I use Febreze spray. All my helmets have removable liners and vented so I have consent air flow through my helmets. Look for Febreze with disenfectent, here in Arkansas normal summer days average around 90 degs. so I spray a little before and after each ride. Cb

Congrats. on getting better. I am 100 % disabled due to back problems and 5 weeks ago I ruptured a disc doing yard work. After resting for 3 weeks another forum I belong to recommended getting a Kidey belt. ($50.00). I have only been able to ride 3 times but the belt really helps because whenever I shift my sitting posistion the belt moves with me. My best to you on your recovery. Cb

INSURANCE for GPS, XM radio and GoPro Camera not included

The progressive main office quoted from the policey the same that LilBeaver quoted. As they are NOT permanently installed they are not covered by my insurance for my bike. Plain and simple.... NOT COVERED. I will check today with my agent about Homeowners coverage. My Zumo has a quick release bracket but the gps itself is not permanent, same with the xm and camera. Cb it's hard to lock them in the trunk if you have a accident !!!!! -
I have had my Typhoon for 15 years. I have stop-light raced many cars and saw their faces when a Chevy S-10 Blazer blew them away. Those that know what a Typhoon is don't even wamt to try and race. I have 120,000 miles on mine and got my first oil leak this winter. It has been a very good ride for all those years and miles. Cb

Driver Backrest
cb1313 replied to mmkleine's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I slipped a disc in my back 3 weeks ago and have just started to ride in the last few days. I belong to the Kaw. Versys forum and the guys there sugested a kidey belt ( $50.). I have riden my Venture and Versys with the belt on and get great back support. As I am wearing it the belt says with me even when I move around the seat. It may help or not ... but for $50. it might be worth a try. I would think that where ever you purchase it from you could get your money back if you do not like it. Cb- 10 replies

Anybody here riding in Mountain Home, Arkansas ? Cb

I do only back road riding and sometimes the Venture is just a little too big to throw around the curves. SO I purchased a left over " new " Kaw. Versys last month (2008 5 miles) for $5,700 + taxes and have added about $1,500. of stuff so far. Cb light and nimble but not as comfortable

I worked for Boeing installing hyd. systems. I was already a disabled Vet. but I had 11 years of aircraft knowledge and was hired. I blew out 4 discs in my back twice and then ripped the ligements in my left knee. After 2 bad knee operations and no back operations boeing just give me a note saying go home without pay. I sued and after 2 years I was awared 100 % disabilty from the state of Washington and NOHING from Boeing. I am one of the lucky ones....... I won my case. Cb

I have been down (crashed) 3 times in 40 years. No knowing where my head was at these times I always replaced my helmet .... BUT... I do not replace a helmet from dropping it or I would have had 50 helmets by now. I usally go for the $130.00 price and shop for the lowest price for the helmet I like. I have an 8 years HJC Symax ? flipup full face that I am starting to wear because I just purchased a Kaw. Versys with a very little windscreen. I am not sure if I will get a new fullface. Cb having said that I am now going to start looking a full face helmets to check the cost ????

Hi , I mention the Bazzuka system and I am very glad someone tried the system and kind of glad they did not like it.... too much money... but I ove my music on the road. The last time I split my fairing I installed a set of Memphis coaxial speakers but I only have them in the front. They sound okay but I do not ever travel on expressways were there is a lot of roads noise, only on back country roads. I have set the fader 2 settings to the rear and things sound okay. NOW.... has any tried to put a component speaker system on our bike ? Crossover, tweeter and midrange ? We are never going to get any bass out of 4 inch speakers and I am not willing to give up lugage space. Who has been using ONLY water/marine/weather proof speakers ? Has anyone spent the money on "Goldwing" speakers ? For about 30 years I have done most of my car audio systems and when I think about all the wire cutting to change the amp on my Venture... I just stop thinking about it... BUT... looking at the Bazzuka kit they say they have a "wire kit" for $20.00. So... then I start to think I would just purchase the kit and try to come up with a different amp and speakers. BUT then my brain starts to hurt and I stop thinking about it..... Cb

Bazzuka Audio sales a amp/speaker up-grade for Ventures on their audio site. Never seen one yet....but I think about getting one all the time.....! Cb

I lived outside Seattle for 20 years ( 1983-2004) in the foot hills of Mount Rainier national park ( Buckley, Wa). Highway I-90 is the main road going east-west and can be closed due to snow in late spring/summer at anytime. A little south of Tacoma is hwy 410 which they just close during the winter and do not ever bother to plow during the winter. Check the Wa. state hwy . site. If you come from the south ( Oregon) interstate I-5 is the main (only ) expressway all the way from Mexico to Canada. Almost all traffic north and south is on that road and I would travel it untill I get close to Portland and the Seattle/tacoma area. I would then go west and take hwy 101 along the ocean. Portland is a wonderful city and not bad to drive or visit, but the coast is wonderful. Interstate I-5 close into Tacoma through the town of Everett is one big long expressway ( about 70 miles long ) . I drove that route when I work for Boeing on I-5 for 3 years. Hwy 101 along the coast can be a mess too. it is the tourist route but a much better (slower) ride. There are a number of members here that live in the seattle area. Maybe they will give you a better route ? Check with the Washington State ferry site for info on where they go. good luck cb

I am NOT taking about when you got drunk and rode naked....Yes....me too ! I did have my shoes on !! Or about helmets. I just purchased a Kaw. Versys and joined their forum. These guys dress for war.... a lot of " made for motorcycle "(Kevlar) coats, pants and boots. I DO have some textile coats and Sidi ( spelling ?) boots from my BMW days and a couple leathers coats, chaps and leathers pants.... BUT..... I wear mostly jeans ( I just ordered 2 pairs of Diamaond jeans ), a tank top and steel toed boots. I carries a leather shirt on the bike for that day it's not full leather coat weather. One thing I always wear are some type of glove. What are you wearing ? Cb

Need new battery
cb1313 replied to Jethroish's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Hi it looks like people read you post but nobody answered. I do not know "what" battery but there are only a few companies that even make batteries. Most motorcycle batteries are made by Yuasa. The important thing is to get one the fits inside your bike. Most will cost about $80. todays batteries come dry with the acid in plactic tubes. This is normal for motorcycle batteries. You flip the open tubes into the battery until full. Expect a battery to last 3-5 years in todays world. Cb
