Kent, Glad that you made it home safe and sound. Well, maybe safe anyway. I lost my back seat on the way home, if you hear of anyone that might have one let me know. It was good meeting you and thanks for your help. Ken

On the way home from Vogel my rear seat cushion (seat) came off somewhere between the Florida line and Valdosta, GA. Does anyone out there have a passenger seat for a second gen? I need one. Ken:fingers-crossed-emo

Lewis, You did a good job! Thank you and your wife. Also want to thank all those who gave you a hand pulling this thing off. Not one person could have done it alone. I had a great time, and I think I showed some of those two wheels what a three wheeler could do on the "Dragon". Thanks to B2BomberDad for taking the "senior" ladies for a ride. I haven't seen smiles like that in a long time. Just to let those of you that could not make it this year. A good time was had by all. Well, maybe not by all, there was one who was camping and had his helmet on his bike with his gloves. Thanks to a "local" (bear) he lost his gloves. His new name goes something like this. "Bearman who walks with a limp". Ken:thumbsup2:

I have to agree with everything said here. It was the best thing that I could have done which allows me to still ride. The gas mileage was reduced to 35mpg. I guess it's going to depend on what rear end you get with the kit. I have the Hannigan also and paid extra to have it installed by someone who knew what they were doing. Mine is also raked, but I also put one and a half inch risers on. This helped me from pushing down on the bars when making a turn. You might want to think about that. It will take a couple of weeks to get use to it. It did for me. But I would not give it up for anything. (Now that it is running like new) [No fault of the tirke kit] You will learn to pick your spots to park so you wont have to back in. But if you have to, as has been said, it is easy to push backwards. And yes, I do smile a lot when people look at it. Just do it and have fun. Think about it. You don't have to put your foot down when you stop on a hill!!!! Ken:cop:

Thanks for the pictures, it's always nice to see what others are doing. Looks like you had a good time. Ken:pushups:

Dan's Cycle Sales was the one who did the Trike kit on my bike in 08. I'm from Indy, been down in Florida the last 19 years. When they heard that I was having trouble with my engine and the way it was "fixed" down here they offered to take a look at it when I was up there. They did a great job fixing it and puting the power back to normal. I would recomend them to anybody. I use to go to Madison all the time to watch the boat races. Matter of fact I was there over the 4th of July to watch the races. These pictures should bring back some memories. Ken:thumbsup2:

Thanks Richard, I've sent you an e-mail with my address. I would like that very much. You sure got some nice riding areas down there. I do like to see historical places. Ken

I'm hoping to be back in Indiana the last week in Sept and the first week of Oct training dogs. But, that's not a sure thing yet. If I go I'll bring my trike back up. I'd like to ride the countryside and see the change in the trees. And yes, Doe Run Inn had some very nice home cooked food. I would advise anybody that rides in that area to visit that place. We rode down from Indianapolis to Seymoure then took 135 down into Kentucky to the Inn and then on to Fort Knox. I don't know the road that we took east, but we ended up just south of Madison, IN. Very nice roads, had a great time. The trip ended up to be 350 miles. Ken

Ruffy, it was a shame that I had to go that far to get my bike fixed, but I'm sure glad I did. I feel good about riding again. Lewis, believe me I tried. It's hard to pry him away from all those grandkids. Go ahead and try. I know that they got a lot of rain a couple of days ago and he said that he had water standing where there has never been water before. I did get him to ride on those sundays that I rode with Gary from Dan's Cycle. Here are some more pictures of my Indiana trip. Ken

My trip to Indiana June and July, '09. Took my bike up to Dan's Cycle in Seymoure, IN and had it FIXED. It now runs like new. Gary at Dan's said that one cylender in front and one in back were not timed right. Also that two valves were not seating right and that they could have been damage. All that was taken care of. And he got Yamaha to take care of those problems even though it was out of warrenty. He blamed it on the work done under warrenty. Thanks Yamaha. While there I went on several rides with the owner of Dan's Yamaha, and his son Gary. I have tried to down load a picture of what the tirke looks like now. who know how it will turn out. I rode over a thousand miles in 4 Sundays while up there. They sure know how to treat a misplaced Yankie! Being down here in Florida I forgot how nice it was to have hills to ride up and down. And they have trees too with real leaves. Not all these so called trees with needles on them. Hope to see you all at the "Tail" Ken

