  1. Yeah we got 1-3 inches here too. Garbage. Although the high today is in the 60s so it is all almost gone
  2. Howdy: So, to try to get this back on track I would like to ask for some clarification of your initial question as if you were a little more clear on what the problem is we may be able to provide a better solution. A few questions: 1) Could we get some basic information about your bike such as year, model and mileage 2) Please describe what you mean by the phrase "Can't get the clutch to bleed or work" -- This could be interpreted various ways as there is some inherent ambiguity in describing something as simply 'not working' or 'went out'. 3) This is not really a question to clarify your issue but I am curious what, if anything, you have searched for on this site as there is a ton of information here. There are quite a few threads about bleeding the clutch (both 1st and 2nd gens), the weak clutch spring problem, replacing lines, etc. 4) In addition to your furthered explanation to #2, please include information as to what you have tried and the results Providing more detail with your initial question will help anyone else navigating to your thread help YOU as we will be able to better understand what your particular issue is, your questions and further aid in the diagnosis and developing potential solutions to your issue(s).
  3. Just wanted to say that there has been a lot of good and valuable information in this thread. Thanks for keeping the posts informative, citing your sources and providing some good discussion. I know I have not contributed much or provided much in the way of my opinions, but I have been following along and skimming many of the stories/information on this as it IS a big deal [to me at least].
  4. Meanwhile my current one continues to get sandblasted by this West Texas dust/sandstorms...
  5. Definitely glad he is okay! +1 to it being comprehensive since there was not another vehicle involved (but I am not an insurance agent) I had a similar experience two years ago with it almost taking out myself and a friend of mine. Not fun at all... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=425270&postcount=1
  6. TV? What is that?
  7. Geeze...
  8. I do the same with mine. Although it does started and ridden just about every day In fact, I managed about 200 miles yesterday with friend of mine... I hope that was long enough to take care of any condensation related issues.
  9. Well I am glad that you caught it in time!
  10. :thumbsup2:
  11. Howdy: This is a terrific opportunity and offer for us and F4 Customs windshields. I may not ride as much as some in terms of annual mileage but I do ride every day, rain or shine. My typical yearly mileage on my 01 RSV is somewhere around 25-30k. I try to get out for a decent length ride every weekend that I am home (decent length ride to me is somewhere between 400 and 800 miles). Obviously I do not manage these EVERY weekend (I do travel a lot for work), otherwise my annual mileage would be much higher. I also typically get at least one cross-country ride in every year (5k+ miles). My longer rides tend to be with a passenger. We are both experimental Physicists so an objective evaluation is something that we do on a regular basis. I have tried two different Yamaha OEM (standard and wide) shields as well as a tinted, vented clearview shield. I have been eying the F4 shields for quite some time now but have been waiting to read some objective reviews on them before pulling the trigger on my own. I tremendously enjoy motorcycling and really do enjoy my RSV. I would most definitely be willing to give an honest evaluation, share my experiences and advertise for the windshield wherever I go. In summary, I would be very willing to give regular reports on my experience with the F4 shield and plan on several trips this year that will expose me to a number of various riding conditions and optimal for such an evaluation with the shield. Also, the added input from a passenger would be possible since my current gal loves to ride as well and my long-day rides have been regularly including her. Regardless of whomever is chosen to demo this shield, I will most definitely stay tuned for the review as I have been in the market for a new shield for quite some time now and want to try something different. Thank you for this opportunity and I sure hope that whoever gets it follows through. Cheers, Rick

Okay fine, if you are going to get all picky about it. Although my misspelling and your grammar should cancel each other out, eh? Done. Done THANK YOU! http://www.ridelikeapro.com/ Maybe I am completely blind, but I actually do not see your name on the list. Done. Sure you can, just need lots of practice and spare crash bars! Done. 18. I guess maybe my experience has been a little different than some of yours that have posted in this thread. My first brand new set of Avons on the RSV broke traction on me several times in the first 75 miles. Felt very 'greasy'. Almost completely lost it going up an on-ramp. So maybe I am just a little paranoid about it now. I am extra careful now for the first several rides. But, that is how I ride, ya'll can ride however you want.
  19. Riiiight. Everyone's got a different nick-name for 'em. Hope you have small feet. But... but... but... What did I do?!?:confused24:
  20. I would still be careful In the first several hard turns - the slab will only help for part of the tire. I certainly hoped you weren't thinking about taking a grinder to the rubber although my guess is that someone out there has done it...
  21. Boy that is something I would never admit to in writing... I'm pretty sure that would get me in trouble if she read that! But hey, I guess that is one way to go.
  22. My apologies. I can see how my statement could be mis-interpreted and I certainly did not mean to sound like a butt about it, or try to start an argument on the topic or whatever (and I could see where it may look that way). I guess what I meant was along the lines of some people feel that some laws do not apply to them and I have seen it on a number of occasions in states that it is illegal as well as one or tow that I know it IS legal in. Another forum that I will occasionally read (getting more and more rare based on how silly some of the people get with their 'internet muscles') lane splitting is one of those topics that get argued about and some seem to have this attitude that suggests that they can pick and choose which laws they want to obey. That being said, I have had some face to face discussions about the topic too and get the same opinion from some folks as well. To answer your question about the legality, I will have to do some looking when I get home, but the AMA puts out a nice chart that has a good spread of the common motorcycle applicable laws, state by state, and I am pretty sure lane splitting is included on that. Hopefully I can find it. Again, my apologies if you took that statement as if I were attacking you or your question - that certainly was not my intent at all.
  23. The legality is often irrelevant. For what it is worth in some cases I have heard justification for the lane splitting be to help deal with air-cooled bikes on hot days that are stuck in traffic. I will leave my personal opinion out of this one. I am going to be bad and not actually cite my source here other than this seems to be a reoccurring 'rationale' that I seem to notice when it comes up in the legislature or even just typical discussions.
  24. I don't know if it makes a difference or not but I like to give mine a good scrubbing/cleaning with a tire brush and car wash and then just make sure I take it real easy for the first couple hundred miles. This takes care of some of the surface stuff but also allows a reasonable amount of time to get the tires nice and warm to get anything of the latent chemicals or gases out of the tires before really riding hard. Again, I don't know if it really makes a difference or not but I have not put much, in the way of a conscious effort, into rigorously determining the best way to 'scuff' in the set of tires. My guess is that you are going to get a very wide range of responses to this... Stay tuned http://www.smileyvault.com/albums/userpics/10172/thumb_smiley-face-popcorn.gif
