  1. Lots of possible options; many listed here. To answer your question about the driver thing - YES it IS possible that a driver did something goofy and shut off the display; I would say this is unlikely, but certainly possible. You can go to HP.com and download the latest HP certified driver or any of the video drivers along the way or you can get them directly from nVidia by going to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us (there is an 'automatically detect' function that you may be able to use if choose to). The other option that I did not see listed here is that the actual connections that connect the monitor to the motherboard flex every time you open and close the machine. Eventually those connections may wear and break or short out. In your case it could be an intermittent short. I think that this is VERY unlikely given the age of your computer, but it is still a possibility. Personally, I would check the 'monitor' button deeley (obviously that is a 'techincal' term ) that Dr. Bar suggested first, then look for drivers and/or do some research to see which of the nVidia cards failed (as I believe HP actually had a recall out for those, but I do NOT remember where I read about that or the validity of it - but going to HP.com and searching under 'support' for your particular machine ought to be able to answer those kinds of questions). It certainly could be the monitor toggle thing BUT unless it was changed in the BIOS, notebook computers default to the affixed screen upon boot (unless an outside one is attached) so in my opinion, based on the description of the problem you gave, would think that this is an unlikely source. That is, unless you saw the screen flicker when you turn it on then it went black... Good Luck!! Hopefully it is something simple
  2. I like the secondary side-stand/Jack-stand they have under there
  3. Just wondering what your experience is with the Progressive Suspension Air Fork Balance Kit. 1) How long have you had them? 2) Have you had any trouble with them leaking? 3) Would you buy them again? 4) If you are not using this kit how do you manage your front fork air pressure or do you leave it at “0”? I use a progressive Air Pump with a Zero loss chuck with air around 4psi.
  4. Awesome! Fortunately I have a great honda dealer (that is actually a Yamaha Authorized dealer, so I can get the parts I need through them - and they price somewhere in between MSRP and their cost) Opposed to the yamaha only dealer that is just one giant rip... And then some - obviously. Wish the Yamaha dealer was good like that though... Oh well.
  5. OOoooooooooo that sure is purdy!!
  6. Walmart, home-depot, lowes, and ace were all no-gos here - they did not have the blanks. I went to a locksmith that advertised that they do automotive stuff and they had it. It cost me a grand total of 4.50. But I had 3 keys made (1.50 each). That guy has my business for any key I need now! Last time I had a key made at HD or Walmart it ended up costing me 2+ bucks... Oh yea, the Local Yamaha dealer (that I'm not too fond of anyways) wanted $30 for the blank. Plus a special order fee. (but my local dealer is pretty special that way).
  7. Seriously though, welcome and as part of an unwritten rule here, when you get your bike posted pictures are a must!! I'm sure you'll love it Good luck, have fun, be safe etc. Gdspeed, - Rick
  8. Better watch it you may get more than you bargained for!!
  9. Got this taken care of. Thank again Ron!! (and all of you smart a**es) And of course Anne for keeping it PG in here...
  10. Did this ever get resolved? Was it the neutral indicator switch or the dash? Did the dealer fix it or did you do it your self? My neutral light is intermittent (on very rare occasion - usually after many hours of riding does it not come on) and wonder what there is to pulling the switch and cleaning it?
  11. Is it ever too early to get to a hooters?
  12. I guess some of this goes to show that common sense is not all that common anymore... Sheesh
  13. You are going to get some people that say it is the best thing you can do for it and others that say no way... I personally would not use a full can in the 6 gallon tank unless I knew for sure my carbs were really bad and I was going to specifically let it sit in the carbs for a night or something to let it do its thing - and then I would mix up a batch of the concentrated seafoam/gas mixture and pull it through the fuel system out of a gas can so that I can control exactly how much gets pulled in. If I recall correctly the directions specify an approximate ~1oz of SeaFoam for every 1 gallon of fuel.
  14. I think Chuck Norris had the off-raod version of this in Delta Force... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTPjWrDmsZ0]YouTube - The delta force dirtbike.[/ame]
  15. I have talked to lots of people that have backrests and not a single one of them have said that their passenger has a hard time mounting the bike OR experience any discomfort while riding (due to the back rest being there). My 2 problems/concerns with a backrest are: 1) I like to move around when I ride by my self and the backrest will not restrict me as much as I had expected but it WILL restrict me from sitting on the passenger seat while I ride, which on long hauls may be an issue. 2) Sometimes my passenger likes to sit real close to me, especially on cold days, and with that backrest in the middle I'm pretty sure I won't get that anymore
  16. Ruffy: I'm still in! I'm looking forward to it, as we are having temperatures dipping in to the 30s and I'm feeling some of this cold wind that folks complain about. Thanks a lot!!
  17. Yea. I solved the helmet hammering by installing helmet headsets. Unfortunately the whine is worse than ever unless I set the ol' IC to 0... But then the dreaded knocking comes back.
  18. It would seem that not all whines are created equal. Between 50 and 65 in 5th Mine is really bad but it gets quieter as speed increases. Once I get to around 65 it is barely audible in comparison to the engine noise, exhaust noise (OEM exhaust) and the wind. Anything above 70 or so, I cannot really hear it at all. I deal with it by not shifting into 5th until I'm above 65 or 70 or so.
  19. Don't forget to check the headlight fluid... Sorry, I couldn't resist. Lots of good help here, Good luck.
  20. Gotcha. Thanks, I'll be keeping an eye on this.
  21. Thanks for the info, that is great customer service right there! What is this cleaning solution that he set you up with? You said you can get it 3 miles down the road from you; is it a repair shop that you buy it from some guy in a trench coat? or you just have to ask for a bottle of it from a shop that is using it and they can sell it over the counter?
  22. FANTASTIC!! :clap2: Thanks!
