exhaust gas analyzer

I mostly agree with Carl on this one but if I owned a CO sniffer I to would have all 4 cylinders richness balanced for efficiency myself, it can make 1 or 2 MPG difference and, just like syncing the carbs, will make the engine run a little cooler. It is much more accurate than just turning the richness screws out 2 1/2 turns each. Like Carl said, those sniffer port plugs are probably really seized up at this point and just manually adjusting the screws will work quite well unless one of them is really buggered up. That being said, there is a device called a color tune plug which is a specialized spark plug with a window in it that allows you to adjust the actual color of each explosion to near that perfect 5.1 sniffer reading for maximum efficiency. They cost about $75 which is one heck of a lot cheaper than what a CO sniffer costs!! I notice you are from Syracuse, like in NY? If so, try to make it to the Western New York Northeast Regional Rally this August! We are only a couple or three hours from you! -

OK, I spent a little time today resizing a couple of the pictures today so here's a rundown of just part of the cruise. This won't quite be in chronological order but I'll try to do the best I can... Our second port, after Cozumel (which Becky and I both do not like at all,) was the island of Roatan off the coast of Honduras. There we saw a biker gang out terrorizing the local neighborhood... This I think was their biker bar hangout... We found some naked chicks in a club next door... The next day found us in Guatemala where we took a bus tour, and they wouldn't let us off the bus in the city. It is a very impoverished nation as these housing pictures show... Once again we found yet another biker gang... And a motorcycle mama! Here's Becky checking her purchase from a one-armed pirate... I found out how he lost his arm, he obviously P.O.'ed his girlfriend... The next stop was Costa De Mayo, Mexico where we visited some Aztec ruins. I'll continue the story in a couple of days as soon as I select and resize some more pictures!

Well, we finally got home last night around 8 PM. The place is still standing and everything is intact. So now we have to go back to cooking for ourselves, make our bed, etc! Becky is going to be busy with laundry for the next few days!!! I'll post a few pictures in a couple of days, I took around 4 or 5 thousand...

Clutch Fluid replacement
bongobobny replied to djadam's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Go with speed bleeders, they are pretty cheap, and make the job a lot easier! A speed bleeder has a one-way valve built into it, so you do not have to keep opening and closing the bleeder to properly bleed the system... -
Welcome aboard!! Yup, Ventures are one of the most comfortable bikes out there, reliable and plenty of power (or at least the 1st gens do). There are plenty of events for you to attend starting with Freebird's Maintenance Day in the suburban Cleveland area in June...

Attention....new date for vogel..............
bongobobny replied to DragonRider's topic in Watering Hole
I meant come up on the original date, that's when the Elvis impersonator is playing on the stage where we hold the Rally. That is why we are rescheduling, seems the owner of Pioneer Motorsports booked the guy last fall and forgot to put it on the calendar... -
SPYDER Man SPYDER Man, won't be seen on 2 wheels again!
bongobobny replied to flyday58's topic in Watering Hole
Ya know, I have to admit, the newer Spyders are a lot better than the first ones!! I was not comfortable on the first ones, but the new ones are better... -
I agree with you Steamer!! Whatever we agree on is OK with me, as long as we do not have to make a U turn to avoid the toll way again...

Sorry my good friend!! Due to a miscommunication by the owner, it will be a week later. You could come up that week and catch an Elvis imitator perform on the stage... -
Woo Hoooooo!!!!

I have two of those square relays mounted on that plastic pan in the rear area next to the frame with room to spare. Yup, I have additional lights on my trunk. and a 5 wire to 4 wire system converter, I drilled a hole just big enough to force the wires through and sealed it up with RTV. I used a 5 wire flat trailer connector with the connectors external to the trunk so that I can unplug and remove the trunk...

Steering Head bearing races
bongobobny replied to BratmanXj's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
OK normally they hammer out with a drift pin affair, but in extreme cases you can use a dremel tool with a metal cutting disc, and cut two slots in the race close together to remove a small arc out of the race and the rest will come out real easy! Do not be concerned if you accidentally cut into the frame piece a little, it will have no consequence to the new race... -
83 Venture 1200 Electronics
bongobobny replied to s.tyler58's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
With the fuses out, start looking for zero ohms to ground everywhere, and start unplugging things until the zero ohms goes away. Sorry, there is no stock common problem for what you are describing... -
Yah!! That Prairehammer is a biker's biker fer sure!!

Yup, front tires on a trike wear out very quickly unless you ALWAYS travel in a straight line! Because a trike does not lean, every time you turn the front tire skids sideways long with turning the bike's direction, so they cup very easily! Also, oscillation is a common inherent issue with any trike! Ideally, if you could find a car tire to fit on the front it would cure a lot of the handling issues as what you need is a flat profile tire rather than a round profile when looking at it from the front. Unfortunately, finding the right size is impossible! You cold check into sidecar tires but once again finding the right size is very difficult without changing to a different rim size. Now, what we usually do is find a REAR tire in the appropriate size and mount them backwards (because of the thrust characteristics on the cords of a front tire vs a rear) so that the tire will wear a longer time, but even then the cupping becomes an issue. On my trike, a front tire lasted about one season before it was worn out, and with a rear tire I got 2 seasons out of it, and it still had plenty of tread but it had to be replaced because of cupping. Right now I am considering finding an 18" Stratoliner rim which is a direct bolt on and try to find an appropriate flat profile tire...
