill and wants to go home to die.
  6. On bended knee - Prayer's sent in support of the family.
  7. There were several great instrumentals "back then"[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGPG_Y-_BZI]Duane Eddy - Rebel-rouser [/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j09C8clJaXo]Pipeline - The Chantays[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p13yZAjhU0M]Wipe Out[/ame] To name just a few, do a google on instrumentals of the 1960's, some great listening.
  8. Exactly. I did the same. Too many chicken sh*t rules. Personally I like seeing all the patch work and the rides/places folks have been. Great conversation starters.
  9. The problems ARE related. The update fails causing it to check the drive hunting for the reason update failed. Fix the update problem and other problem will go away. Now, what message do you get when update fails?
  10. Ditto. Have to agree. I do the same thing and I get a better nights sleep when I travel on the bike. Peace of mind, don't have to keep rechecking it 25 times a nite. I also have motion, shock, voltage sensor alarm with a 1/2 mile range fob.
  11. I too always thought it funny. They have beautiful white feathered heads. Bald are turkey buzzards. http://readreidread.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/vulture1.jpg
  12. As most have said quitting is easy, staying quit is hard. Stats show the majority of folks that have quit have tried multiple times to quit. The fact that you have is a good sign. Change your routine, it's not just the nicotine but the habit of doing something/someplace while you smoke. Change the habit/routine. I can see from the posts the folks really pulling for ya are quitters. Been there done that, we know the feeling, we know how hard it WAS. But can be done.
  13. Trying to convince my wife to join us. Ya'all have never met the love of my life for the past 40 years. Looks like there is a very nice and highly rated Super 8 on 105 as we will most likely come down on Friday. I have a used front & rear Dunlop 404 whitewall tires I can donate if someone is interested. My guess is they are maybe half worn. Still have several thousand left on them. I can include pictures later.
  14. Definitely a flood light. It light up the whole garage, everything in front of the bike. There is no "beam of light" that can be pointed/ directed. I knew this when I bought them. I don't ride at night and don't plan to either. I got these lights TO BE SEEN. I took a bunch of pictures when I installed them. But really nothing to it. Pop them out of the rubber case, cut the wires, add new connectors, drop them into the OEM passing lamp housing. Next is installing the $54 HID light kit from Cycle Gear. All lights on the bike will be LED with the exception of the new HID headlight and rear turn signal, I have no plans to change them.
  15. Thanks for the tip. I got mine today and at the sale price too $34.99. I did some amp/watt measurements. .32A (each) or 3.84 watts (each) compared to the 55 watts for OEM. Like you said they drop right in.
  16. Heck yea I'll attend. I missed Kregerdoodle's in the spring. I was still on the mend from a heart valve replacement and a triple bypass. Feel 10 years younger now!
  17. "We" is someone putting together a ride? I prefer the cooler months. The park is open all year and it's a nice ride up and back. I like the cabins, they sleep 4. Have any dates picked yet?
  18. Read a recent report about teens and sleep. They are still growing and do require lots of rest, usually 9 hours of sleep. Like you didn't already know that.
  19. Ditto on my Venture. Just put one on the front too.
  20. Last spring on a group ride just outside of Mena AR I notice the bikes ahead of me started to scatter & zigzag all over the road. They were trying to miss the 30+ turtles trying to cross the road!
  21. I've had Stop & Go plugs fail on the road. Sticky string works best last long time. Also through out those CO² cartridges. You can't carry enough of them to fill a tire, also like carrying "little bombs" with you. Get a slime compressor tire kit at Walmart for like $14.
  22. Try that in Texas and you'll get a bullet in the face - legally
  23. I totally agree. Remove yourself from the situation. You don't stand a chance on a bike. And as for the "young females" my conclusion exactly. I honestly don't believe they know they are doing it. Guess they were never taught one car length for every 10 mph. I always ride with my camera on a camera strap around my neck. I found people don't like their picture taken by strangers. A few camera flashes over the shoulder usually discourages them from getting too close
  24. It's not the destination - it's the journey. You have to enjoy the ride of life. I've told the kids there is much more to life than a mortgage and car payments. You can't take it with you - never seen a U-Haul following a hearse.
  25. I should of kept my notes from when I had to replace one of mine. I too broke the hollow bolt for the passing lamp years ago when someone backed into my V-Star and knocked it over. The Venture uses the same bolt. Yamaha was no help - wanted me to buy the whole light bar! I'm lucky these folks a "just down the road" from me. I took the broken bolt and they matched it up for like $1.85. Give them a call, send them an email with a picture and the size. Great helpful folks.
