    My experience with Avon Venom-X on 01 RSV

    I have included a few photos of the Avon tires that I had problems with. The front tire was replaced with no questions asked after an e-mail to Avon including the pictures. The splitting shown in the photos of the rear tire developed in 6 weeks. I know this for sure because when I had the front tire replaced, my dealer went ahead and inspected the rear one as well. (I also looked at it and at the time it looked brand new). That was 6 weeks prior to me taking the rear pictures. Unfortunately, it is difficult to see in the pictures the severity of the problems in each. Avon was very helpful and quick about taking care of replacing my tires. Hopefully I will have the good luck with my new set that everyone else seems to have with theirs.

  3. Thanks a lot! Chris has me taken care of though. I actually did contact clearview, (they are some nice folk, by the way). Unfortunately, the best they could do on a 2nd was 185 not including the ~20 it would cost to have it shipped to me. :-\ I am looking forward to being able to see where I am going though!

  5. +1 To this. I had e-mailed some pictures of my front one as it was bad (I am actually in the process of getting my rear one replaced now). I know a lot of people on here have had a lot of good luck with the Avons, but I am not seeing it... I'm going to go with this next 'free' tire and if this crap happens again, I'm back to Dunlop E3s... I had e-mailed Avon and they e-mailed me back within 5 working days or so basically saying print off the e-mail that had a name and phone number on it and to take to to whatever tire/dealer I wanted, show them the e-mail and have them call and it would all get taken care of. I guess it could have something to do with the tire rep and/or parts manager at my local dealership too, but I brought in that e-mail and it took them about 5 minutes (they photocopied the e-mail, called the number and spoke to the rep for only about [literally] 3 minutes hung up and said they've got a tire on the way. Next day I dropped off my scoot and picked it up at the end of the day with a new shoe. Minimal hassel. My rear tire is splitting now (around the rim). I went to my dealer first this time and they are waiting to hear back from Avon (it has been ~10 days now) -- I too fired an e-mail off to them earlier today... So whatever. It may be taking longer because my dealer said that he would try to get Avon to cover the cost of a tire of my choice so that they could put E3s on for me - so we'll see. (Crazy enough, I didn't even get the tires or the scoot from this dealership... They are a Honda dealership, but they just are so darn good at what they do they earned my business with my RSV too) Anyways this is probably more than $0.02 worth, but I didn't force you to read it :-P btw I emailed the general customer service info thingy: info@avonmotorcycleusa.com Good luck with yours!   6. First thing I would do is check fuses. One fuse box is under the left side cover (If you are sitting on your bike and let your left arm dangle - you would be able to touch it with your left hand) The second fuse box is in the cowling that is by the rear brake pedal. I do not recall at the moment which one has the headlamp fuse in it -- Depending on how your lamps are wired it may or may not be on that circuit. The next thing to do would be to trace the wiring for your lamps, looking for an inline fuse. Of course, check your bulbs too. You could try using the search tool on this forum and find a slew of information regarding the light bars etc. Also the owner's manual and service manual (for wiring diagrams) may be of some use depending on how involved the issue may be.   7. Welcome! And congrats on your new to you ride! I am sure you will enjoy it! As you have mentioned already this site has A LOT of very useful information. If you haven't already done so, you may want to go ahead and download the service manual -- those are handy to have. Just do a search for it and you should be able to find it pretty easily.
