Stock is a Sumitomo 2 position 0.090 waterproof MT connector, fused at 5 A. 5A = 5000 milliamps. V7Goose posted a way to use this connector -- basically removing the plugs from the end and shoving wires through. I have done this on mine and it works great. Others snip the end off and wire up whatever end they wanted on it...

Another option is to actually address the issue. The 'ticking' folks hear in the IC system that is typically described is believed to be caused by EM induction in the IC wires running under the tank over or near one of the ignition coils. If you remove the fuel tank and the 'cable guides' you can easily re-route the audio cable and get it away from the ignition coil. Mine was really bad if I turned the IC volume above 12 or so, until I routed the cable properly - now I can have it all the way up to 20 and not have any ticking at all. By the way, I will probably have my tank off sometime in the next week or so, if I do I can take some pictures to show this but there are probably some already up here somewhere....

Shucks -- too slow. I have been looking to try a shorter one and just have not wanted to cut down my good one yet. If something falls through with this, let me know, I could even come pick it up

Leaving that seat empty seems to work about as well...

Wow, nice!

HAHA. Rick, come on now. You KNOW all you need to do is tell her how much more SHE will like this new ride. Beyond that, I am staying out of this one. I am pretty sure Nina could take both of us...

Anyone here make a 'hitch' Cooler or Luggage Rack?

Oh hey, that is pretty slick . A member has already picked up materials to build one to my specs. In ALL of the searching I did, I have no clue how I did not run across your thread on this -

Good to know -- thanks for the additional info -
Is it on BOTH sides or just one? Mine was on one side only... Front and rear happened on DIFFERENT sides... I went straight through Avon and they did the warranty replacement through my local dealer/tire rep... 3 Sets this way and they finally bought me a set of E3s.

Yikes! Sounds like a good time :-\

I recently replaced a set of E3s because of some slipping... At first I thought maybe I just hit some oil in an intersection or something but it happened a few times after that as well. I had 21k on both front and read and there was some tread left [although it was at the wear bars]. Incidentally - Last spring I was riding with a fellow member here on a very warm day (~100) and we stopped at some point to chat about where to find food and we talked tires... we both felt slippage that day in a number of places. NOT comfortable, at all. I was happy with the E3s but after several times of feeling the slippage, I just don't know anymore. I am on a set of D404 [emergency replacements] and already time to replace (worn out) so I don't know what to do... the last 3 sets of Avons cracked within weeks of being on... E3s are ... 404s, Love the tread pattern and wet handling but I cannot be replacing tires every 10-15k... Far too often for me... Anyway -- I don't know what to tell you about the slipping on your E3 as the first time I noticed mine was after ~15k on the tires... ***EDIT*** I usually was happiest with my E3s F/R at 41/40 PSI but tried various other combinations...

Hey... Not only do I know what a cassette is... I actually USE mine. Maybe that makes me a not-so-youngster Just to be a little more clear here, there is an adapter that will work with ANY iPod -- it is NOT specific to the venture. The adapter plugs into the existing audio system in place of the CD changer which gives the rider some control capabilities over the ipod from the handlebar mounted control. There is a 3.5mm 'line in' port next to the tape deck that takes a standard 3.5mm audio cable and will run the audio through the system.

Good to know. Do you have the stock shock on your bike? Messed with the air in it to try to help the handling? Aftermarket shock? Mess with the preload, etc? I have a works shock on mine -- configured for a 200 lb rider and 60 lbs of "luggage"... I expect you to be well rehearsed then... -

Thanks - Another member offered, via PM first so I will be talking with them first. Thank you for the offer, I do appreciate it. Cheers. -

Rut oh... Was I that obvious? Um... I mean... I have no idea what you are talking about... uh... yeah... that's it! :D:D Or maybe it is just wishful thinking that someone's skills may be learned soon enough... -

