  1. Thanks for checking in. I'm guessing you'll like the south Carolina winter a tad better than the New York ones BEST OF LUCK to ya!!!
  2. glad you got it working
  3. Let's not loose track of the original poster's point here. Bottom line: The OEM rear lighting on these things is absolutely terrible.
  4. Sure it does. Use the existing driver but before you install anything for it make the software/drivers run in 'compatibility' mode via XP (or Vista if you want a headache). That ought to do it.
  5. Last I looked, partshark had the shock for ~450 or so. The Works performance shock goes for ~700 shipped. The work - if you have a jack and the adapter or an overhead winch (some way to lift the rear of the bike) doing the shock is frighteningly easy. When I did mine, I had the old shock off in something like 20 or maybe 30 minutes (including getting out tools, jacking bike up, etc). If mine had fit right the first time I would have had it done, start to my test ride within 45 mintues to 1 hour.
  6. Lol... Yeah - She was pretty good looking. But I don't have one of those so I guess it didn't happen. I have abso-friggen-lutely NO idea what you are talking about...
  7. First of all, the stock rear lighting on these bikes are a total joke. My first additions were 32 LED Tail light, 15" light bar under trunk, and a compact air horn. I do not have the 'Diamond R' Light bar, however I have one that looks just like it. It is dual function (3 running lights, then the whole thing lights up for the brake light) and it cost me a grand total of $15 bucks plus 2 bucks for the mounting bolts and nuts from home depot. Truck stops are a great place for these kinds of items. the 15" light bar is a standard trailer light. One place they are available online (if you don't/cant find them at a truck stop) is here: http://www.customdynamics.com/Light_bars.htm -- about 1/2 way down #0315 $22.95 It mounts directly to the helmet locks - no drilling required. Also, you may want to look into an LED tail light replacement too. The Radientz lights are guaranteed for life, and VERY bright. They come in a 32 bulb and 100 bulb variety. one place to get it is here: http://www.customdynamics.com/Yamaha_tail_retro.htm or http://www.bikerhiway.com/led-tail-light-for-yamaha-road-star-and-vstar-p-176.html *** I have nothing against Diamond R - I'm sure they are good people. Sorry, I just think $55 + S/H for that light bar is a bit of a rip.
  8. Ruh oh! You let the magic smoke out. You are very welcome. You can make the check out to 'cash' and send it directly to me. You already DID tell us... You let the magic smoke out - sheesh! Nope. It is going to be here to haunt you FOR-EV-ER!
  9. :yikes::yikes: Someday. here was my first ride (and another one a few years later): [pic attached] That's where this picture went. My friend has a camera (with a phone on it) and took care of it for the mother; she was pretty happy about it.
  10. You folks in Vancouver probably have no idea this is going on, but the 2010 world championship Wheelchair rugby (Murderball) is happening in your own town! The last game is scheduled to be held on the 26th but the schedule has a relatively full day tomorrow and Saturday, so there is plenty to see - if you are interested, that is. http://www.2010wwrc.com/news-results/results The games are being held in two different courts in the 'Richmond Olympic oval'. I'm sure my cousin would be happy to have additional support!!
  11. :sign isnt that spec Actually, that is rather impressive. Certainly glad no one was hurt - I wonder how surprised the driver was when he (or she) woke up.
