  1. So THAT'S what happened to them! They are probably on top of one of the lawnmowers in there...
  2. My first guess would be improper neck bearing torque but oscillation from that happens at lower speeds too! The symptoms can occur at any speed and have a range of 10 - 20 mph where it will occur.
  3. Horsepower is the strength, torque is the oomph...
  4. I think I may have heard that name from the history of breweries in Western New York, Jack! Cool beans! I used to make wine a long long time ago...
  5. Just got in myself about a half hour ago! Hit rain for the last hour or so of my trip. Just as I pulled over to put my rain jacket on I noticed my Patriot Guard Riders sock for my flag blew off somewhere on the expressway, so I flew Old Glory the rest of the way home in the rain! What a fantastic weekend seeing old friends and making a couple of new ones! Thanks, Don and Eileen for sponsoring this event!!!
  6. Yup! Depends on the condition, and how handy you are as it is, after all a 30 year old bike! If it is running decent enough and it stops ok then it should be well worth it! Check the date codes on the tires and if they are more than 6 years old then plan on replacing them!
  7. We all had a 7:00 wake-up call at the Red Roof this AM! Fire Alarm complete with Fire Trucks!!! Seems to have been a false alarm, but we are up and awake whether or not we want to be...
  8. We were thinking of you at dinner last night, Craig! We miss you!
  9. I'll be leaving in about an hour. I've been under the weather for the last week and a half and was contemplating caging it but I think I'm going via trike...
  10. How much "Sister Mary" should I bring, Jay??
  11. Ya done did exactly what I was going to do because that is what I thought was how you came up with the name Vixen...
  12. That reminds me of those plastic hands on a spring with a suction cups that were popular with truckers back in the 70's for a short while. I think the demise of them was when a couple of truckers broke off all of the fingers except one...
  13. I won't be meeting up with you guys this year, Carl. I'm leaving here around 9, I'll meet you at the Red Roof, I plan on being there between 3 and 4...
  14. I see one in this search for under $20 from Amazon... https://search.myway.com/search/GGmain.jhtml?ct=ARS&n=78488dcb&p2=%5ECAM%5Echr999%5ETTAB02%5E&pg=GGmain&pn=1&ptb=3C4C4990-25AF-4144-AFD7-25CA87565396&qs=&si=&ss=sub&st=tab&trs=wtt&searchfor=Motorcycle+Air+Filters+for+Yamaha+Venture+Royale&feedurl=ars%252Ffeedback%253ForiginalQuery%253Dyamaha%252Bventure%252Bair%252Bfilter%2526relatedQuery%253Dmotorcycle%252Bair%252Bfilters%252Bfor%252Byamaha%252Bventure%252Broyale&tpr=jrel3&ots=1527517818495
  15. The real battle you will encounter is getting the right amount of restriction in the airflow to match the stock flow! Have you even tried to find a replacement stock element? I may be wrong but they should still be available. A semi-popular mod several years ago involved four of those mini filters on top of each carb but you had to incorporate a restrictor disc that reduced the air intake opening on the top of the carbs to get the airflow proper for the right mixture...
  16. Yah! Looks like we missed a great one today! Unfortunately, #2 stepdaughter is moving into their new house and they needed a lot of help! Dogman's place is a really super place!!!
  17. Well, it's easy to remove the seat...errr, never mind!
  18. So sad to hear this news, Orlin! I remember the username but I am not sure if I ever met him in person. We have lost so many wonderful members through the years and I hate to hear of the loss of yet another! I am still not totally over the loss of Yammer, and now we have to deal with another. Indeed, my prayers go out to the family and friends!
  19. I once had two carbs stop working, and the problem was a very strange, but not the first time something like that happened! One of the two vent lines got plugged by an insect making a home in it! Each vent hose is used by two carbs. What happened is the bowls got emptied, and when the fuel pump tried to refill the bowls, the trapped air built up pressure, and stopped the fuel from entering the bowls!!! So, as a quick test, try blowing through both of your vent lines and make sure they are not plugged. This may not be your problem but this has happened more than once...
  20. Your retired military ID SHOULD get you a discount in many restaurants as well as Lowes and Home Depot...
  21. Sometimes you can hammer them out from the other side, other times you have to put a cut through them so they can contract, and once in a great while you have to make two cuts to take out a small section. I use a Dremel tool with a metal cutting disc when I have to cut, otherwise an old screwdriver and a hammer for pounding out from the center. Don't worry about putting a score or slight groove in the neck when making cuts, they have zero impact on the new race... I think once in my life I saw a specialized tool that had 3 adjustable L teeth and a slide hammer arrangement but I wouldn't have a clue where to find such a tool!
  22. Yes, unless you plan on spending the rest of your life in Canada, you do indeed need a passport to get back into the US! There is an alternative, if you have an enhanced driver's license they work as well...
  23. Nah, the site is just changing is all, I doubt you pi$$ed anybody off! With our Hannigans, the torque on the head bearing is a lot more than stock. I'm sure if you give them a call they can provide you with their spec...
  24. Very common problem!! Once you learn how to split your fairing, which should take about 10 to 15 minutes, what you want to do is spray each and every radio connector and seat them a few times. Then take some dielectric grease and coat just the plastic, not the actual connectors, to keep moisture from getting inside the connectors. That should cure it! If you want to make arrangements, I would be glad to help you out! Just find my number in my profile (use the home number, not the cell) and give me a call...
