    1) Coastline 2) Mountains/hills (despite having to focus much on the road and not so much on the scenery) 3) Rolling hills 4) I guess, by default, prairies and flatlands have to come here even though they would otherwise be further down the list. I don't mind a straight, flat road every once and a while but I think they get old pretty quick.

    I would think that this would probably be okay for a first impact (presuming the velcro holds pretty well), but may loosen up on repeated blows to the 'ol melon. I guess I have never minded the two loops, but maybe as I get older I'll change my mind.

    I think what might happen, as Randy alluded to, is that if someone is logged in to their e-bay account and simply copies and pastes the URL (instead of using the 'share' link - or however they have it labeled - within the ebay listing that gives you a direct link to that page) it doesn't actually allow someone, not logged into the original poster's account, to view it. The other thought is that sometimes people do post links to e-bay items that auctions have ended. Sometimes an ended item is removed from ebay immediately - thereby rendering the supplied link 'broken'. Just some thoguhts.

    On my 01, inside the saddlebag lid (under the plastic cover mechanism that covers the latching stuff - on the lid) there is a key code that [i presume] goes with the bag locks. You could try that with a local locksmith that cuts keys to manufacture codes. I suspect that if you take the lock out, you could take it into a locksmith and they probably could cut you a key from that, but I am no locksmith so I'll pipe down. We do have a resident locksmith here, maybe he'll chime in with some ideas

    Hey hey, Glad you are back!! Not to put a damper on anything, but two years ago I had whooping cough too. It took ~4 to 5 months to get to the point that I could go through most of the day without a cough/weeze/struggle for air/however you want to describe it. It took a month and a half to figure out what it was too (and that isn't counted in the above). SO, hopefully yours will go away MUCH MUCH more quickly. Anyways: Here's to your return and a speedy and complete recovery all the way around

    That is correct. BUT, my understanding of this is that the cable that comes out of the CB box is not long enough to actually connect to the CB antenna IF the CB antenna is mounted on the wrong side - therefore the radio antenna gets plugged into the CB box if it is on the wrong side. So if, during assembly, the CB box (under the trunk) was installed backwards (which I am pretty sure it cannot be) THEN it would be possible to have the antennas switched and still be plugged into the appropriate units.

    A friend of mine in High School (a few years back) was killed this way. She was riding (as a passenger) and they got rear ended at a four way stop. The driver (also a friend of mine) was bruised up a little bit, but okay. She flew off the back and ended up in the middle of the intersection but broke her neck in the process. Still to this day, anytime I even THINK about slowing down, or sitting somewhere stopped I ALWAYS have one eye on the mirrors ready to pull out of the way. Also, I make a point to always have an out. This may seem a little paranoid or whatever, but It has saved my life a few times now. Sounds like you got pretty lucky. If it were me in your shoes, I don't know if would have been someone's hood ornament, being fished out of the ditch, or be sitting there [as you were] except with a little more cushioning in the panteloneses. GLAD YOU ARE OKAY!!!!!

    Before you waste any money at a stealer [unless your shop is someone that you really do trust] you may want to make a new thread requesting a carb sync in your area; someone nearby you may have a tool to do it and may be willing to help. This will save you some cash AND make sure that the job is done correctly! By the way, make sure you look up the procedure on here to do it since the one in the service manual is incorrect.

    I wonder if, when the tech was replacing your radio control pod, the tech yanked the cable out without pushing the release (on the two connectors' end) bending the connector enough that on cold days, when things contracted (the little that they would) it was enough to cause an intermittent connection? Seems a little unlikely, BUT as others have mentioned and many have experienced - there is no reason that these units should act up in the cold (other than maybe something goofy with the display it self). Hopefully what you've done will have fixed the problem. If not, and I were you, I might be pressuring a local dealer (or in your case, whatever dealer you could get to that would honor your warranty) to get you a new main radio unit (since they run 1400 bucks, new).

    I went to High school in Antioch and I'm pretty 'out-doorsy' so I've spent quite a bit of time there as well as various other places (most of the nearby ones were in southern Wisconsin). If you don't mind a little bit of a drive from Gurnee to your campsite, Kettle-moraine (State Park in Wisconsin) would be my choice. Big Foot Beach would be a little bit closer, but not quite as nice.

    Zion state park has some nice sites, and it is right on Lake Michigan. http://dnr.state.il.us/LANDS/LANDMGT/PARKS/R2/ILBEACH.HTM#Camping That is probably the closest thing available. Some of the 'chain of lakes' parks have decent sites too (though they are west of Gurnee by 5-20 miles depending on which one you would want to head to)... The lakes get real crowded in the summer, but it is mostly boating traffic - I don't know about the campground(s).

    Yup yup. I have not doubts that the price will drop, it never takes long and the GARMIN MSRP is pretty much worthless (as with most MSRPs). A while back I used to sell GPS units and we had a decent mark up (over the store's cost) and even with that markup it was no where near the MSRP. I'm sure it is a nice unit and it sounds like those that have the Zumos really do like them a lot. My GPS V Deluxe still serves me just fine... when I use it. My g/f's mom got me a Ram mount that is compatible with the G/F's Garmin Nuvi 255W (I think) so "we" may start using that sometime in the future but as of right now. Anyways, different story for a different time. As far as rain protection goes, I hadn't considered running sealant around it - I had just planned on using the plastic bag method in a pinch. Although, my GPS V claims to be water resistant up to 3 meters or something, it doesn't make its way on the bike very often either... Watch it, I think we may be out numbered
