  1. So far I've read a lot of good suggestions and many good reasons why, along with an equal amount of reasons why not, to have the Rallye there. It's too hot, too cold, too expensive, too far, no accomodations, not motorcycle friendly, etc. I personally think Squidley hit the nail right on the head by saying that it's really about the fellowship. I agree, we need a little less riding, and more time getting to know each other. I know firsthand from having to miss most of this years meet I missed out on that very important aspect of the entire experience. Also, as mentioned many times, what really matters is people taking the iniative to organize the meet. That being said, and for the very reasons I stated i n my first suggestion as to catering to the West coast crowd this year, I would like to nominate Pueblo Colorodo as a possibility. OK I'm really just trying to double my chances at the $100 gift certificate... PS: I nominate Western New York for the 2010 Rallye and will help organize that!
  2. Tell the adjuster you want the bike REPLACED to your satisfaction by a specific date and see what he says. Stand your ground, all insurance adjusters are crooks and scoundrels...
  3. Don't know about the hitch, but I will recommend Rick at buckeye performance parts for all the gaskets, o rings, etc. There should be a link to him somewhere or his number. He gives Ventureriders a good discount...
  4. OK, D = Deluxe, T=Touring. Deluxe as in the Royale as opposed to the Standard. As stated, C = California Emissions version.
  5. Right now I'd be happy to just plain Ride, much less Ride to work...
  6. gotta get a couple Gallons of that "Bugs Be Gone!!"
  7. I liked the Central/Southern Ohio suggestion in the contest thread! Sure, it would still be eastern US, but there is the West Coast meet as well for our western members. Ohio would be a little cooler that time of the year, centrally located to several states, and lots of members in the area. Maybe Buckeye Performance could set up a display or something.
  8. OK I need some help! I'm installing a '86 up CB in Goldie and I'm sort of temporarily stuck for some parts. I need the DIN cable from the CB to the amp, and all of the wiring harness for the CB from the unit to the switches, and to the noise filter. I have the noise filter but not the connector. I can hot wire the CB if necessary but would prefer the harness for a more professional, and removable installation. I definately need the din cable as the radio shack version is not a right angle head. Let me know what youy have and how much you need...
  9. Well, seeing as we sort of catered to the NorthEast crowd this year, how about the SouthWest next year. Maybe northern Arizona like Flagstaff. There would be some really spectacular rides in that area. Another possibility would be southern Utah which would be in the northern Grand Canyon area but with Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park in the area rides would be a real treat!
  10. Me likey, but may I suggest painting your entire false gas tank rather than just the fuel door. I just think that it would blend right in with the dash and seat... JMHO.
  11. Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's super.... Awww, it's just Squidley.
  12. Got to briefly meet Big Bob at Kitchener Wednesday. And where were you?? Wasn't the same without you!
  13. Congratulations!!!
  14. Uhhhh, Don, you aren't using the helmets to catch rain water, are you???
  15. Darn, somebody else I didn't meet last nite! Which table were you at?? I was up in the corner next to Mother...
  16. Mamoh man Randy, if you can get a new mirror for $69, rush down and buy it and you can make a huge profit because the last time I checked those mirrors new from Yama were close to $200...
  17. Yup, sounds like your old battery had a weak cell or something, and was toast! Hopefully you should be fine for a few more years...
  18. The seats sometimes do develop a case of creaping crud that eventually hardens into resin like balls of deposit. That may or may not be your issue. The only seemingly cure is to reupholster or replace the seat. JCWhitney still has replacement seats for 1st gen available...
  19. Yes, I have delt with them too, seems to be a good honest dealer...
  20. Yup, Squid is alive and wel in Kitchener! Had a beer with him last nite. His new 2nd Gen, a rreal beaut, may be an '07 but it is brand spankibg new, had exactly 1 mile on it when he picked it up. Now has around 350 miles on it...
  21. Waaay Cool! My '84 has 14K miles on it too!! You are going to absolutely love that bike, a rolling Barcolounger...
  22. Glad things worked out for you!!
  23. The how part shouldn't be that difficult. Just go down to Sears and buy yourself some snap fasteners. They aren't that hard to put on, just make sure you have them lined up correctly on the bike...
  24. You are very welcome! I also have saddlebag crash bars for '83 - '85 in fair to good shape (3 sets). Just need an addy to send them...
  25. Why would you need parts unless you drop it??? Like others have mentioned, the only concern would be with the cards. Once you get it running, a can of sea foam would be in order. You will also want to flush the hydraulics and the cooling system as well...
