  1. Cook it until it changes color! If I recall right, it's just a minute or two...
  2. 3000 suggests that you own a GM product. Other manufacturers recommend longer periods. My Mopar says every 7500 miles. My GM (Chevy) dealer says that now GM admits that you realy don't need to change oil that often. I've used the "Old School" rule of every 4000 miles, and that was the days when Mobil first came out with the Mobil 1 which you strill changed at 4k but the advantage supposedly was Mobil 1 kept it's viscocity for a longer period. That was in the early 60's. Synthetics have come a long way and you can use something like Amsoil purple and be good for 10,000 miles or better. In my younger days I drove a couple of cars that burnt sooo much oil that you never changed it because it was self-changing...
  3. Myself, I PLAN on triking my scoot in a couple of years. I'm in my 60's, and already lost a toe to type II diabetes. My wife is older than myself and still loves to ride. Sure, it will handle a little diferent, but it will still feel the same just touring around enjoying the sites. Performance and handling will be different but I can deal with it.
  4. Rubbing Alcohol and elbow grease might do it. If you are lucky, there was a layer of dust on your scoot before it was painted and a lot of it will be trapped on it rather than your finish... Chrome cleaner will clean up the chrome ok!
  5. Radical!!!
  6. Have you tried one of those seat pads that is made from lamb hyde? You may want to try something like that which is far easier than reupholstering your seat. My tourist and myself use a couple of animal mattresses bought from the pet store and they seem to work out OK but we also have this sheep hyde that covers the whole seat and is super comfy! Your main complaint seems to be sore butt after a couple of hours. Actually I have heard this about Corbin seats from a couple of people wnereas others say they are great. Do you have highway pegs? Changing your leg position occasionally helps out or at least it does for me...
  7. They only ask for address if you don't deselect the "Join the club" button on the last page. Deselect and you get your results without entering anything more. It's the same page as entering your birthdade...
  8. http://is1.okcupid.com/users/704/146/705147469668491512/mt1108813499.jpg___1_500_1_500_cb94de6a_.png You're a bit of a snob, but otherwise well-adjusted. Your bike is the Ducati Monster. Sexy. Powerful. Agile. Italian style in a badass matte black. Of all the test takers, you are most likely to have been hoping for your result to indicate that your bike is a Harley. It isn't. Sorry. You show the potential to become a superior rider, and you need a bike that encourages and rewards your learning. The Harley will just hold you back, and you'll have nagging feelings that something is wrong. The Suzuki SV series is also a good bet, but it wouldn't appeal to you. Far too Common Interesting comment about the Harley especially seeing as I selected "Don't like Harleys" 4 moxie, 3 zeal, and 8 pimp! Hmmmmm...
  9. Enjoy the ride, Thom! BTW the CB is hooked up and working great now, many thanks!!!
  10. Never mind baseball, how about them BILLS?!!?
  11. I';m glad this question came up as we have just purchased new Nolan helmets ourselves, and I was wondering about the sound quality as well compared to the J&M's...
  12. Yes, I did that once and it worked out fine. I have since switched over to an Odessy battery and eliminated the sensor.
  13. Brad, about 6 hrs drive time from our place. We are an hour from the Peace Bridge. I would make it a 3 day weekend if you are planning on going down. Straight line distance for us is around 200 miles but actual highway distance was more like 300 or so...
  14. Yupper!!!
  15. Can't make it next month, but we had a wonderful time this month!!! We are still considering spending a week down your way next summer most likely 4th of July week. Will probably make one or two next summer...
  16. I got a Piggybacker this summer and went around the block once with it empty to check for wobbles, etc then loaded it and took off for Asheville. Had to keep looking in the mirrors to make sure it was still there! Found out the hard way that it is slightly WIDER than the bike and scraped a guard rail with the fender. On the twisties I almost think it helped handling a little!! Just remember at all times that it is back there especially at stop time!! Also, I HIGHLY recommend a swivel hitch!!!!! Trust me on this one, if you accidently drop the bike, the cost of a swivel hitch is a lot less than the cost of a new hitch...
  17. Or, get the 2 part plastic epoxy specifically for the right compound plastic (ABS), made by Permatex, Devcon, etc from Wally World, Auto Zone, etc and scraps of plastic fabricated to approximately the right size. The epoxy can be sanded, acts like filler, and can be painted, and holds great!
  18. Oh, were you gone?????

OK, so as to not disappoint Dave, I'll post a silly answer... Uhhh, is that the star date that Captain Kirk first visited your planet, Swifty????
  20. Bob, I don't need the pieces right away as they are for the project '85 that I haven't even got running yet. It's a winter project and I haven't decided what color it's going to be so the crappy paint job doesn't bother me. However, if cmiles or another member want the pieces go ahead and sell them to whoever and I'm sure something will come up sooner or later...
  21. Frog Man, leave it yo you to find beauty in Buzzards!! Way to go!
  22. I don't think it was ;posted here yet but I have seen it before. I think Scott (Mother) sent ne an email about it a few weeks ago...
  23. I'm always looking for upper fairing halves if the price is right, and top black pieces left and right. PM me if you want...
  24. Suuuure, while the cat's away the mice will play, eh?!!? Sorry we had to miss that one, especially with Earl's literally right around the corner, but oh, well...
  25. We just got back about an hour or so ago, and what an awesome weekend we had!! The ride down Friday started out a little chilly at 62 degrees but after lunch things warmed up. Lunch was in this really neat restaurant on rt 15 just across the border into Pa. They have sugar free pies!!! I know that will be a destination sometime next year with the local crowd. We got to the hotel about an hour earlier than expected. Craig (ceedoo) and his lovely wife joined us for dinner. Thanks, guys, for driving an hour and a half just to do that! We really felt special! Leaving the restaurant, a car making a left onto the highway across the intersection from where I was making a right surprised me and Craig got to see me do a snake dance to stop the Venture fro m going over... Sarurday was an absolute blast!! Plenty of time to meet some new people as well as some we already knew. I'll never remember all those names so have patience with me. Got a surprise when my bike's twin showed up! Good thing, as us 1st gen'ers were outnumbered with just three of us total. The other blonde was a low mileage '83 and has the distinct privelige of being serial number 101, probably the very first 1st gen Venture! The ride was great and we managed to keep the group together for the most part. Yes, I'll sign up for one of those tee shirts. The only problem with River Road was that it was a little rough, especially seeing as my front shock is shot and in need of rebuilding. I bet that it is a great road to ride on in the summer when it's hot as there is a lot of shade. That homemade ice cream was out of this world!! After the ride we stopped at the Galleria Mall in York Pa... big mistake!! We were fine until we walked into Big Boy's Toys. Spent $550 on 2 new Nolan flip up helmets. Anybody need a S and XL HJC flip up?? Anybody used the Nolan Bluetooth add on yet? Not gonna spend another $300 if they don't work too well or sound like crud... We finaly got on the road by 10;30 today. Had Scrapple for breakfast which I haven't had since the early '70s. Saw a parked brown 1st gen mk2 but the highway was too busy to turn around and leave a note. It was a flooring place across from the Iron Kettle restaurant and Shell station on Rt 22/322 north of Harrisburg near rt 11. We had a high of 82 degrees this afternoon in Pa but after a late lunch in Painted Post NY things went south. The last hour of our trip we drove thru a mist and the temp dived to a low of 57. We just had a nice cup of hot chocolate and the chill is finally going away. Would we do it again? In a heartbeat!!! Been thinking of spending a week in Pa Dutch country for vacation next year. Maybe see some of you next year. Riderduke, you really surprised us by being there! Great to see you...
