  1. I want to thank all who responded, I have printed out what you have said so I wont forget what I wanted to say to the dealer. I will check Tuesday when I go back to the dealer and try to get some pictures. Ken
  2. That's what I thought, but these are 4, 2 on one side and 2 on the other, at the same place on the piston. Which leads me to believe that it is a material breakdown. Ken
  3. About a month ago, maybe longer I posted hearing noise coming from my '04 RSV. The Yamaha dealer has had my trike for almost 3 weeks now. They have had the Yamaha rep out who thought it was a gas problem without listening to it. When he heard it he told the dealer to tear it down. What they found was the left cylender piston had 4 up and down scratches on it. 2 on each side of the piston. I asked the dealer how this could happen and he has told me that they don't know. This is the best engine that they have. They are now waiting until tuesday when the rep will be back and they decide what they are going to do. The bike has 2 more months left on the warranty. The bike has 32K on it. The dealer has told me that he is trying to get Yamaha to pay for some of the repairs, but I would have to pay for the bearings in the lower unit if I wanted to replace them. He has told me that I might as well since the engine is torn down. He also said that Yamaha is fighting paying labor for having to remove some of my trike kit to get to the engine. Of course my thinking is - - If the engine hadn't gone sour, the trike kit would not have had to be removed. I'm going to try to go back to the dealer and get some pictures of the piston if they let me. If I get them, then I'll post them here. I was talking to a man yesterday on a ride I was on who's son has a Suzuki and the same thing happen to him. He said that it was a lack of oit getting to the piston. I don't know if this is my problem or not. If it is, I would think that Yamaha would have to pick up the whole tab. of course I'm hoping for anything that would benifit me. Any ideas out there? 4. I thought it was one of the best movies that Clint has made. Just plain Great!! Ken:backinmyday:
  5. Thanks for the reply, I take it into the dealer next tuesday and let them decide what they are going to do. I agree regarding the warranty part. They should take care of it. Dale I'll check regarding what weight of oil was used, thanks for that also. I appreciate the returns on my question. Ken 1 - UP:bang head:
  6. My RSV has developed a knocing noise in the engine. I'm affraid that it is a rod, The Yamaha dealer in Titusville, FL thinks that it might be also. I asked him if it was covered under my warranty. Which expires March 18th this year. He said that he would have to call Yamaha. He called me backe yesterday and told me that I would have to start a work order and that they would have to tear into it and see what it is before Yamaha would agree to anything. Never had a problem with the bike before, so I don't know if this is a normal thing with Yamaha or not. I took it back to the place where I have all the oil changes. He asked me to because if it was something that they did, he wanted to stand behind it, and would pay for everything and give me a lifetime of oil changes free. His top machanic, who also raced bikes for Yamaha, said that it either was the "chain basket" (What every that is) or the "cam chain tensioner", (I don't know what that is either. does that tell you how much I know about engines) I wanted to know if anyone else has had problems like I am having? If so, what they found it out to be. Thanks, Ken, 1 - UP
  7. Thanks Steve, I was wondering when the dates were. Saved me from doing the research. I'm thinking about the breakfast, but I haven't made up my mind as of yet. Ken 1 - UP
  8. Gunny, When they put my trike together they also set my speedometer by gps. I notice when I go through a construction zone where they monitor your speed that mine is the same as the "board" posted. It's nice to know that your on the "button" when it comes to your speed. Some of my former brother and sisters don't give when it comes to construction zones. Which is what it should be. 1 - UP Ken
  9. Roadkill, I paid $14,700 for mine. I had some extras added like the floor boards etc. and I had it installed. Thats for a Hannagan. They are out of KY. I had it installed in IN. 1 - UP Ken
  10. Very nice looking trike. Welcom to the "Trike World". Mine is also a Hannagan and I love it. I had the e-z steer added, but I also put some risers on it and it made it a lot better. You might try that also. Until I put the risers on I found myself pushing down on the bars when I turned. The risers took care of that. I now find myself hanging in there with the two wheels in turns. These things are fun. Just think, you don't have to look for a place where your kickstand wont sink into the dirt when you park. When you come to a stop you don't have to put your feet down. Comes in handy when you are on a hill. Just remember you don't have a reverse and when you are going to park you will have to plan how you pull into the parking spot. However these bikes are not that hard to push backwards unless you are trying to go up an incline. Have fun and let us know how you are doing. Hope to see you at the '09 Tail of the Dragon. 1 - UP KKen
  11. I need to get rid of some parts that have been sitting around in my garage since July. These parts are for the 2nd Gen's. and they are the folling: Two saddle bags, Rear tire(including rim), Rear Axle and nut, Disk Rear Brake, Caliper Assy for the Rear. Saddle bag guards, Stay for muffler, Stay for muffler (small) As you can guess they are the result of triking my bike. Any one interested let me know and I'll send you pictures of the article you want. I have the price of what these things cost new, but I know I'll never come close to those prices. Make me an offer that I can take to the bank. I need a "bail out"! Actually I need the room in my garage back. Ken

I'm just across the state from you by the Space Center. Port St. John. Welcome to Florida. Ken:178:
