  1. I am pretty sure I have seen some... I was waiting for someone else to chime in with the info (since I would like some too). Hmmm... Rick M.
  2. Sounds like a plan!
  3. Randy: You got it, PM sent. Bongobob: Yup, that was 100% intentional! :-P
  4. For a mixture of a birthday gift and Christmas gift (a little late - but I'm not complaining) my girlfriend decided to get me a set of these (Kuryakyn longhorn offset dually iso highway pegs --- Look up Longhorn offset 7980 and they come up). Well, I was the one that surprised her when I picked up a set for my self. SO, long story short, I do not need two sets and to save on the stupid 'restocking' fees and whatever they call them I was wondering if there was anyone in here that was looking for a set. These have the 1" clamp, which is correct for the RSV. I'll post these in the classifieds in a few days (I am still waiting for the ones that she ordered to arrive. They shipped out today and when she found out I got a pair for myself it was too late to cancel the order). They will be new, in box, never opened, I'll just put them in an appropriate shipping container and send it to you if you want them. - $132.00 and I'll cover shipping (to the US - If someone from Canada is interested let me know and I can figure out how much extra it will be to ship this north of the border -- or if someone wants them and is in Vancouver, I can deliver them when I am up there in a few weeks on business).
  5. HAHA Oops... Actually, that's not a half bad Idea... Maybe next summer
  6. BuMp Haha - Just saw this one --> :duck:Bet we've all done this once or twice - maybe not on the RSV with the shield in front of us.... but sometime.
  7. Don't feel bad, LEOs are not allowed to carry off duty in WI either. I have found a shoulder holster to be the most comfortable when riding (other than riding I cannot stand them). Or, when working and on the bike it rides on my duty belt with everything else.
  8. Thanks for the update. I know that some members have said that oil doesn't make a difference then we have others that say they change their oil and they notice a huge difference (ie the starter of this particular thread) so I was curious. Hope all is well up there in Vancouver
  9. Let us know how it goes - I know you mentioned that with your basket change you got more noise; I am curious if you will notice a difference with the new oil. What oil were you running before?
  10. The one by me does... They also carry the Mobil 1 V-twin motorcycle oil (which is the 20W-50)
  11. I do not know what he used, but I believe that the only "Motorcycle 4t Racing oil" made by Mobil 1 is fully synthetic 10w-40 (According to the Mobil 1 website) Do note that there is the Motorcycle Racing Oil AND a different categoryof Mobile 1 Racing Oils (not specifically for motorcycles). Oh, I looked at a jug of this stuff when I was at Wal-mart a few days ago, it says specifically on the back (assuming I remember this correctly) "for motorcycles, blah blah blah, specifically designed for use with a wet clutch..."
  12. I'm going to second this... I use my toes/end of my foot with my heel planted on my floor board and have yet to lock up the rear wheel in an emergency stop (I have only had a couple). ALSO, one thing that I have done is not long after I got the bike, I went out to the street I live on (it is a dead end road - a parking lot would have worked fine too) and spent some time practicing emergency stops. I locked up the rear tire a few times, just so I knew where the limit was (on dry pavement anyway) and what it would feel like with this bike. This does not guarantee that you will not lock up the rear wheel, but what it WILL do is give you a feel for the limits of applying the rear brake and you can train yourself how hard to push down when you have that 'oh shucks' moment. I have found that there is PLENTY of stopping power between the front brake and downshifting that even with light use of the rear brake one can stop very quickly. Good luck friends Keep 'em Rollin' - Rick M.
  13. Hey Buddy: It looks like it is saved in an excel file format (probably 2003, xp, or older). If all you have is microsoft works then you can download 'Open Office' for free and view the spreadsheets that way. With donald's permission, I could convert them into pdf files so that it is viewable through the pdf viewer which everyone most likely has
  14. Yup, same here. My heel stays on the floorboard. I am only 5'8"... but I guess I cannot say that I am normally proportioned as my size 14 boot probably helps me out a little bit - in fact the heel-toe shifter deal gets in the way :-\
  15. Strange that it is taking so long for them to get the report. You may want to take it upon yourself to call the law enforcement agency that responded and request the crash report (or whatever the insurance people actually need) for yourself, then you can take it to your agent directly... Just a thought, good luck to both of you!
  16. Glad you found one!
  17. The lubbock dealer said they can get one by saturday. The shock itself is ~$640 and Saturday delivery will be additional $75. The parts guy just needs to know by 5 so he can get it ordered if you want it.... It is Watt's Yamaha in Lubbock, TX. Their number is 806-281-9619 (Cameron - the parts guy's Direct #) or the general dealership number is 806-281-9610. If you would prefer - either message me or give me a call and I'll be happy to get it ordered for you (then I can either meet someone part way or maybe come down to deliever it depending on how my schedule ends up working out) My number is in the profile, I would prefer to not list it here. - Rick M.
