  1. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/bah_humbug https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humbug Just a little edification so you know exactly what you mean when you say the term... Quite frankly, what Christmas is supposed to represent as opposed to what the world has turned it into makes me want to say HUMBUG!!!
  2. Not sure what you mean by "ate the wire" on your cassette adapter, if you mean the audio wire leads broke off, well just eject the adapter and slap in a new one, they can be found for as cheap as $5. A while ago I bought a cassette adapter that is Bluetooth and it was less than $20 from what I remember. I just haven't tried that one out yet even though I've had it a year or so...
  3. Well, for the price of Amzoil (I assume you are talking the "Purple" that supposedly lasts a VERY long time) you can buy lots more less expensive quarts of oil...
  4. Yup! Where I live Verizon is the only carrier that gives me bars anywhere inside the house besides next to the window...
  5. Send 'em over here!
  6. NEVER accept the first offer from an insurance company!! I would hesitate on the second one as well...
  7. Sometimes, it's all Voodoo...
  8. Yeah, Todd, what's up??? What's the matter, Bubba got your tongue???
  9. They gotta pay for their "FREE" healthcare someway...
  10. You are right, there are no Royal Star Venture specific windshield bags out there, but with a little MacGyver'ing you can make anyone fit. I've seen "Harley" bags used as well as other bags. I can't remember whose bags I used, but I had to punch a hole in the tongues for the windshield bolts to pass through so I have two bags, each on the side of the center vent on my shield. I store sunglasses in one, and waterproof gloves in the other. I use my Garmin's satellite radio and micro SD card for music. Come on, man, get into the 21st century!
  11. My first thoughts echo others, make sure you are getting a GOOD spark to all 4 cylinders. You can purchase a spark gap tester from just about any auto parts store and should cost less than $15. You should be able to pull a full 0.100" of spark. The best way to set the air richness needle valves is with a CO sniffer monitoring each exhaust pipe. There is a plug on each exhaust pipe for this purpose. The ideal setting is 5.1 from what I remember. There is an excellent DVD out there by Damon Ferarro concerning the proper way to disassemble, clean, reassemble, and set up the carbs. It was made for VMax carbs but they are the same as Venture carbs other than a few differences in the metering, but that is also brought out in the video. It's well worth the investment, and when bought along with the engine rebuild video he gives a discount price. The carb video is around $15 or so... EDIT: I was spelling his name wrong! Hey, I'm an old fart and my brain is sometimes misfiring! Here's a link to a thread that has his email address in it... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?119186-Bought-Carb-Rebuild-Video-by-Damon-Ferraiuolo&highlight=Damon
  12. This thread makes me think of Barry McGuire's hit from the 60's...
  13. Tell me about it, I have over 6K invested in having PCW Racing rebuild a 1300 with VMax heads alone...
  14. Invest in the Damon Ferarro video on rebuilding and setting up the carbs, it's well worth it!!!
  15. Fuel injection has been discussed here before, and a while back there was a guy machining injection systems that slid in where the diaphragms go, but he went out of business. A member here, Flying Fool, has the drawings. There's another member here that had a company from New York design a fuel injection system using a specially fabricated intake manifold and that system did use a sensor for ignition control. So, there's been actual projects using both sequential and batch injection. Both projects are going to cost you a lot of time and money, so you need to decide is it really worth it on a 25 to 30+ year-old bike...
  16. If you REALLY want to be a Prepper, here's what I suggest! Get yourself a copy of the HOLY BIBLE and read it! Have a good talk with a few Evangelists about just who this guy Jesus Christ is, and then decide for yourself if he is who they say he is, and accept Him as your Lord and Savior in your heart as well as your head! Put your whole trust in God to provide for your needs and safety! Then reread everything that deals with the Second Coming of Jesus to this world, and learn about the event that is referred to as the "rapture" although that name never is mentioned. Find out that being a "Prepper" should be living a life of dedication to God and HIS wisdom and you will never have to worry about what happens to this world, it is already decided! That being said, nowhere in the Bible does it say we need gun control so if you feel the need to arm yourself then go ahead, and make up a "bug-out" kit and have a survival plan and a stash of food, or learn how to survive in the wilderness. You never know when these skills will come in handy if you ever get stranded out in the middle of nowhere. For myself, when the Zombie Apocolypse happens, I'm going to be alongside Jesus riding a horse and slaying Zombies with blood rising up to the saddle...
  17. Sorry for the late reply, Craig, we've been on vacation, but yes the Strat front rim is a plug and play deal! I'm looking for one myself...
  18. That's pretty much up to personal taste, Bill! What one person likes the next person may loathe! Ya gotta swing a leg over and decide for yourself if you're gonna like it or not. That being said, there are a lot of people out there that like them, just not quite my cup of tea but I like the looks of them...
  19. Try right-hand clicking on the picture and see if it comes up with a box allowing you to copy or save the image, or download it to your computer then post it from that. I see a lot of ventureriders on there so I just joined. If I find the image when I'm accepted, I will try to copy it for you...
  20. We'll see what we can do, no vacations are planned until April after this coming week...
  21. Sent you a PM, fellow 24Q20!!
  22. Yup, I remember the CBX, that was one wide engine!! A bit scary fast too...
  23. Well, I got my ticket waaaay back in the early '60s when I was a young teen (around 14). I went into the military in 67 and my license expired. I was more interested in fast cars and faster women at the time! My old call letters got reissued a very long time ago. I was mostly on 80 meters with a little work on 40. I had a Heathkit Apache and an old Hallicrafters S90. Nowadays where I live I'm in a valley and they won't let me put up a tower so I really can't get back into it if I wanted to but that's OK...
  24. 73's here too! ex WB2GBO, gave it up in the late 60's