Very nice Larry! I have a light bar under my trunk and would DEFINITELY add more lights to the back of whatever gets put on. I don't think I would need something quite as big as what is on the back of your trike though... --- As for the 'Rivco' one, that seems like it is reasonable too but like I said, I was thinking if we had a member that was able and willing to throw one together [or was already doing so] I would rather support the member [and have some say in the specs] than buy it from someone else. -
I know we have a lot of talented members here and I am not one of them (when it comes to fabrication with fancy metal). I have seen some posts from several years ago that Squid and Carbon_one used to build these but I would like to renew the question. Does anyone currently [or would be willing to] make a luggage rack that would go into the hitch for our bikes? http://thumbs3.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mYB1qJ4DBf2wd9qfXu96AJQ.jpg This style is what I had in mind. I am interested in a way of mounting my 5 gallon tour tank that will allow me to still have a passenger as right now it is mounted in place of the passenger seat. I like the efficiency and simplicity of this arrangement but do not like that (1) trunk opening is limited because the backrest bumps the top of the tank and (2) I cannot use my Aux tank if I have a passenger (which is going to be an issue in a few weeks). I am not concerned about relocating the license plate, adding lights and whatnot as I am capable of doing electrical work and minor modifications. The tourtank itself weighs maybe ~10 lbs and with 5 gallons of fuel we are looking at maybe, what, 40 lbs total? I can come up with a quick drawing and specific dimensions. The tourtank is 10" x 16" at the widest points and is cylidrical. I have brackets that go around the tank and provide a flat surface in which one can bolt the tank to another mating surface. My tank is what is labeled 4.75 gal configuration #2 (http://www.tourtank.com/TourTanks.html ) I have found some on e-bay but I would much rather support a fellow member [not to mention I have a tendency to trust the skills of our members more than an unknown...] Thanks in advance for your interest. :mo money:

Apparently it was a shower...

Well I will keep an eye on your thread to see when and where you may end up... I do need to give this handy-dandy tourtank a good workout Ahem. And how many times have I seen you up in America's hat? Point is, it clearly works

No worries Jack -- I guess I missed the ambiguity in your response (40% 'mark up' from cost vs 40% over msrp) and interpreted it incorrectly based on the wording in my initial post. I could have been more clear as well. You're on. I am usually up a few times every year.
-
A few years back I lived in Pine Valley Estates there in Hamburg... One of these days we'll have to meet up for a meal, ride or some ice cream [or some subset therein]. Jack -- I understand all of this, but really 40% up on MSRP/List? I totally understand 50 to 75% above dealer cost... Not to mention the HONDA dealer that I get my YAMAHA parts from sells to me for somewhere between 20 and 30% below MSRP/List price. They still make money, keep a customer happy and continue to earn my business. If my local Yamaha dealer wants to charge the way they do, that is their prerogative just as it is mine to chose which local dealership to take my business.
-
My local Yamaha dealer is like this to. 30-50% mark UP of MSRP on all Yamaha parts. It is insane. This is why I get ALL of my YAMAHA parts from my local HONDA dealer or online... The parts manager at the Honda dealer does price match online stuff, within reason, (although he hardly ever has to because their prices are usually as good or better). Although within the last year, their prices and service has been on the decline so I am starting to shift my business elswhere... They had some management rearranging happen... Oh well. As for C&C in Brighton -- the couple of times I got parts from them or tires mounted I got different prices depending on who I talked with. It was the strangest thing -- one would be outrageously high, the other quite reasonable. Now I only deal with them when I am up at my parents' (near 23 & Spencer road)...

What a great idea! If you are ever within a few hundred miles of Lubbock, let me know, maybe we can work something out.

*monotone chant* "One of us... one of us... one of us..." --- Welcome! Well sure sure picked some 'good' weather to break your new to you bike in, sheesh! I had a similar experience when I picked mine up too -- 40-60 mph winds and thunderstorms for 2 or so hours of the 6 hour ride. It was still a good ride. Here is to many more miles!
