  1. Now you can join the Steve Saunders Goldwing Forum. I too ride a Goldwing as well.
  2. I know the class system flashes an E4 I think and I do not know if the radio works or not
  3. I would trade the whole package for a Goldwing 1200. Any takers?
  4. I have an 84 that I was going to fix and ride but after playing with it and taking inventory of the problems that need fixing, mainly the motor smokes like crazy but still runs fairly well I think I am going to part it out. Take a look at my ad if there is anything anyone wants. I was thinking about dropping a 1300 in the frame but dont seem to be alot around here and way to much money on ebay for something I know nothing about.Maybe later I will buy a 1300 that I can actually ride with fewer problems. Also have new set of Diaphrams I just got from Sirius and a heavy duty fork brace.
  5. Hey MiCarl, I lived in Westland I think thats the name of the town for about 6mos.about 15 years ago. I used to work in Livonia for a company call Amsyn. Was your bike wrecked? Fortunatley I have a great Goldwing that I ride now.
  6. Well the update on this post is that I found an 84 Venture Royale a couple of weeks ago for $300.00. It runs but needs almost everything rebuilt. It does have a new rear tire . I guess a that price I can spend some $$$ on it.
  7. I also frequent Steve Saunders Goldwing Forum and see very similar problems with both style of bikes. What I read on this Forum as far as problems I to read on the Goldwing Forum. None of them are perfect. I cant wait to get my Venture fixed so I can enjoy the best of both Honda and Yamaha Worlds. The Venture I picked up for $300.00 and everything needs repair before I will ride it. Oh it does have a new rear tire though. I do all my own wrenching so these problems don't scare me away however many there may be.
  8. The stator problem with the earlier Goldwings is dealt with by mounting an external alternator on the bike so you dont have to pull that motor. I ride an 84 GL 1200 and like it alot. I bought an 84 Venture and have been unable to ride it as it needs pretty much everthing fixed. I do like how it sits but the Wing is comfy too. Bikes that old all have problems if they havent been meticulously maintained and most people I think just don't want to restore these great old bikes back to reliable riding condition, they just want to jump on and go. I think they are both great bikes and I would say if you are not willing to work on or have someone else do the work for you then these classics aren't for you
  9. Autozone is where I got my puller when I replaced wheel bearings on my Goldwing. It is free, all you do is leave deposit on credit card and when returned they credit it back to you
  10. But if I send mine to you Timgray then I would need one. Ha Ha Ha!
  11. This is what is on my bike now. Can anyone tell if it is stock or not
  12. I would be interested. At that price how could you not want one.
  13. I ordered mine and they are on their way. $69.00 + $5.00 shipping. I emailed and called and got the discount
  14. I bought my 1984 Royale from a guy for $300.00. Needs a little work but I have a Goldwing that I ride so no hurry getting it on the road. Going to go through everything.
  15. Yeah I know, but I had one in my pocket at the time. Cleaned it off with some acetone and stuck it on.
  16. Finally got around to seeing if this $300.00 84 Royale has a clutch or not. Both sightglass on clutch and brake were broke through and had no fluid in them. Rather than forking over $50.00 or more for new used masters I took cold weld epoxy, backed the inside of hole with some tape and filled it up and ran a little on outside edge and clamped a nickel over the epoxy hole. Gravity bled the clutch,I have a lever and the clutch seems to work,on the center stand. No leaks.
  17. I am still leaning towards the idea of backing the hole with a pc of plastic then filling hole with epoxy and epoxy a dime or nickel over it. I dont need a sight glass. I dont have a problem taking out 2 screws to check if need be.I have to spend my money on new Diaphrams and things that are more important
  18. Why wont my link work? Your link was good
  19. Seems as though my url is not working
  20. Found this website and they claim to have a fix for sightglass http://www.newrivercyclesalvage.com/%20glass.html
  21. There is a post on the Ventures forum that I just seen that has a fix for the sightglass. Let me go back over and see if I can get some more info.I was going to epoxy a nickel over mine. Did it one other time.
  22. Possibly replacing whole master cyl. Someone said they thought that you might be able to buy the sightglass. Do not know this for sure yet
  23. I have a Venture Royale that I picked up for $300.00 and is in pretty decent shape. I also ride a 1200 Aspencade Goldwing that I have done alot of work on. Put a new battery in,new fuel filter and lines, plugs, chacked air filter and it fired up on the first spin. Put seafoam in and ran on center stand for awhile. Great throttle response and good idle only when it idles there is an occasional pop coming from the rear cylinders in the exhaust area.Any thoughts on what it could be? Maybe leaking from exhaust flange? I cant ride it yet as I need to fix the sightglass on clutch master, repair rear brakes and master and fix the fan. Fan works if unplug and ground out so may be temp sending unit. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
  24. Thanks Russ, I am going to look at one for $1500.00. Maybe I will buy it and ride both.
  25. Hi All, New member here. I currently ride a 84 GL 1200 and have done alot of work on it to bring it up to a reliable machine so I know all of the weak points to the Goldwing of those years. Can anyone tell me what the weak areas of the 86 or 87Venture 1300 model? The Goldwing is a great ride, how does the Venture measure up ?
