Go with two helmets. One for group rides with the CB the other for bluetooth, cell phone and mp3 music. Will save yourself countless hours of frustration and dollars

I'm running the same, well maybe not (passing lamps) but here are the numbers: PIAA-70323 H3 (halogen) advertised as 35W=70W at $38 ech. I did try various LEDs but always had a problem at night casting too much uncontrolled light blinding oncoming traffic judging by the number of times they flicked their high beams. Daytime wasn't a problem.

Don't know how fast your internet is. But have a look at Netflix. Any game system will receive it or get an Apple TV box ($97). I use it thru the Apple TV and love it. In fact I'm thinking about canceling cable TV, paying way too much for a zillion channels for nothing I watch and 50% of the show is advertising. Netflix shows have no advertising. And you can watch Netflix on any internet connected device for $7.99 a month.

Takes a bit of "effort" to knock it over on the right side. Kickstand didn't fail. Sorry to see that happen.

Tiny bubbles in the line, make me unhappy, make me feel cryin. Tiny bubble make me HOT all over... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlCiDEXuxxA]Picture Don Ho singing it[/ame]. Perhaps too old for most of you. My clutch problem was due to the tiny bubbles. Not sure which suggestion fixed it. I did all three and it worked. Let it sit all night with the clutch lever pulled (velcro wire tied to the handle bar) and the reservoir cover off, gently jiggle the clutch lever, tapped the banjo bolt at the reservoir with the back of a screw driver. It pumped-up on the first try. Of course the brakes worked before, but must of needed bled. Because now I have POWER BRAKES, do stainless steel lines really make that much of a difference? or was it the soft words of encouragement I uttered to it last evening? For me this was a lesson in humility. Where you think you know what you are doing and something this minor knocks you off guard. Also a lesson in appreciation, an appreciation for the folks on this forum so willing to help, to share their knowledge. I received calls last night and this morning from literally all across this country AND the country north of us. Thanks to all, much appreciated.

Questions about heated grips
aharbi replied to DANG's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Heated gloves work better. Just sayin -
Been using non-scented pledge for years including on two CeeBailey shields. No problems. Plexus is NUTS on price.

My thoughts: Keep the V-4, make it FI and maybe bore out to 1700cc keeping gas mileage in mind. Yes, ABS and traction control, if you've ever used it on a bike you'll understand. Heated grips, yes. Heated seat an option. Power ports for both driver and passenger. Power adjustable windshield, bluetooth, AM,FM,Weather,Traffic, USB plug for MP3 USB memory stick and MP3 players, no CB but FRS/GMRS radio capable via bluetooth. Previsions for a GPS I want to use my own. If it came with the bike they would use lowest bidder and you'd end up with a Honda-Goldwing-like brain dead GPS. Agree with full fixed fairing. ALL LED lighting. Air adjustable suspension (front/rear), Shaft drive, water cooled. Full hard luggage. Side loading top case. top loading side bags. Would be interested but not sure how they would do it: adjustable driver and passenger seat, adjustable tour pack, reverse gear. What is interesting is that all of this exists today. Just not in one bike. And I want it to look like a "bagger", weigh less than a Goldwing.

Washer on rear tire axle
aharbi replied to SpencerPJ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If it's not there. The brake caliper is not square to the rear disk and causing the pad tobe in constant contact causing premature uneven ware and overheating will occur to the rear brake pad. Take the bike back, have them fix IT RIGHT and give them hell for sloppy work, dang I hate incompetent dealers. The shop manual specifically states what will go wrong without proper placement of the washer. HAVE THEM READ THE DAMN BOOK! Man this kind of stuff chaps my ass. (you didn't know that - did you) Picture from under the bike toward top of bike. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/aharbi/Motorcycle/IMG_1454r.jpg -
Wife wiggled at the wrong moment- word to the wise
aharbi replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
I've dropped mine three times. 1)In a gravel parking lot, stopped, my left foot slipped on the gravel before I could put the kickstand down, over she went. 2)Again left side with wife on the back. Pulled up to the gas pump island, the raised island with the yellow metal ring around them. Was too close to put down the kick stand, so put my left foot out on the slippery painted yellow metal ring, down again. Picture this... my wife and I laying on our sides both still on the bike. Some lady walks up to us and starts asking for directions, like this is the way it's suppose to be! 3)Again in a gravel parking lot - facing up hill this time. Bike is stopped, have both feet out, right foot sliding on gravel, have handlebars turned to the left. Use front brake to stop the bike from rolling backwards (still running), front swings around, also sliding on gravel, over she goes, wife still on the back. No damage in any of the falls (except my ego). ps. gravel parking lots suck! -
I see no compelling reason to change it. Newer isn't always better in software and I don't care to be another "beta tester". This site works fine from my iPhone, Android tablet, Windoze 8 desktop and my Linux netbook (when I travel).

