My niece has a v star 650 classic at first she drilled the mufflers and it wasn't loud enough so she picked up a set of long shots and now she has graduated to the back of the pack. We followed her and it is kind of annoying after a while. But she is happy. So it could be any brand that is to loud to follow behind. Richie R

I replaced the stock ones with led ones and added these also. It turned out pretty good I think. Richie R http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa254/richier73/100_0778.jpg

I have a question about making your own maps to load into a sd card for my gps. Are there any websites you can go to to do this? I tried searching for it but found nothing. Thanks Richie R

Glad you came out of it ok. Your bike took a beating though. Those darn deer don't discriminate when crossing the roads. We have a lot up here even in the daytime you have to watch out and now we have turkeys ugg. Richie R

The Hopkins converter is a 5 to a 4 wire. The RSV is a 5 wire and most trailers are a 4 wire. It is because we have separate turn signals from the brake light. Richie R

My wife and I snowmobile in Michigan the UP, we were with friends one weekend and one of my buddies was not wearing his helment while driving in the parking lot to get some gas when a police car pulled in front of him and stopped him. He told him to put his helment on. Now they can pretty much stop you for anything just to make you have the correct insurance. Like my wife says we have helment head for for about 9 to 10 months out of the year. Richie R

Not sure what I am going to use to hold it down with, most likely a rachet strap would be the best way. The cooler didn't go anywhere with a small ride around the block but that isn't a full days ride.

Last fall I posted a want ad for some old used floorboards so between here and the star touring forum I got a pair of them. My first brackets did not turn out like I wanted but this one will do until I get the other one done. Thanks to 99 Silver for being so nice. My new Road King Mufflers came with a wig?"

I was talking to one of my buddies at our local HD shop he said they used cats in the mufflers for couple of years. And then they realized people would change out mufflers so the cat is in the head pipes now so I don't if its true or not. Richie R -
Talented young man I would brag to. Now he just need to give a venturerider discount. Looks very nice. Richie R

When I installed mine I called DDM Tuning and asked that, they told me if you have a good battery ans since it is connected to the battery I wouldn't have to have a switch. I never had a problem with mine so no switch. Richie R

Thanks for the info, will look it up and give it a try. Richie R

Oh sure you just want me to take my bike apart again. I took shield off bracket and cut the bottom out of it and left a small strip on each side of the bulb that goes out to the end and covers up the tip of the bulb. It did have dark spot on high beam but I just adjusted it to where it did not affect my night driving. But when it warms up Iam going to take it apart and drill a hole in the very end to let some light out. Hope this helps. Richie R

Ok guys my 01 has the original shock and it moans when you sit on the bike and cycle the suspension, does it mean that it is failing or just the nature of the beast. There is no oil leaking out of the shock when I put the bike away for winter. Just wondering if I should get a new shock for her? Richie R

I use hid in 6000k 55 watt and it is awesome. It is hi - low beam and I modfied the shield that covers the buld some and made a huge improvment. It is very bright at night and the on coming cars don't flash me so I must have it aimed pretty good. http://www.ddmtuning.com/ Richie R

I came from riding a 1100 v star my wife and I rode it all over for a couple of years before we got our 01 venture. Yes you need to really to be careful at slow speeds and use rear brake only at those speeds. It will feel top heavy at first but it goes away after you get moving and the motor loves RPMs. Just do some solo rides at first so you get to know the bike and then take your honey for a spin and she will love it. Since you are not in a huge hurry to get one you should be able to find some really nice deals out there. I found my 01 in a guys basement parked in its own room like 4 years ago with 17,000 miles on it. Got it for $7000. It was repainted with the flames and bunch of chrome to. Richie R

We rode a few HDs Ultra classics and they have a little smaller cockpit than the victory. What I have seen on the XC is they get better mileage with the stage one kit than they do stock. My friends that have victorys are always in the low to mid 40s for mileage. They are a pretty nice bike though.

I have ridden the vision and xc in stock form the power is pretty good but with stage one the power is way better. Both bikes at parking lot speeds are better then my venture. Even on twisty roads it handles nicer than my venture. The dealer is a buddy of mine and he lets me take just about anything for a big ride. There is less room in the cockpit on both bikes then the venture and the boss pointed it out right away and her and I are not big by no means. She is 5'1" 115# and Iam 5'11" 195#. The fact that both bikes don't chirp like mine is great. I think the xc looks cool but my wife likes the look of the HD Ultra Classic better and we have ridden a few 2011s and 2012 of them to. Just wish mother yamaha would pull their heads out of their a$$es and wake up.