What kind of rear end do you have on the trike? The one that they put on mine is a small lincoln. When it was a two wheel I got between 45 and 47. I dropped down to 35 when I triked it. Ken:confused24:

Had a good time, it was nice meeting some of the people that I now can put a face to a "handle" on this site. Food was good. Ate too much! Bikes looked good. Had "one foreign" bike there, I think it was from the country of "HD". If you decide not to make it in the middle of the state, there is a nice place to go just south of Holapaw off of 441 south of 192. It's called Forever Florida. http://www.floridaecosafaris.com/index.php I believe it's a 4700 acre ranch. It has a very nice "Mess Hall", the food is good and it sits about a 1/2 mile off the road. It was nice meeting up with you all. Ken

I'm waiting for my bike to be repaired, if I get it back today or tomorrow (Sat) I'll head up that way from Cocoa. I would like to meet some of you guys. I'll try to bring a fellow RSV rider (he just bought an '09, I hope he has taken possession of it) and maybe a "Wing" rider if you all don't mind. I'm trying to get the RSV rider to join the "Site". Ken:cry:

I got my trike back 2-28, late afternoon. On the way home I noticed that the neutral light does not come on when in neutral. Also the OD light does not come on when in 5th gear. The curise control does not stay on. I went back to the dealer on 3-3 at 0900, the time that they open, and their first day to open after the weekend. They told me that they were too busy to do anything now and to call and make an apt. (After I paid just short of $2K to get it fixed) I made a call to a friend of mine and was told that the switch, or connection for the neutral light and maybe the OD light is behind the cover on the left side of the bike at the foot shifter. Before I get started on this task I wanted to ask you guys who might have had some type of problem like this for your help. Any ideas? or pictures? so I'll have some idea of what I'm doing. I'm all done with this dealer and begining to compose a letter to Yamaha. Ken:fingers-crossed-emo

I want to thank all of you that responded to my problem. I appreciate the questions that you asked of me. I inturned went to the dealer today and asked them the questions that you had posted. I'm almost satisfied with Yamaha and what they are doing. I found out that all 4 pistons were scored, that the dealer is boring out all four cylinders and putting in oversize pistons. I called the Yamaho dealer who put my trike kit on and talked to him about the Hannigan kit and whether or not they have had problems with the kit causing engine problems with the Yamaha. He told me no that they have not. He also rides a RSV with a Hannigan trike kit on it for a couple of years and has had no problems. The belief is, that the oil was not getting into the cylinders in the proper amount. The cause of that is unknown. Every thing looked Ok. It might have been the type of oil that I was using. (Golden Spectro, sp, which is a blend) Anyway, I'll pay the $$$$ and have my bike back in a couple of weeks. They have to wait for the pistons to get in to make sure they bore out the cylinders the right size. Again Thanks for all the response, it's nice to belong to a large family like this to vent your problems to. Ken,

There is 2 more months to go on the warranty. The dealer called me yesterday and told me that Yamaha is not going to cover the hole thing. They will cover $1500 of a $3387 repair bill. They said the the Trike kit was the cause of the wear on the engine. Gee, I got the tirke kit in July of '08. I put 5K on it since then. To answere another question, the engine started to make a noise that sounded like my old 55 chevy when I had a lifter starting to stick. The dealer told me to call Yamaha's Customer Service and see if they could help me. Why does someone have to do that, why doesn't Yamaha stand behind what they say without having to almost go to court. I have had Yamaha's since '66, never had anything else. Wonder how much a new engine cost? Ken

Just this one as far as I know. The dealer only showed me this one. Ken

Today I was called by the dealer who is fixing the engine in my bike. He told me that he had some bad news for me. The Yamaha rep told him that Yamaha is not going to stand behind fixing my bike because it had been triked and has a trailer hitch on it. The dealer told me that he is going to call the rep on Tuesday and talk to him and see if he can change his mind. It that doesn't work he will then call the rep's boss and see what he can get done. The dealer told me that I'll probable have to call Yamaha Customer Service sometime in the middle of the week and see if I can get them to do something about fixing the engine. The problem is with the piston. It has 4 marks on it that are on oppisit sides these run verticle from just under the top of the piston to the bottom. I'll try to attach a picture of the piston. I've had Yamaha all my life. Looks like this will be my last. Ken
