Rough running Bike
Eddie Fulmer replied to TheKid's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just a thought. You might try looseing the drain screws on the carbs. I did that and some water came out of one of them. You most likely have a lean condition there. That will also tell you if you have gas in all carbs. After the water was removed the bike ran great. Just a start. Remember gas is made to explode. be safe. -
funniest vido I've ever seen!!!!!!

Starting Relay....Redux

I had trouble with corrosion on the battery terminals on my golf cart for a long time. I was replacing 1 about every 2 weeks. A friend told me to paint them with never seize. It's stuff that is usually used on bolts and such so that they won't rust up on the inside and you can get them apart easily later. I bought a small can and used an acid brush to coat the connections with. It worked like crazy. I don't know what caused that corrosion but that will stop it dead! It's possible that some of the sulfuric acid/vapor that came from a previous owner/battery seeped up into the cable and that's what caused the "new" corrosion. You just can't clean up inside the cable. Good luck. -
Thanks for those nice links Keith.

Back in my "younger" years I had a Yamaha 80cc bike. The clutch started slipping so I took the clutch cover off and pulled the springs. Then I found me some washers that just fit underneath them so as to "tighten" them up. Worked great!! I was back in business. I think I was around 14 at the time and I didn't have any money for new plates and springs.

I am doing some upgrades to my golfcart and am trying to figure out the best "coating" for the plastic body. I'm leaning toward the spray on coatings like Rhino or line-x. Has anyone here ever done this or have any knowledge about it. I really wanted to do it myself but am just not sure about it. Thanks,

Happy T'Day. If we sit and count our blessings we can surely be thankful. Greetings from the Pilgrims's and one Indian.

I usually use a 18 inch wrench and whack it 4 times with a 3 pound rubber hammer. OF course if I'm really tired I might whack it 5-6 times. On second thought just follow the good advice in the preceding posts.

Me and 3 of my buddies rode in a Veterans parade today at 1pm. I had a 3x5 flag and so did one of my friends. It started at the VFW club went around the VA hospital and back. They put us in front cause we had the biggest bestest flags!!! I hope we did them proud. I wish I had some pics. Cops did a great job on this one and stopped traffic on both sides of the road.

You're the best! Thanks for all you do. Please know that you are prayed over daily.

FWIW When the urge hits use the time it takes to smoke a weed and spend it in prayer. You will pray a lot but you'll be much better for it. I was surprised how much it helped. Soon you'll be able to smell better to. You might even get some new clothes!!

Bill, How long was it before they put you back to work? Everything I read tells me that you won't be 100% for 5-6 months. My Doc is telling me that my time will be around 3 months. I'm worried about it cause I'm a fireman and I may need all I can give at any minute. What say you that have been there before me?

On 9-11 I was exercising at work and tore my bicep in my right arm. The muscle pulled loose from the bone in my forearm. I am about to go nuts not being able to ride. I get some comfort just listening to her run though. I'll be out of commission until somewhere in Dec. This really sucks!! It's getting worse everyday. Just needed to vent. I'm doing great really. It does make you appreciate having good health and all your limbs working.

Don't miss it... the aircraft museum. Carry your camera too. They have one of the last remaining Zeros there. They aren't nearly as large as you'd think. I didn't get to stay long enough cause my family was with me and we had kids.

While visiting Yellowstone last year several crows paid us a visit. The pulled a zipper back on my buddies bike and "stole" some of his snacks. I have a pic but can't post it somehow. Looks funny, 2 crows sitting on our bikes.

I had an 850 triple for about a year. I sold it about a year ago. I restored it to runnig condition and me and my daughter rode it a lot. It was a little tall for her but we did make several long rides with her and me on the RSV. I sold it and bought her a c50 suzuki. I think the 850 would outrun the c50. I rebuilt the carbs. That was the major thing. There is a yamaha site for these much like this site. If you have any questions give me a call. I'l be glad to give you some pointers.

Word of advice from a 30 year ham radio operator. Don't do it!! Anything they do will have minimal effect. -
While at work today we were doing our regular excercise and I tore the bicep in my right arm. What a bummer. Had a ride planned for next week in Myrtle Beach. 3-4 month+ recovery time. What did I do?

A 1st hand computer store should have them to. I got one that way. Works great and a lot cheaper.

Brake Discs Issues

I agree with Eck.. -
I have an Avon on the rear that is about ready to be changed.(around 14,000miles) I had about 50-75 miles on it when I found a screw right in the middle of the tread. I took the tire off and patched it from the inside. First a small patch and then another larger one over the top of that. I've not had one problem with it. I'm not real fond of a plug but a patch on the inside, IMHO, will work just great for you.

New Avons, have questions.
Eddie Fulmer replied to Busta's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well.....Just got my Avons in this week and am getting ready to mount them. checked the date code and it's 3307. This means it was made, in England, in 2007? My tire is 2 years old and hasn't even been mounted yet. Me thinks I will put it on. However I have a Suzuki C50 and I am replacing both the tires on it because they are "aged." I didn't check the date on the tire I have on the rear of the RSV now but I will look at it when I take it off. I was thinking I got both tires from the same place. ???????????? -
Updated my Zumo 550. After I downloaded the update to my computer I put it on the gps. I had to pick what areas I wanted. I picked the 48 states but that leaves quite a bit off. Is there any way I can increase my memory to carry all North America? The update had a pop up that said that with all the new stuff that was included there wasn't enough room for all the maps I used to have. ????

You didn't say anything about where the leak is. sidewall, bead, tread. It matters what you use depending on where it is. It also matters what caused the leak in the first place. Was it a nail, screw, or a piece of metal that left a "jagged" entry hole in the tire. More input, more input!!