  18. If you find one in the panhandle somewhere (Lubbock, Amarillo, odessa, etc.) I'll gladly assist in getting it to you. By the way, there is a yamaha warehouse somewhere in texas, My local dealer has been able to get me parts NEXT DAY, and saturday if you pay for the saturday shipping, so you may want to check again with the local dealers - and let them know you'd be willing to pay for that shipping. I'll run by my local Yamaha dealership to see what they can do too.
  19. When you plug in both headsets (with the audio system on) the intercom works just by talking. By pushing the select button a few times you will get to a point where you can change whether the audio comes through the speakers or the headsets (using the up or down arrow). I do not believe there is a way to have the CB come through the headset only while the radio is on the speakers... If there is, I sure would like to know. Oh, and somewhere on this site one can download both the owner's manual as well as the service manual. I looked a little bit and did not find it -- but I did not look very hard...
  20. Howdy folks: I am planning a ride from Lubbock, TX to Brighton, MI beginning on 24-July (possibly the 25th depending on weather). I will depart Lubbock around 4am ride East to Wichita Falls, then hop on I-44 north to I-35, continue up through Wichita, KS and probably stop in Emporia, KS (about 1/2 between Wichita and Kansas City) for the evening. 25-July: Next day I will continue up I-35 up through Des Moines where I will pick up I-80 and continue East until arriving in Davinport, IA, where I will be staying the night. (A good friend of mine lives there, and they are not too far out of the way). 26-July: Leaving Davinport, I will then be able to take my time to putter across Northern Illinois to end up in Spring Grove, IL or Gurnee. I will be there for 1-2 days visiting my newest nephew (who is about 3 weeks old) and Also give my neice her first motorcycle ride! 28 or 29 -July: Depart Spring Grove/Gurnee and head for Brighton, MI via I-94 (probably take the Tri-state (294) around chicago - but we'll see when I get there). I'll stay on I-94 Until Battle Creek, where I'll shoot up I-69 to Lansing (With a stop in Mason to drop off my passenger) Then on to Brighton. I will be in Brighton, Walled Lake, Clarkston, Mason, Jonesville and various other places for that week. I will start my ride back to Texas sometime between the 4th and the 8th. I'm hoping to be able to stop in Marble Falls, AR for a day or 2 of the rally, but I am not sure what my schedule is going to be like while I'm up in Michigan (I will be with some family that is only doing so-so and they are the main purpose of my trip. So depending on what happens, I may or may not swing through AR). As for the details of my return trip, I have not decided. It will largly depend on how much time I will have to come back. I may go south through Nashville (visit some more family) then putter on over to Marble Falls, or I may need to just take the most direct route possible home... We'll see -- I'll be taking it a day at a time. ANYWAYS, I wouldn't argue with some company through various parts if you wanted to meet up or whatever just let me know. Hope to see you all in August at the Hub! Gdspeed - Rick M.
  21. Sorry to hear that you couldn't find it -- I think on my 01 behind the cowling there is the audio system fuse that is attached to the outside of the other fuse box. I believe that it is located in there, but I might be mistaken... If I was home, I would go take a look -- but I'm a few days away from getting there. At any rate, it sounds like you've already checked there -- It should be a 30A fuse and on the underside of the cap to the fuse box there is a diagram showing what fuse should be where... Sorry, this probably isn't much help... Good luck :-\
  22. Just a little clarification here - when you say nothing happend do you mean it did not crank or no dash lights/instruments/speedometer, headlamp, turn signals, horn etc? I think someone said it already, fuses would be the first thing I would check. If all of the fuses are good, then the next thing I would do is verify the voltage on the battery with a meter (or connect a different 12V battery to the bike via jumper cables, to see if you get everything to light up) then lastly, pop the tank off and check the ignition switch. Good luck! Rick M.
  23. Yup - My local Yamaha dealer is like that, so the Honda dealer gets all of my parts and service business on my RSV... The two dealerships are polar opposites, it is crazy....
  24. This is also a terrific way to pick up any type of metal that may be in the road and implant it in your rear tire! [Hope you use ride-on] Right turn, U-turn, and repeat if necessary works for me just fine.
  25. Question for you - Have you ever waxed or applied any type of treatment to the trailer? +1 to DaveCB's comment provided that the trailer was painted base/clear. If you are to go out and buy a buffer a reasonable type to pick up (if you have not done much of this type of work) would be a random orbiting buffer. This helps prevent burning through the clear by leaving the buffer in one place too long. If it is just baked enamel with no type of clear on it then you've got yourself a different problem. Some rubbing compound and a nice coat of polish MIGHT work, but it is much more difficult if you do not have a clear coat to work with. Typically what one does with the rubbing compound and a buffer is essentially move around some of the existing clear coat, and in effect, cleaning it up the appearance by smoothing it out; then the applied polish adds more protection over the coat that was 'scratched up' by the rubbing compound providing more protection from scratching and fading by being an additional barrier to help protect the existing finish.
