Reiny, I'll take the trunk mount rack. Might take the vents as well if no one else wants them...

I have one side of the chrome protection pieces but not the other. I used plastic chrome adhesive puieces from Pep Boys to make my protector/dress up pieces...

Hey Dan, great to finally meet up with you in person. You sure have a nice looking scoot, and hope you get the rest of the bugs out soon! See you again sometime!

Hey Mini, a big thank you to you and Jeff too!! Of course thanks Rooster, Randy, and everyone who either had something to do with the event or participated in it! Becky and I had the time of our lives!!! Great seeing a few we already met and meeting a whole bunch of new friends as well! Looking forward to AshvilleII if and when it happens.

...And now my feet hurt from walking all around the Sourwood Festival! We saw a bunch of 2nd gens coming back from a ride around noontime.

I had my '83 Honda CX650 get blown off the centerstand once. It too had a cover on it and yes the cover must have made an excellent sail! Glad there wasn't more damage to your scoot!!

Good to see you post here, Steve! Yes that is EXACTLY what this site is about, one big happy family! I am very proud to be a member of this site and love every minute of it. There is lots of meets to come to, and nobody cares what you drive or how you spell!! Also, it does help to have a sense of humor around here and don't let the 2nd gen's try to convert you...

first gen temp guage

Hmmm, the '86 was a Mk2 Brad, and Mother's '86 works normal. Maybe yours was an early '86 or ??? -
first gen temp guage
bongobobny replied to george0fthejungle's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OK it is quite normal for the Mk1 1st Gen's temp gauge to read on the high side. It is quite normal for them to read high but they are not really overheating. That was one of the many minor things that got changed on the Mk2 1st gens. Just wanted to pass that bit of info on to you... -
Heads Up On Headlight Switch
bongobobny replied to bongobobny's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OK I think I finally figured it out. I think putting the helmet on ther Garmin mount at the rest stops was putting that switch in that position... -
Glad you finally got here, Craig...

I encountered a really strange one on the road Saturday. We stopped for ggas and when I went to restart, it acted like my battery took a dump. We push started ok, but the voltmeter barely made it up to 12 volts. About a half hour down the road I just happened to notice that my Hi/Low beam switch was halfway inbetween the 2 settings, so I reset it. Almost immediately the voltmeter went up above 12 volts, and the problem was solved. Fine and dandy, but yesterday I smelled a very faint burnt electrical smell, and looked, and sure enough the darnn switch was halfway inbetween again, same basic symptom. Put switch back and everything is beautiful again. I may be accidently hitting the switch when clutching as we have been doing a lot of twisties these last 2 days... Just wanted to make you aware of a potential problem source!

I won't be doing the switch over until this winter but if you aren't fixed before then let me know... -
C.L.A.S.S.
bongobobny replied to oldschool's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The "spmething's loose" may be a broken solder connection on the main connector inside the unit where it mounts to the circuit board, or a connector in the unit. If you have a friend who has electronic skills perhaps he or she can resaolder all the co nnections for you. This is the most common reason for the class units to malfunction...- 9 replies
