Thanks boss, how about 1sttenor?

I have read of a member or maybe two that have had issues with the part that the sidestand mounts to bending. I believe one of them happened when strapped to a moving trailer or something. Inspecting the sidestand for cut marks where someone may have shortened it as well as the mounting location for damage may have bent the mounting ponit. Regardless, as already stated - what you describe is not normal.

If by 'business attire' you are meaning suit/tie type arrangement - I agree with nicely folding the jacket and putting it in the trunk over whatever else you have and that ought to be just fine. If by 'business attire' you mean a uniform, duty belt and all - for the time that I worked for a small department I kept my uniform, duty gear and all in saddlebags and the trunk and just changed when I got in. At some point I managed to keep 3 or 4 days worth in my locker and just transport the essentials back and forth with me which would then need to include a large bag at some point to transport the old dirties to get cleaned and the clean ones back in. Also this was not on my RSV, but the other bikes I had did have hard luggage. It seems that there are plenty of good ideas here though so you can get it figured out.

You may need to worry about the 'I was blinded by oncoming traffic so I accidentally drifted into the other lane' though... Regardless, nice setup! I bet night riding visibility is amazing!! -
Very nice!!

How about that, another Vancouver M&E with a member that is not from Vancouver. Good stuff! Lots of beautiful riding up there. I guess the people aren't all that bad either

There are three copies of Ride Like a Pro (RLAP) IV or V DVD's that are free for anybody who wants it for FREE so long as they agree to: 1) NOT copy it and 2) Pass it along for FREE to the next person after a short viewing session ie. 1-2 weeks. The sender pays the postage, NOT the recipient, so no money changes hands -- this ought to keep it legal NOTE: By requesting to be added to the list you are agreeing to the above simple rules. If you have a problem with this please do not request to be put on the list. To request to be added or removed to/from the list: Simply post in this thread that you would like to be added or removed and I will take care of it upon my next visit to the thread. Please DO NOT PM me as you will only be put on the list if you post to this thread. If you have requested to be added and you were not: Please forgive my mistake and simply let me know and I will add you to the list in the order of which the requests were put in. One of kitesquid's initial requests were to post something you learned from the video; let's try to keep doing that Some of Kitesquid's original text: "... I am not connected with RLAP, I just want my fellow bikers to have a long and healthy life on two wheels and anyway that we all can learn to ride safely is a good thing!!!!!! By the way, if you are tired of waiting, or would like to purchase your own copy please click HERE to order and be sure to ask for your Venture Rider Forum member discount. IIRC it saves you $5. BTW this DVD is worth every penny!!!!!!!..." I've tried too... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=56587 Although it seems that you have traced a 3rd DVD. I've followed the other two to their disappearance as well in the original RLAP sharing thread. I will add this information to my notes and continue to try to track these suckers down...
-
Added, hopefully these will be found and get moving again. Done I hope that the folks that have them will speak up. I have tried contacting the folks that I THOUGHT have the videos and they had either sent it on to someone else or didn't actually have it. I followed the leads as far as I could and have, unfortunately, been left with nothing. I have tried a few general threads pleading that whoever has it let me know and get it moving again so that it can continue to go around, but, unfortunately I have to say that I am a little pessimistic at this point but will try to contact the folks again to see where they might be. I will certainly post any new information as to the where abouts as I come across them. If you could do the same either post here, on your other thread on this or PM me so we can get these things moving again. Thanks for your efforts too.

Experiences with this GPS RAM Mount ?
LilBeaver replied to bamico's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I have a ram mount setup for my Garmin GPS so I cannot specifically comment on the one you are asking about but I can provide some additional information that may help you make an informed decision. I hardly ever use the GPS mounted to my handlebars, however, the few times I have used it I was nothing less than impressed. I have the 3" arm with mine and have found several orientations that allow me to have full movement of the bars and not compromise any visibility of the radio, speedometer or the road. With the GPS mounted and attached properly, the mount is rock solid and I am plenty confident that it won't be moving anywhere. Several hours of riding with it on and the mount didn't vibrate loose or move at all. I still had the GPS tethered to the handlebars as a fail-safe, but do feel that was unnecessary. I did find that it took me some time to find a location for the ball mount that would allow me to position the GPS in a place that would be out of the way but still visible while driving. I don't care what kind of unit you have, there WILL be an orientation that will make the display impossible to see based on the relative position of the unit and the sun. I do not seem to have a good shot of mine mounted, if you would like I could get one some time tomorrow. Summary: The 'ram mount' setup is high quality and I wouldn't hesitate to go for another one if I ever have a need. YES, they are a bit pricey (mine was a gift, so it wasn't pricey to me) BUT considering what it is holding, I'd rather pay a premium for quality than have to replace a GPS... Answering the question: FOR ME the 3" arm is long enough to provide a variety of mounting locations that yield decent viewing without obstructing handlebar movement or visibility of indicators, speedometer or the radio. -
Well, I hate to say it but your description is clearly resonant with that of a bad shock. To make sure, something that you can do is get under your bike and really look at it to verify that the oil is coming from your shock. If it helps at all, I have attached a picture of my shock after it has been taken out of my bike. Unfortunately (if I recall correctly) I have wiped most of the oil off before taking the pictures (mostly as part of the removal process). For what it is worth, if $550 is the cheapest you can find a Yamahaha shock for, I wouldn't waste your money on that; go with the Works (despite my less than satisfactory experience with customer service) for a little more knowing you'll not have to replace it again. I do believe that during my search for a new shock I found an OEM shock on partshark for ~$430. Remember that the 99-2011 RSVs are all the same with exception to some minor changes. One minor change was the addition of the vent hose on the rear shock done in 2004 (I believe). For example this 2009 rear shock assembly: http://www.partshark.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=1345192&category=Motorcycles&make=YAMAHA&year=2010&fveh=37804 EDIT: oops, I cannot seem to find the others that I had before I removed it from my bike. I will post those if I find them.

