  1. Yup!! The whole idea behind disabling the headlight (and dash lights) is so that the starter motor gets as much energy from the battery as possible!!
  2. No problem at all Carl!! You know the drill...
  3. After careful deliberation, we won't be making it, it's just going to be too darn COLD this weekend! Besides, Becky has started her new diet and she wouldn't have come along so it would have been just me...
  4. Oh, OK! To answer your question, I use white lithium grease myself...
  5. If I may ask a dumb question, now I am assuming from post number 1 that, being only 15 degrees out you just pulled Tinker out of the garage so that you could get the Tahoe out, you did NOT ride the bike anywhere, and that rather the bike was just idling in the driveway, so how in hell could the speedometer cable squeal when the bike was just setting?????
  6. H N Y!!!
  7. I think my first passport was $25. How times have changed...
  8. Specifically, it is a resistor in series with the probe lead going to the accessory connection on the fuse block. The value of the resistor should be somewhere between 2,000 and 4,000 ohms. Do NOT connect the battery directly to 12 volts, you can burn out part of the CMU that way...
  9. Wow, up to $160??? Just a few years ago we renewed ours for $100 each. Passports are a good thing IMHO, you never know when you will need one...
  10. I use a warm mist humidifier in the winter to keep the air comfortable. I do not like the cool air (ultrasonic) humidifiers as they leave white dust all over the place. Trust me, it makes a big difference, Rod...
  11. There is an unfortunate fact of life that pertains to cars as well as bikes. Regardless of how much we spend on farkles, they, unfortunately, do not help with the resale value. Actually, some people feel that accessories "personalize" a vehicle, and that may not represent the buyer's personality. That being said, asking 8K is not out of the question, but it may take a long wait for the right person to come around. I guess it depends on just how fast you want to get rid of your bike...
  12. Your product certainly has my endorsement!!! I highly recommend you!!!
  13. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, and to all a good night...
  14. Yeah! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Bob! I don't care what that Marcarl fellow says or thinks...
  15. I hereby nominate SE MI as the location...
  16. Nice going, Don, now Mr. MRAF and I are getting it!! It was a nice rain that was melting down some of the snow piles, but now it's filling up with that stupid white stuff...
  17. You can always call them back and reschedule for a different time...
  18. Yes, I noticed!! Isn't it great what a change in leadership can do?!!?
  19. We'll be in Florida in April...
  20. The days are getting longer!!! The days are getting longer!!!
  21. running his dad-burned infernal machine full balls to the wall burying even...
  22. Waaaaay cool, Gary!! I think I sort of remember that screen name, maybe...
  23. Quick question, when was the last time you changed your plugs??They may be OK enough for running, but maybe for starting the spark is not quite up to snuff. The reason I ask this is that it is a known fact that our bikes eat plugs and ideally should be changed at 10,000-mile intervals or less! Using Iridium plugs helps to make the interval longer. NGK's work best in the Venture. Also, you may want to measure the resistance of the plug wire caps, corrosion can and will get into the spring and disc causing a higher resistance. So, if carb work does not fix the issue, I would explore spark next...
  24. Ed, I may still have some of the plastic you need for your blonde! I'll check this spring if you can wait that long. I may have serviceable upper fairing pieces, dash pieces, and maybe turn signal lenses...
  25. Nice find!!! My only negative comment will be that you may find you don't like the Corbin seat as you will tend to slide forward on it but that is from my personal findings and pertinent only to me... Good luck getting it running and on the road again! You may want to replace the front forks with MK2 ones and put on some R1/R6 calipers to help out with the stopping power. Don't worry about the go power, there is plenty of that with the MK1!!!
