Battery Cables??
bongobobny replied to Bill W.'s topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The advantage of the replacement cables is that they are a thicker cable, conductor wise. This helps out the old "starting when hot" problem as heat raises wire resistance, but more strands means more "resistors" in parallel lowering the total resistance from point a to point b considerably. This results in a smaller IR drop across the cable which means more voltage to the starter motor. You are right about corrosion as it too adds resistance to the cabling resulting in less voltage to the motor..., -
Gee, I thought it was the frogs have to freeze 3 times before you plant...

Oops, forgot Easter is next weekend!! Oh, well, there's always the following weekend for what I don't get done, such as the rear brake, the clutch, etc...

Of course I know that!! And for anyone who hasn't had the chance to meet Big Tom yet, he is a very kind and giving person and I'm glad to have him as a friend even though we are constantly razzing each other! That being said, I assume the check is in the mail, eh Tom...

Ever hear of Depends??? Just wait til you're really old, you will eat those words... P.S. No, I'm not using them... yet! I for one am planning on triking Goldie in a couple of years due to toe loss and deteriorating health. Wife and I are looking forward to being professional biker bums once I retire!

Yah, my guess is a stuck float as well, especially if you are seeing sludge in the resovoir. That being the case I DEFINATELY recommend rebuilding components. The only alternative for brakes on a motorcycle is to find something soft to hit...

Man, glad to hear they are relatively OK! I will pray for a speedy recovery! I may have some plastic pieces he can use to fix the Venture depending on what's broke and what's not. Have him PM me with needs when he gets around to it...

That's kind of a toughie! Well, the obvious is Niagara Falls, but there are sooo many other saights in our state as well, such as Cooperstown, Letchworth State Park, Lake George, etc! If you did the western part of NY state you could see the falls as well as several other historical sites as well as Letchworth State Park, and see the most famous sites of the area as well, Bongo Bob's hangout!!!

OK the pictures don't do it justice, poor color duplication, lighting, etc...

Stripping paint.
bongobobny replied to Ivan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
They do make paint designed specifically for painting plastic. That's what I am going to use to paint the '85 project bike with. TRhey also make a primer specifically designed for plastic which you can paint regular paint on top of if there is a specific color you are locked in to. Funny thing is that the color scheme I'm going with is 2 tone blue (Navy and medium) with silver accent! We want pictures of yours, or at least I do to see what it looks like. Before, during and after is way cool... -
I'm going to be taking my whole fork assembly off and putting on a rebuilt setup, and replacing all the brake lines, calipers, and master cylinders aswell. I could use an extra pair of hands or two gettring things done and making sure I don't accidently drop Goldie on the cold hard concrete floor in the process. The garage is heated, there is half a case of Mexican beer in the garage, and I wil buy pizza and wings for nourishment. I'm thinking next Saturday to get started. If anybody is bored or would like to help, come on over...

LOWER tree info needed
bongobobny replied to jasonm.'s topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Maybe I didn't express it right. I am offering the triple tree off Goldie WITH the original race that is mated to the original bearing. I installed a new bearing on the replacement painted triple tree complete with new race that will go into Goldie when I do the final swap hopefully next weekend...