One I know of was "Monsta". He sold his RSV but I cannot remember why he sold it nor what he went to. Nice guy though.

Oh boy. Too bad, I know how frustrating it can be to be dealing with this b.s. I have sold a handful of vehicles with the aid of various on-line advertisements and had some major scammers latch on to two of them. What a pain. It seemed like the same one or two based on the initial communication and their response to my very direct response indicating that I was not going to deal with that b.s. Anyhoo, good luck on your sale!!

Excellent info here, thank you for elaborating the way you did. To answer your question, I was very careful to reinstall everything exactly how it was when I took it apart. My purpose in doing so was to change as little as possible during the change-over. I wanted to make sure to remove any unnecessary variables in the changing process. However, I did NOT pay any attention to the 'shape' or edge that existed on each of the steels as I removed or reinstalled - just to put them back in the exact orientation that they came out (rotational orientation as well as front-back). I do have plenty of pictures from the process I can go back and review, although they probably will not show in that great of detail. When I get some time, maybe I'll go ahead and pull it apart to take a look to see and do some testing one way or another. Thanks again. -
Just saw this - Sorry to hear about it... Hope all is as okay as it can be considering the situation. Yikes.

Yes, good advice here. Since my install I have spent some serious parking lot time in an effort to really effectively work the 'zone' and regain my comfort in low speed maneuvering. Based on conversations with many members that have done the upgrade (in any form, not just the skydoc kit) it seems that no two members have experienced (or described) the 'same' change in the friction zone. My guess is that the actual differences bike to bike are closer than it may seem it is just the ability for each rider to effectively and accurately communicate the differences is lacking. I have gotten a lot better in dealing with it, but it seems like my 'old' friction zone was about 1/3 of the total travel of the lever (starting at about 1/3 extended and ending about 2/3 extended) where I would do most of my low speed maneuvering with the lever about 1/2 extended. Now it all takes place within a very small range of motion starting around 2/3 extension, if not further. -

LilBeaver replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
Absolutely right - for the record I certainly did not mean to imply any different as my upgrade kit eliminated the slipping and grabs just fine. It does what it should do and works like it should work. It is simply my preference to have it function differently than it does in its current state. Boy is it difficult to not comment on this statement... Completely agree. My hands might be a tad bigger than yours as I do feel that I have full control over the clutch without fear of it slipping out of my finger-tips throughout the entire range of motion of the clutch lever; however, it is still my preference to have it start to engage closer to the 1/2 way point of the lever motion and be fully engaged before the lever is fully extended. -
Okay, good to know. I guess I just skimmed over both of them and got the same information out of it; but I have a tendency to ignore attitude when I read posts so I suppose that is what happened. Glad it has been resolved.

Customized so that each member can have the choice setup down to the second. :witch_brew: Seriously, if the default is more than 1 week, I would say just let it go at whatever the default is. No sense in causing yourself MORE work, eh?

Well - once the $$$ is verified in your account, then disable the paypal account, remove all links to the bank account and THEN maybe paypal cannot get the money back... Too many folks I have talked to have had people request money refunded via paypal and paypal takes the liberty of removing the money from the bank account without any concent of the owner of the account. If memory serves me correctly the agreement that a user must accept in order to use their service states that have agreed to such behavior if you have your bank account setup with them. (Now that I write this I know I should probably go back to the agreement and find where I read that then post it here so everyone can see that I'm not just pulling stuff out of thin air; but I don't really feel like doing that right now not to mention time is a bit short so I think I will stick to my memory.) Anyhoo, I completely agree that this guy is trying to scam you. If you do feel like following through, may I suggest that CASH IS KING. Take cash only from whomever is picking it up, check an ID (record DL#, full name and address) and sign the title over to the person that showed you the ID. take a few minutes to verify that the cash is legit. Bada-bing. Although quite frankly, I think I would just tell this guy to take a hike. +1 to the :crackup::crackup::crackup::crackup::crackup::crackup:x10000 for the used car dealer NOT having a checking account. Oh boy.

Exactly the same here except that contrary to you I still cannot stand how it releases now... Not to mention I want my friction zone back. I have been allowing myself some time to get used to it (replaced ~Sept/2010) but I am still actively searching for a resolution and it sounds like this may be it. Well, short of replacing the unit with a barnet setup or whatever.
