Replacement Battery 1st gen
bongobobny replied to Fvogt's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yes, you will find that many of us have converted over to the Oddesy battery for many reasons, the main one is to cure the slow crank when the engine is hot! Good info, though! BTW you can save some money by buying the plain 680 and not the 680 MJ (Metal Jacket) as it is the same battery... -
Funny how it seems to work that way, eh?!!?

Reiny, there is a very good chance all that went is a fuse located inside the charger. Not sure about the B&D units, but I've repaired more than one of the Craftsman units that way. Take the unit apart and lok for a tiny fuse inside. Should cost you about a buck or so to replace as it is aq standard glass miniture fuse...

Well, depending on how reputable of a place it is and how their quality of workmanship is, their labor costs sounds about right assuming they spend 2 hrs apiece per carb at $45 per hour, or 1 1/2 hrs apiece at $60 per hour. I would like to know, however, if all 4 diaphragms are going to be replaced, and ask for your old parts back. Also, what sort of guarantee will they give you on their work? Bottom line, I think they could trim their labor costs just a little but I could see it taking 6-8 hrs to remove, clean, disassemble, rebuild, reinstall and finally sync and test the carbs. I would also expect all new parts...

I agree with Thom440...

Oops, Bluetooth, not blackberry... Yeah, the main thing is that on a scoot, it absolutely needs to be water resistant, and the Zumo is one of the few that is!

Small block Stovebolts RULE...

Unless you plan on using Blackberry and/or XM or MP3 then save yourself some money and get the Zumo 450 instead of the 550. As far as the GPS unit, they are identical, but the 450 is a couple hundred cheaper...

As amazing as it sounds, I feel I have a lot more Venturerider friends in Ontario than I do in New York State! Of course they have more members from there anyway, just ask Marcarl! Bottom line, people are people, regardless of what country they are from. You got your nice folks, and your not-so-nice folks...

Ditto!

The way my wife and I feel about it is when it's our time to die, it's going to happen no matter what. God Almighty controls that. In the meantime we both enjoy riding way too much to quit even if we are in our 60's. Having said that, you can never be too careful on a bike and need to constantly be prepared for anything. We all know the dangers every time we swing a leg over...

The only real problem I can see is the reality that gas will be $4.00 a gallon before we know it!! If you can live with that reality then more power to you...
-
I wouldn't do that on a dare unless I totally obliterated my VIN and address... Trust no one you don't know, especially in a situation like this. Perhaps he would sign a promisary note stating he will pay you in full upon receiving the scoot...

Lawn sure looks quick and EZ to mow! Down once and done!

Hey Gambler, howzit going? Well, to answer that question, we need a little more info such as how it is going to be used such as on a scoot or in a cage, how good is her vision, etc. For the most part, the major brands are Garmin, Magellin, and Tom Tom. Prices have come down a lot, and unless you need waterproof, etc, you should be able to pick up a good unit for less than $200.
-
Go to www.CNET.com to find a much better price on the Zumo. Also, if you are not interested in bluetooth, then the 450 is just as good as the 550 and a bit cheaper. Other than the bluetooth it is pretty much the same unit. You should be able to find it for just under $500... Try this link... http://shopper.cnet.com/4144-5_9-0.html?query=Garmin+zumo+450&tag=srch&searchType=sh
