Yup, without proper lubrication it is very easy to scarf a rubber seal or o ring! Years of aircraft hardware assembly taught me this... Also, did you hone the cylinder before rebuilding?? Also, check for a nasty score on the surface that can allow for fluid to blow by...

Another indicator of a bad solder connection is new solder should look shiny. As solder deteriorates with age it will dull just like a cold solder joint looks. With motorcycles, there is always vibration and with the case of the edge connector that has some weight attached to it the pins for the connector will break loose internally inside the ball or glob of solder. If you are comfortable with soldering then reheat and reflow all of the edge connectors joints. If you aren't adept at soldering then find a friend who is and have them redo the joints...

Yet another vote for an oil change!! As far as the clutch goes, put the bike in 1st gear and rev it up a lot. Does the bike want to try to creep forward?? If NOT, then your clutch is fine!!!

Yup! Think 15W40 or 15W45 Diesel engine oil, works perfectly in our V4's. As mentioned we have what is known as a "wet" clutch so no motor oils with friction inhibitors in them unless you like clutches that slip...

Why not save yourself some money and just drill a couple of holes in the back of the stock mufflers? It gives you a deep throaty growl with the loudness that depends on just how many holes you drill. Talk to Big Tom about how and where and how many holes...

OK, dollars to donuts the first major issue you will have is with the carburetors, which are quite complex. There is a lot of great information out there to help you out with this, and even a great video on how to properly rebuild and set them up! Yup, you stole that one! The sidecar alone is worth that much if not more! If you do part it out you can get $1000 to $2000 but it is a long tedious undertaking... Welcome aboard, we will help you out with this as much as we can!