  13. Have to agree with Rich. I have been there 4 times, loved it every time. Still haven's seen everything in Branson. Just plan on having a good time and expect the desire to come back in the future. I missed the dates on this one. Can you give them to me again. Thanks, Ken:banana:
  14. Having been in Law Enforcement for 37 years, I know that we don't chase unless it's for a serious felony. It appeared to me that the officer was sitting there waiting for the bike to go by. At the end of the tape you can hear the officer tell the suspect to drop the gun before telling him to get on the ground. Therefore The officer had knowledge that the suspect had a gun or used a gun in commision of a crime. This just wasn't a chase for a traffic violation. Also I would mention that the other officer at the end of the tape mention a shot being fired (I think, I couldn't hear very well due to the noise). Chasing a motorcycle is not fun, I totaled a brand new 74 Chry chasing a motorcycle in a head on crash. Any chase is not fun. You take on a lot of responsibility in doing so. As for the bike being a HD, I have to agree. Not a Yahama. Now we know why some of our Law Enforcement agencies are moving to other makes of bikes. Ken:detective:
  15. Lewis, With all that traveling you are going to be doing to catch up with that gift, maybe you better hope it's a "gas card"!!!!!!!!!!! What ever it is, I'm sure that the "Squid" has come up with another good one. Ken:mo money:
  16. Tom, Congrats, Your getting the same kit that I got last July. I love mine and I'm sure that you'll love yours. Good luck. Ken:thumbsup:
  17. I told dmoff that if need be, I would bring it up to Indianapolis, IN where I have family. It would give me a chance to see my sons again. So if anybody is interested let me know. Ken
  18. I live over by the Space Center near Titusville. I have a doctor's appt in the morning, I'll be home in the afternoon. Thanks for the interest. Ken
  19. No I never took pics of the inside. As for what it weighs, I would guess I'm pulling around or close to 400#'s, that's with the air cond. and TV and extra chairs and the cooler full and a 2 gal gas can. You can go to www.timeouttrailer.com and go to Time Out campers and get more infromation. They use to have a video on how to put the camper up. The trailer is rated at around 2,000#'s I think. Ken
  20. I'll try again Ken
  21. Due to medical problems I'm selling my camper. It's a '07 "TIME OUT" Camper with a 12x12 screen room. It has an air cond. cooler, extension cords, table , queensize air mattress, fan, rechargable lantern, The trailer has electric brakes (I never used them) and LED tail lights. I'm asking $3800.00 for it. I really haven't used it that much. See pics Ken
  22. Ruffrider, It was good meeting you. Sorry about not heading out with you to the M&E, but like you said I was riding with another group and had already made plans. I don't know about you, but I found that things were a little on the "thin" side when it came to vendors this year! At least it was on the South side of Daytona. I really didn't want to go downtown, I have had enough of messing with all the people. Must be an "age" thing. Ken:thumbsup2:
  23. Seems like the older I get the longer it takes to put it up. I swear it gets bigger every time I put it up. Ken:backinmyday:
  24. Thanks Sarges46 and RandyA. I would have had more pictures, but when your "1 - up" it's hard to take pictures all the time. I wish I could have gotten some pics when riding the twisties on 421. Who knows Lewis might have gotten back in the saddle and headed north with me. Heading to Sanford, FL this Saturday for Octoberfest for bikes. Maybe I can get some more pictures. Ken:178:
  25. Back from my trip to Indiana. I want to thank Lewis and his wife for letting me stay with them. They are truely nice people and will go out of their way to make you feel at home. I left Florida on the 8th of September and headed over to the turnpike and then on to US 27 north. After I left Lewis and his wife I headed up north and when I got into TN I stopped at Alvin C. York's house. I always wanted to stop and visit the home of the WW1 Medal of Honor Winner. I was lucky enough to be there when his son was giving a tour of the home. My second night it was raining and I hate to put up my camper in the rain, so, it was motel time. I stayed in Danville, KY. Coming up from TN I had been on US 127 ALT and it was a nice road with some twisties. But, when I got to Frankfort, KY I hopped on 421 and headed up north. Boy, I swear I could see the tail lights of my camper a couple of times. It was like being on the "Tail" all over again. Just a longer ride. I stayed on 421 and crossed the Ohio River into Indiana at Madison. Madison is a very nice "older" city. At Madison I stayed at Cliffy Falls State Park. Set up camp right nexr to a 40 foot motor coach. After I got set up the people in the coach came over and told me that they could not believe that my set up came out of something so small. While in Indiana (Indianapolis) I attended my cousin's reunion and my 45th high school reunion. The high school reunion was my first since I got out of school. Guys, its the only place that you can walk up and look at a woman's chest and not get slapped. (We had our name tags on with our high school senior pictures on them so we would know who we were talking to. I still think I had someone's elses picture on my name tag!) The last of September I headed down to Lawrenceburg, IN and assisted in training Police dogs (104 teams) for a week. On October 3rd I headed home in the afternoon. After the Work Shop I was tired and realy just wanted to get home. I got down to Austin, TN where I stayed the night. I left Austin at a quarter to seven and headed home. Somewhere around Knoxville, TN I picked up a BMW, 2 up and they followed me to the Florida border. They were from Arcadia, FL and coming from Nashville, TN. I was nice to have someone follow me and to talk to when I stopped at a rest area. I got home around 9 PM Saturday night and boy was I tired. I traveled over 2400 miles, and the tirke preformed great. I want to thank those who gave me infromation on the route I took up to Indiana, I had a nice ride. Ken
