  1. Next time I see it on ebay I will PM you the link. Also, keep in mind that the Mk1's temp gauge reads high to begin with. Mine is normally 1/2 to 2/3 depending on how hot a day..
  2. Hmmmm, that doesn't sound good. Maybe time to flush your system? How's your coolant level? You may be low. You probably wouldn't notice a temp difference while moving, but at a stop you would. There is a kit I have seen on ebay a few times that replaces your temp sensor with a lower temp unit and kicks the fan on. Also, if you find your fan is defective, I have a spare or two...
  3. Surrre! Finally find a reliable source for the stuff and they are sold out!! Wonder if they carry muffler bearing grease?!!?
  4. Interesting problem!! I wonder if some sideplay in your transmission could be causing that... You may want to swing a leg over and without putting the kickstand up, level out the bike and see if it starts running right. That would eliminate the kickstand switch. I'm sure some other people here will have some ideas as well...
  5. Those screw in Speed Bleeders work great as well! Yup, a turkey baster is part of my shop tools...
  6. May pay a visit myself...

  8. Yup, that's usually what goes on flashers and relays, the contacts...
  9. Hey! Mine's looked like that in the past! Coulda done without the butt shot, though...
  10. Yes, that IS why. The reserve lighting unit looks for a specific currant draw, and if it is less, the circuitry does it's thing and lights the warning on the dash. You can either hang a couple of additional lights somewhere, or use those compensator resistors that are for turn signals when you switch over to led's...
  11. Uhhh, are BOTH taillight bulbs good as well?? If one of those are burnt out that will make the light come on as well...
  12. I'm not sure, but I'm thinking that he compression ratio is a tad higher on the 1200cc engines than on the 1300cc...
  13. P.S. As you have discovered, we are ALL nuts!!!
  14. Man, does he still have any more switches?? I'll gladly clean out his stock of those switches. Can't seem to locate them very easily, especially at that price!!
  15. Nah, don't worry about it! Being new to you, you won't notice the difference in handling until you get it fixed. Besides, there is a lot of members in the VR assistance list. Just download a copy just in case. Post your route and I'm sure there will be members along the way wiling to meet up with you and ride a ways with you as well! Go for it!! Have an ad-Venture!!!

  19. There's a lot of helpful and knowledgeable members in Ontario if we knew just a little more specifically where you are...
  20. When I read the title of this thread, I was wondering if Brad was BBQ'ing again...
  21. I have. I use a cassette adaptor to get the audio into the system. I made a small bracket and glued it onto the top of my windshield to mount the antenna which in my case is a magnetic base, and ran the antenna lead along the edge if the windshield and hid it with plastic automotive door moulding. Keep in mind I have a tall shield. Anyway, the reception is about as good as you could expect for satellite radio, constant drop outs in hilly terrain, etc. I'm not a huge fan of XM but the unit was free...
  22. Just filled up both cars at $3.83 which is actually the cheapest it's been for a while around here. Everybody else must have had the same idea as the station was very busy both times...
  23. The amazing thing was it was easier to read WITHOUT my glasses...
  24. Me too!!
  25. As far as the 2nd gear issue, that was fixed on the later '85s. I'm not sure what serial number was the change, but I believe that info is somewhare on the site. Only the early 85s still had that problem. If you have over 50K on the bike and 2nd is not acting up then you're probably OK. These bikes will go well over 100,000 miles and are the most comfortable bikes around. Not that hard to work on them in general either...