What is the function of this item?
aharbi replied to Sexagenarian's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Spike13, you are correct. It is a Air Box Cleaner Drain Filter. Not so much to protect the bike but to protect the environment. -
Any that I have seen are expensive... like over $500 expensive. AKE makes one for Harley for like $599. I don't use bluetooth on the Venture. I plug my GPS into the AUX.

They came standard on my Triumph Trophy. The book says not to rely on them instead of checking pressure with a gauge. Which to me kinda limits the use/need for them. They do work while riding to check I guess for a slow leak. I still get on my hands and knees and check the pressure with an air gauge before each ride. I have noticed that the pressure will increase as much as 5-7lbs when the tires get hot.

Mint is Ubuntu based, Ubuntu is Debian based which in turn gets it from the source libraries. Linux is Linux just packaged differently with different window managers. You can get it stripped down or as robust as you choose. That's what so great about it - freedom of choice, free to use and it's fast. I even have it running on my old GameCube as part of my home security. I was disappointed when I read today that Adobe will no longer be supporting Linux. Time for some open source media players to step in.

Don't hold your breath, Sena has been promising it since 2009 (read it on their forum).

In good condition a 1993 is $4035, a 2003 is $6,770 -
15 lbs pressure in front tire
aharbi replied to bngarner's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Not to lecture but I check tire pressure before each ride. I run Avon's with 40 up front and 50 in back. -

Another L.E.D. question
aharbi replied to jasonm.'s topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Amen to the LED turn signals. LED passing lamps, tail/brake light, marker/side lights or even headlight. Agree it's a waste of time/money. I replaced the front with LED moon-something's but left the rear OEM, they blink at the right rate and autocancel. -
I don't understand. Yes the GPS is a Zumo and has bluetooth. How do I get it to autoanswer. The iPhone is kinda neat and all but as a phone it stinks, my flip phone worked better with headsets.
-
I use the Follow Me app. Kinda like a SPOT tracks your travels and needs cell coverage.

The longer the arm the more bounce.

When I started riding again back in 2005 after a 32 year hiatus I bought the Chatterbox HJC-50 intercom. The main purpose was the intercom so my wife and I could chat, it put her at ease. I could also use it solo riding to listen to MP3 music and answer my cell phone by pushing a button. Also switching cables to the headset I could use either only the phone (auto answer) or with an audio cable listen to music both without using the HJC-50 controller. So I have 2 helmets with HJC headsets. In 2007 I got the Venture mainly because my wife really enjoys riding with me. We wanted a bigger bike, more room, more comfy. So we get new helmets with new J&M headsets and use the intercom/audio system of the Venture. I gain CB capability, cassette music, GPS/MP3 thru the Aux but loose cell phone capability which is not a big deal because the person that would call me in now behind me on the intercom. So now I have 4 helmets and 2 sets of non-interchangeable/noncompatible headsets. I've kept the previous bikes and added a new Triumph. Everything is bluetooth, none of the previous headsets work. So, yes once again I buy a new helmet and a Sena SMH10 bluetooth headset. I also update my cell phone to an iPhone because the bike is iPhone, iPod, iPad, GPS "ready". So now I have AM/FM/XM/Weather/Traffic, USB, MP3, GPS and cell phone (but no CB). My wife loves the Venture and probably will not ride with me on the Triumph. So now I have 5 helmets and 3 sets of non-interchangeable/noncompatible headsets. So whats the dilemma? On venture group rides I like to use the CB, if I do I can't use the iPhone. Has anyone figured out how to use the iPhone with the Venture wired headsets?

I pretty much do the same. At times when my hand is busy with the clutch I give a helmet knod. Due to their riding position, it's hard for a sport bike rider to actually wave back, but watch their left hand they do lift and wiggle their fingers.
