  1. Great looking bike! Great looking background! The wire spokes make a big difference with those whitewalls.
  2. If you wanted the wide white sidewalls, what tires would you get? I'm really liking this retro thingy look and sound-goes back to the fifties (yes, I was there).
  3. Pics attached (from previous post):
  4. Weren't yours the 36"? The 4" might make a difference, but that's why I'm asking. The guy that made the nite time YouTube video has had his on for more than a year without brackets, but looking for a consensus.
  5. Installed fishtail mufflers couple of days ago and just got the clamps. These mufflers are a lot lighter than stock and just wondered if I needed to make brackets or just go as is? They feel rigid with no play and the clamps really tightened down well. As a side note, I've never complained about the "whine", but after installing them the whine is very noticeable. Hard to believe that the mufflers would effect the whine, but I haven't put the saddlebags back on and that may make the difference. Anyone notice the whine getting worse when changing mufflers? I am definitely keeping my stock mufflers just in case, but I'm no longer hesitant to pull along side a Harley at a light. Of course they can hear them well from the rear when we're rolling.
  6. But I'll bet you better have proof of rating as well as your receipt. Come push to shove the burden will be on us-not Yamaha.
  7. First I got to get some clamps, then I'll take pics. All the bike shops are closed on Monday. Looks like the fishtails will just start to turn up at the back of the saddlebag. Yes, they came from JCW. They look pretty good, time will tell. Not USA, but not China-made in Taiwan. Supposed to be fiberglass with a small baffle. With that extra 4" that "throaty" sound should be well behind you!
  8. Just installed new fishtails. My old ones came right off and the new ones slipped right on. Almost too easy thanks to Rick's knob bolts on the saddlebags. The hardest part was getting the stickers off that warned "might not meet EPA standards" . I need chrome muffler and muffler support clamps. Where is the best source for these items? Thanks for any help! PS: They fit so well that I went around the block without clamps-sounds like an old muscle V8 from the sixties.
  9. Yes, the hood is standard on the US RSTD. I would think it would fit if our headlights are the same. Mine is a 7 inch sealed beam. Check your size-metric might be different.
  10. I like your brackets! What did you use for the spacer on the hanger? Are your mufflers 3"? As I said looks like the bracket is the main item. Were you able to use your existing muffler clamps and how did you hide the bolt? Thanks again! PS are the exhausts 1&3/4" (where the muffler slips on or did you need a reducer)?
  11. What brand are they? How do they sound? I've looked at JC Whitney and theirs measure 32" which looks like the minimum to clear the saddlebags with a 5&1/4 fishtail tip. Theirs are cheap enough to throw away if they don't work or I don't like them. I think I've heard a YouTube video and they could be too loud. The clamp looks like most of the work installing them. They sell a chrome clamp that goes around the middle, but don't know if it would mate up with the bike hanger. Yours look good and most be at least 36" long.
  12. In both the tight squeezes I remembered that I accelerated to get out of the squeeze. Guess if (or when) I wipe out it'll be from accelerating instead of braking. At least there's no danger of my brakes locking up!
  13. ICE CREAM? don't you still have snow way up there? The 2nd item looks good especially after the sun shines. We're starting to sweat down here in lower Alabama. That's why they call it the "SUNNY SOUTH"!
  14. Just ordered the "VisiPath sS75H4". Is this the one you just installed? The reviews indicated it would work; although, some of the forum comments said it didn't work on a 1st Gen bike. Did you do the brake light also?
  15. Almost got swacked twice yesterday. One from a lady that swerved into my lane and the other from a guy that just pulled out in front of me. How many lights do we need? I run with my high beams on in the daytime, but I'm thinking "flashing lights" or something especially in high traffic areas. Can you fix the front turn signals to flash on a RSTD? What is the best light setup? Thanks for any suggestions!
  16. Just did my 1st carb sync with my Morgan Carbtune. WoW! When I first hooked up and did initial readings, 1&2 were slightly off, 3&4 were slightly off, and both were slightly off from each other. I first thought that this was a waste of time as all were fairly close to each other, but "what the Hey" I'd bought the Carbtune and might as well try. I tweaked and tweaked and tweaked, and then I balanced 1&2 to 3&4. Even the idle smoothed out. When I ran the bike the difference was obvious-even the rumble/backfire was considerably reduced (looks like next job is the AIS). The job went smoothly thanks to the great instructions from Freebird and Kbran. Isn't this forum great!!!
  17. Me and Lady Shipper on top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia national Park.
  18. I had mine embroidered "Left Side" and "Right Side" so I don't have to look inside before replacing them in my saddlebags. Great to take them out when staying overnight in a strange place. I still put stuff on top so they don't seem to take up too much room and all comes out between the straps when removing.
  19. Do you have the restricters in your carbtune hoses? I couldn't find any pics in the tech library. Glad I don't have to worry about the adapters.
  20. I assume that you put the "restricters" in the rubber tubes per the instructions in the manual, but which adapters (if any) do you use for the 2nd gen RSTD? All of the directions given on the forum for using the carbtune are great, but none mention setting up the carbtune. Thanks for any help!
  21. Anyone try their slip-on mufflers? Don't have a clue who makes their stuff, but the price is good (maybe too good?). They have a slip-on, extra long seamless fishtail muffler made for HD that they say fits the RSTD. Heard a YouTube video where a Brazilian guy put them on and they sounded pretty good (couldn't understand him though . Anyone try them? Will they fit? Just came back from Thunder Beach and didn't have to worry about anyone hearing my exhaust. Thanks!
  22. DITTO!
  23. Still trying to find out if some rumble on deceleration is normal. Service manager just said mine sounds normal-seems like he's said that about every question I've ever asked. I did get a little more attention when I asked for the regional rep's name-he said they don't really have one anymore. It really is beginning to feel that smoke is blowing up my a*s. Is some rumble normal? Thanks again!
  24. I just ordered the Morgan carbtune (seems the exchange rate is favorable). I'm definitely not a mechanic, but I do follow instructions pretty well. I seriously looked at the Rome meet before your offer, but its about 4 hours from Dothan. Still might consider the trip with your generous offer of help. It would be great to actually see the sync before trying it on my own. We are going down to Apalachicola on the 15th for 6 days so don't know yet if I can squeeze it in. I know the meal is at Fuddrucker's (sure hope I spelled that right )-would it be better to be early for the sync or would it be after the meal meet? Thanks again for the invite!
  25. Yes, I know about the carb choke. First time I didn't push it all the way in after a run, I almost couldn't get the bike to start after stopping several times. Thought I had some serious trouble until I did finally realize that it wasn't in all the way. So the rumble isn't normal when decelerating? Anyone live in the SE Alabama area that could carb sync my bike? The service manager said it was a no-brainer for one of his "techs", but I think it was the same time that they overfilled my oil after servicing it. Thanks for any help!