  12. Well, I took a few hours this evening to give a friend of mine a hand moving. She had a bunch of bulky and heavy items she couldn't get her self, so no big deal. Got them moved to her new place. On my way out, we were chatting in the front of her building when another young lady walked up. We all three talked for a few minutes (apparently this gal is the mother of three young boys). I saw one of them bolt out towards my bike and was a little uneasy because I didn't want him to get hurt. I got close behind him and saw his curious little hands and big eyes looking at himself in the [dirty] chrome parts that are just the right height for him to see him self. Despite the 'don't touch the shiny parts, they are really hot and WILL hurt you' the boy looked at me and said he really liked it and asked if it was mine. I responded "thank you very much, and yes it is". I mentioned again that he needs to take a step back because it is hot and it will hurt him. Well, he asked some other questions about it (as a curious little 4 year old would do) and I started fishing around in my trunk to get my helmet and stuff out so I could take off while he was once again was drawn to the shiny parts. Despite the additional reminder of you can look but don't touch, he turned and looked at his mom then looked back at himself and with his little pointer finger very quickly poked at the image of him self in the side of the cover that encases the clutch basket (all of this was within a matter of seconds and I couldn't get to him in time to stop him). My bike had sat there for no more than 10 minutes after being ridden for probably about an hour. It wasn't really hot, but it was hot enough that he learned his lesson. He didn't cry but he wasn't happy about it either. Anyways, by this time the other one was out asking questions too. They both wanted to go for a ride, but settled for sitting on it. They got a kick out of that. In addition to sitting on it, I suggested that if one of them wanted to hear something cool, push this little black button... The air-horn blasted and boy that surprised them both (and the mother too). Anyways, the 10 or 15 minutes I spent answering their questions and letting them ooo and ahh, really reminded me of what it was like to be that age and be so excited to head to my grandparents house. I would always get a ride on my grandpa's wing when we went over there and I always remember how excited my grandpa was when I would ask him about his bike. These are not my kids, and I am a ways away from having kids but seeing how excited they were about my bike brought back some memories and I just thought I would share.
  13. Well, an easy solution to that is don't shift into 5th
  14. :happy65::happy65::happy65: I guess I should've gotten ya'll autograph last time I was there last time - you know, before you were famous and all
  15. Another thought here is that sometimes production companies will take lots of film for a particular project, but keep the rest of the shots of generic stuff (people walking, jumping, riding bicycles/motorcycles, or cars, etc) and sell clips of them off to companies that hire a production company to design and make a particular ad. SO, it is possible that some of that footage will end up being used in something other than just what the initial intent was. Just a thought. By the way Condor - do you normally watch TV with a camera in hand or what?!?!?
  16. Allthough if you are actually getting the cberr on the display, It may be a more serious issue. Also check the connectors under the passenger seat. If this is on your 05 RSV, double checking when your warranty expires would be something that I would do YESTERDAY! The radio amp, CB and handlebar controls are NOT cheap! And if you are within a few weeks of the warranty expiring, I might still call Yamaha customer service to see if you can get any help from them at all - worst case is you loose a few minutes on the phone with someone that says no in the end. Especailly if you haven't had many issues with your bike under the warranty period.
  17. It looks like you may have been part of the Campbell's soup "It's amazing what soup can do for you" campaign...
  18. A set of those disposable ear plugs (available dirt cheap at wally-world in the sporting goods section, or hardware, etc) does wonders for the whine, wind noise, etc. Hope the rest of your trip is good!!
  19. Forget the TP, just get the hose out... It works for the French.
  20. Just thought I'd throw that out there. And yes, I'm sure it would be a no brainer for the insurance co. to just cut you a check for $4.00 and call it 'good'. Local salvage yards are also a good place to check - you never know! Hopefully you can find someone nearby to give you a hand straigtening the rest of it out. Depending on where the damage actually is and what needs straigtened, a 'come along', a solid tree and a mini sledge make a good combination for some minor adjustments. Depending on how you try to make the 'adjustments' and if it is bent up metal, make your adjustment and hold it in place, then lightly tap around the bent areas with a hammer - this helps relieve any tension/stress in the material so that it will stay put when you remove the added force. If you were close, I'd swing by to give you a hand with that stuff... I put a few hours in a body shop once upon a time... Always loved working with the frame machine. As for my work/riding friend, I actually haven't been out on my bike for a decent ride since my last post on that thread (not including last night's run to see the Cannonball run). She is still looking for a bike and I have been way to swamped with work-related stuff to do any more riding I'll update the original thread as new events arise
  21. Hope everything comes out okay. You might want to add: "Pair of loose fitting pants/shorts" to your list of 'to dos' while you are 'cleaning house'.
  22. The model number off of my 01 RSV's main amp is: Model No: ER-1129V 4XY-88132-00 I have a picture of it too, if you'd like. I do not have the Cassette deck number handy. Why are you trying to locate a service manual for it?
  23. For what it is worth a deer hit is typically considered a comprehensive claim. So it might be worth checking your insurance policy...
  24. Looks like tx2sturgis beat me to it. No sense in posting duplicate pictures. But here is one more to prove it happened Lilbeaver (left), tx2sturgis (right)
