May is too soon. Most of the mountain passes don't open till mid/late June. Beartooth (Red Lodge) is in the opposite direction from 287 out of Yellowstone. Unless of course and it's well worth it to ride to Red Lodge and back :-)

No, he IS correct. As he said the SM10 will not let you transmit (talk) only receive audio. What you say is true as in what the iPhone does but the SM10 does not. My iPhone has a 4 poll 3.5mm jack, gnd, right, left, mic.

Don't know why but my Venture seems tobe harder on batteries than my other bikes. I get 3 years out of a battery. The last one I put in was an AGM X2 Power (X2-20L) has a 24 month free replacement. Got it locally at http://www.batteriesplus.com. If I recall I paid right around $100. Could of got it less expensive online but the last one I got online lasted 3 months (one year warranty) and they gave me such grief to return it. I swore would never get another online and I haven't. I wanted someone local that I could ah... touch face to face :-) I also have and use three battery tenders, summer or winter, they can detect a problem before you find out "on the road". You can get them cheap, someone has them on sale all the time. I only use the brand name Deltran Battery Tender.

Me too, Me too! Do I need/want one too?

You have been blessed with a wonderful family Big Tom

Or she could follow you in the car. Get a cheap CB for her in the car. You can carry extra gear, tools etc. But if you must tow it, get a trailer. Most any car can pull 1,000 lbs.

Leaving the Vogel Rally, gotta LOVE that P.A. System folks!!

Thanks for Sharing cowpuc, enjoyed the video and the comments. I vacation north of you on the lake each summer. The place my grandparents settled when they left Sweden for this country in 1904. They are buried in Manistee. Last summer we followed a two-up Harley pulling a trailer out of Austin. We were in a car, I ran "wing man" for them till Dallas. Two days later we met them eating lunch at the Boston Market in Holland. We had a great visit and lunch together. -
I love my Venture. It has never let me down. I do all my own maintenance, I hate to have anyone but me touch it. Cause I'm the only one that will do it right. Except tires, I take the wheels off and have the dealer mount/balance the new ones but that may change as they just raised the price to $39 per loose tire and only if you bought the tire from the dealer. So I was greatly saddened when I noticed this under my bike today. And I don't think it's from drinking beer either. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/aharbi/Motorcycle/PC206433r.jpg Glad it's green in color, makes it easier to trace. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/aharbi/Motorcycle/PC206431r.jpg It's been cold here, well sorta for Texas but not below freezing. I think contracting from the cold was just enough to make it leak. In fact the plug fell out when I removed the cylinder head side cover. Where last summer I had to use the sparkplug to remove it from a tight fit when I did a coolant flush/replace. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/aharbi/Motorcycle/PC206432r.jpg Should of searched here first instead of searching the parts manual before finding it under crankcase #9 PN:90338-11152-00 MSRP $6.49. But can be found from $12.00 to $4.58 ech. I paid the $4.58 (x 4) + postage so I saved $1.25 under MSRP and who knows what stealer price is. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/aharbi/Motorcycle/1aeeefce-c5f7-4c78-b077-dd021fd7ad46.gif Was hoping to take wife, daughters, grandkids for a ride over Christmas vacation. Hope the holiday mail doesn't slow things down too much. Wish y'all a very Merry Christmas!

I'd walk away from it. Just don't smell right. Only 700 miles? Who puts a drink holder and trunk tie downs on a bike with only 700 miles. Looks too weathered for something not ridden. It ain't right. and $6,200 for a 2001 is no bargain either.

Can't see paying the price for "motorcycle boots" unless you are a sportsbike track rider. I use the 11" wellington slip on boot (I don't like laces on riding boots). My winter boots are both waterproof all leather with Gore Tex and one has Thinsulate lining. One pair is made by Rocky the other by Cabela's which is where I bought both pair. Wait for a sale, they can be had for around $100.

Use no profanity. Keep to the facts. No name calling but use things like unethical practice, deliberate intent to decieve, not dealing in good faith, etc. You can call them cheats, liers, sheisters without getting thrown out yet have your comments entered inthe minutes. Also if you can get any media coverage at all is a great help just to have them see a news car parked out front has a real calming effect on council. Good luck

Kinda looks like a $30,000 2003 Honda Rune to me.

I hope it comes with the i-simple. I saw the other link where it costs $225, yikes you could buy a bluetooth headset for that price. Anyway, saw your post. Just so happens I have my fairing split, so I took a few pictures for ya. Sorry about the pink tint (should be white) guess my camera didn't like the cold, or maybe it's the 12 florescent shop lights I have hanging from the ceiling. I have a 3 compartment windshield bag. I keep my iPod in the far right. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/aharbi/Motorcycle/IMG_1461.jpg The blue Velcro wire tie is holding the splitter. The black wire comes from back of tapedeck. The white wire is the one I installed and goes to the top of my gas tank. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/aharbi/Motorcycle/IMG_1456.jpg Picture of back of tapedeck. The small wire goes to the splitter (after you unplug it :-) http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/aharbi/Motorcycle/IMG_1457.jpg I just followed the audio cable and fed the wire out the same notch in the gas tank cover thing. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/aharbi/Motorcycle/IMG_1459.jpg Hope this helps.

Keep that "white stuff" up your way. Rumor has it we might get it later this afternoon. And when/if we do a 1/4" shuts down the cities from Dallas, Waco, Austin to San Antonio. Ya'll in the panhandle are like in a whole other country

Try renting a car at night in a strange city. I've had the attendent come over to the car wanting to know what's wrong. As I sit with the door open trying to read the buttons just to find the headlight switch! I've also learned to find the windshield wiper switch before I need it. Sometimes on the right of the column sometimes on the left. Sometimes a push button on the dash, sometimes on the column, it's a scavanger hunt.

1) Who talks like that? 2) Dude change jobs... yours sucks 3) yep a scam

It all depends on the amount of rain we get over the winter. More rain=more flowers. Might you consider the historic Natchez Trace from TN to MS. Look like you have all the high points on the links posted. You camping or hotels and if major chains or Mom/Pop motels? I know several in the hill country for $28-$35/nite.

I use Shell T6 synthetic in all my bikes, never had a problem. Never "wore-out" an engine. I always change oil and filter between 4k - 5k miles but have gone to 6k when on a trip. And it is less expensive than dino oil and expensive motorcycle only oils. Works for me.
-
Sorry to see that, what a shame, how sad. Hope insurance does you right, maybe the next one will be just as nice or better.
-
But what about the bike? is it ok? Any damage?
