  1. Yesterday's weather DID leave a bit to be desired, didn't it?!!?
  2. That's one of the many great things that this site is about!!!
  3. Next time, drive down to Buffalo and fly Jet Blue...
  4. Was great seeing you again as well and great meeting Gord and Syl as well. Glad the rain held off long enough for you to enjoy Letchworth. You need to post pictures of that terific paint job on your scoot. Looks fantastic!!
  5. Dave, I also have a pretty good assortment of spare 1st gen parts, but sorry, no upper fairings. I do have the lowers, though, and inners, etc as well as metal frames, etc if you need anything.
  6. No problem at all, Tom! You are always welcome here. BTW Dregerman and I ren into a new member at Pioneer who is ex Cheektowaga MC police. I think you may have introduced yourself to him or already know him. He lives around here and has a black cherry 2nd gen.
  7. Most likely is exactly what you think it is, a bad U joint on your driveshaft. There is a grease fitting on some swing arms but it doesn't get the grease where it is needed. Plan on replacing it very soon...
  8. I see you have a brand spanking new Venture by your public info. I would take it back to your dealer over and over or try a better dealership. I'm thinking the possibility of a stuck needle valve not shutting off flooding the carb overflow, or as suggested an accumulation of gas from the overflow after filling up...
  9. Glad you're OK Dave!! It's getting harder and harder to find good plastic for 1st Gen's. Ebay is your best bet but it's gonna take time to accumulate everything you need. Guess you won't be coming up to visit anytime soon...
  10. Keep alert, young man, and come back to us in one piece! Godspeed, and thank you very much for serving our nation!!!
  11. Thanks, Phil, you are only a couple three hours away. Just work your way over to Genesseo and take Rt 39 West until you hit Rt 16, then turn around as you passed our place 1 mile back! We're in Aristo Terrace MHP off Rt 39 just past the Arcade/Yorkshire border in Yorkshire. Phone number is in my personal info as VR assistance number...
  12. This has been a very enjoyable week with Niagara135 stopping by Wed evening for a short visit, and Dragerman spending the day yesterday. We're expecting Mother and of course OH Sherry! tonight with friends tonight/tomorrow morning. These visits mean a lot to me! Yesterday Dragerman and myself met a brand spanking new member to the boards, just joined a couple of days ago, that also lives around the corner from me. Forgot his screen name but hopefully he will post here. Black Cherry 2nd gen just like Dragerman's... Hope to see more of you guys in the near future. Gets real boring for me being limited on my activities. I promise I won't put any of you to work unless you really really want to do something. We will be caging it up to Kitchener Wednesday afternoon for the final dinner. We will be hanging around the park with Scott and Sherry and anyone else that is around in the afternoon. Hope to meet a bunch of new friends as well as seeing many if not all of our old ones!
  13. TCI = Transistor Controlled Ignition which is in a black box about 6" x 8" x1" located under the coils sort of below the battery.
  14. Been praying for you, brother, and will continue to do so!
  15. Anything can be made to fit with ingenuity and engineering, but no, it is not a direct bolt on. Awwwww, man, what a time to be on linited funds...
  16. That is so sad...
  17. Ditto!!
  18. Oops, my bad! that's how it acts with the front tire off. With the front tire on, though, it pretty much stays wherever I place it. Maybe my tension is just a tad tight... Main point, along with the up/down force suggested, I wanted to make a point about the smoothness of the feel as opposed to any binding feeling by turning the handlebars with the front off the ground... Edit: From a design standpoint, as viewed from the side (and from the front), the center of mass of the assembly should ideally line up with a vertical line at the center of where you want the assembly to pivot on. In other words, as viewed from the side of the bike, there should be just as much mass forward of the steering head as there is behind the head. Too much behind the head and you loose some of the feeling of the front tire, and too much ahead of it makes it a little harder to control. Least wise that's what I remember from the last discussion we had on the pros and cons of extended front ends. The fact that my front end acted as described shows the effect of more mass behind the vertical centerline of the assembly as opposed to with a better balance the wheel stays where I put it regardless. Either that or we tend to get waaaay too technical at work...
  19. Also, while on the centerstand with the front wheel off the ground, when you turn the handlebars/wheel off center and let go, the wheel should return to straight ahead position every time. If it is sluggish or doesn't return to center position, you definately have a problem with the bearings and/or bearing tightness...
  20. Hmmmmmm, that rider should be wearing pink chaps...
  21. Yes, they are stubborn as a mule, aren't they?!!? Hope Jess has a speedy recovery and is back to her old self in no time Jack!
  22. Awwww, and here I thought maybe Paul got a speeding ticket...
  23. Seems to have magically got back to normal. Couldn't even open a thread earlier without getting database error message.
  24. At least you are OK Phil!! I'm sure you wil have the scoot back together in no time...
