Hey hey not for EVERYONE. We are not due for more snow for a while yet. We got our dusting a few days ago, now we'll be back up in the 40-60s No rush here, so another day won't hurt too much

:sign woo hoo: Congrats!! I'll tell you what, the more I see that color scheme the more I like it Definitely check the antenna wire routing; as Bummer said they are backwards. There are a couple of good articles about 'things to do' with the new bike. ie. checking anntennae, loc-tite-ing bolts, etc. Again, congrats and enjoy!! :thumbsup2: P.S. now that you have a picture, we believe you

Yea, oddly enough we are not an 'open carry' state though... I'd like to figure THAT one out Haha - NO KIDDING

+1 to following the instructions. Mine says it right on the label. "Charging instructions ... blah blah blah" You also would want to double check to make sure that the charge is necessary. As SilverT stated, some come 'fully charged'. So in the instructions there may be instructions as to what to do to determine whether a charge is necessary or not.

Thanks for sharing!! At least, when it happened to YOU, you were in the privacy of your own shed and not in a public place like... Oh say an intersection or a gas station. But, like sylvester implied. That has NEVER happened to any other than you...

What year is your bike? I presume since you say your warranty runs out in 2010 thatyour bike is either an 05 or an 06. I believe that there is a service/technical bulletin on some of the bikes that the heads were not torqued properly at the factory and had potentially caused coolant/oil leakage... I may be wrong on the years for this, but I'm sure someone will chime in. To answer your question, the only thing that cause this to be something the warranty wouldn't cover is if there is reasonable believe (and proof) that you neglected something on the bike that caused the problem. So, hopefully they make it right and you have your bike back reasonably quickly Good luck!!

Thanks Don

That is what prompted me to think about the condition of his batter/charging system...

I'll go out on a limb here and say this is flawed logic. They've been making the 99 Venture for 11 production years now...

Hey Tom: In the VRStore, the post by freebird says to "PM me with the order information" Does that mean that we are to pm YOU or don? I am pretty sure that the intent is to PM you (Tom) with the order information, but I just want to make sure.

I'm interested. BUT, our weather here is not quite as nice as DFW, so that is going to have to be a factor for whether I could make it or not. I don't know that I need my floats set (but based on what you have said Kent, they are probably way out of spec), but I'm due for a valve adjustment check. I definitely want to learn. I have rebuilt car motors, but have not torn into a bike before... I'll stay tuned for sure.

:sign woo hoo::sign woo hoo: PM received and payment sent! So unless I really screwed up somewhere, you should have some $$$ Thanks a lot for all this Jeff (and Dan). Have a merry Christmas and happy new year too! - Rick

Where are you in Texas? It was 15 degrees at my house and my bike ran with no problem. I started it in the (non-heated) garage (I actually had to choke it this morning), backed out, turned off the choke and took off. Total running time with choke in was probably 30 seconds to 1 minute. I do not use a battery tender or anything like that either. I did not notice a significant difference in idle speed or anything with or without choke. Ran like it usually does. I suppose a few things to ask yourself are: How old is that battery? What condition is the charging system in? When was the last time you ran a fuel system cleaner through the bike? etc. I'll stop here because I realize that I am not answering your question. **Hope you get started and take off fine at the end of your work day!

Had one of those here in Lubbock, TX today too.... Although it was just a delayed start. I found out after I got to my office and found no one else around. Oh well. That just means I get a few hours to work, undisturbed. Oh yea, I rode my bike in today News story about how "bad" it was this morning to get school delayed... I guess I come in too early, as I beat the freezing rain... http://www.kcbd.com/global/Story.asp?s=11644094

passing lights and rear lights

I am suprised that no one has mentioned this yet... I (and many others here) have put a 15" light bar, mounted between the helmet locks. Mine cost me about $20 from a local truck stop and $0.50 in two bolts, lock washers and nuts. http://signaldynamics.com/products/LightBars/15ultra.asp (Pretty much what I have) I also put in a 32LED board in the tail lamp (plug and play right in the light bulb socket). That was a little more expensive, but it IS very VERY visible, even in the day time. http://www.bikerhiway.com/led-tail-light-for-yamaha-road-star-and-vstar-p-176.html I believe I got mine for 40 or 45 from here, looks like the price went up. You may be able to find it cheaper else where. I'll see about taking some pictures when I get home (since I don't have my camera now). Hope that helps. -
:clap2: Thanks a lot!!

That is a guaranteed way to have no on ever ride with me again...
-
I think I'll mount this on my Helmet.

If I only had the cash... :mo money:

http://www.signaldynamics.com/products/Modules/HUVM.asp - Is this the one you are referring to? the ~$27 single LED?

Whichever way she wants it is correct... Even if she changes her mind, she is still correct. Me; mine sits on the back of the lou - and I hear no complaints. Although, I don't share that water closet with anyone either...

Sorry...

I think you need to use the "insert link" and pastethe URL into there... Maybe someone else will chime in that will be more helpful.

Well, I am impressed. The 'tool' does exist. I bet I couldn't get that through customs... Mostly because I don't know that anyone would believe what it is for Glad your bike's whine is much better too!!!
