  1. Turned 66 last month. Started riding scooters at 12. RSV is my 8th Yamaha. Great bike. Put 13,000 miles on her in the past 6 months. Plan on riding for at least 10 more years.
  2. Scooter had 29,582 on it when the fuel pump was replaced. First time it quit was at 24000. Next at 27000. Each time I had ridden less than 10 miles from the house. RSV is 2006. I'm grateful I was not on the side of a mountain in Colorado.
  3. I know this has been beat on before but let me beat on it more. RSV quit running 3 times. Waited 15 minutes and it started. Ran another 1000 miles or more and did it again. Read about the problem on this forum. Told the dealer what I already knew and he agreed to call Yamaha to inquire. I got a new fuel pump under warranty. He won't tell what Yamaha said. Like Willie said I'm "on the road again" so I'm happy. Thanks for the information.
  4. I have the same problem. I had the Baron's kit installed before I picked up my new (to me) Venture and have not regretted it one bit. Also had the 1 1/2" pull backs. I read some posts that say it hurts the handling of the bike. But I love it. It's your bike - Do what you need.
  5. Sorry we missed out but we were busy. Got a call Thursday evening from Tulane Hospital. We had to rush down for the wife's kidney transplant. Always something with women, you know. Anyhoo, she is doing well and hopes to be home by the weekend. All seriousness aside we are very grateful and thanks in advance for your prayers. jerry
  6. Buy it and have a good time. I agree with Squidley. If you get it for less than $2000, you're getting a good deal. I have an Aspen (similar) and it is a great camper. Big enough for the entire family and easy to set up. Pulls easy at 70-75 mph.
  7. I went to the Honda dealer and bought a tube of moly60 - 3 oz for $10. Had the maniac dab it on the splines of the drive shaft and on the pins of the pumpkin. No more moise from the rearend. Cheap insurance.
  8. Hey, Wes 0778, how about Hattiesburg cycle at 9:00 am? We could ride on down from there. Look for a black cherry 2006 rsv with a greybeard standing nearby.
  9. I can be there, It's only a 100 miles from my wife's house. She lets me stay there as long as I keep the grass mowed and the dog fed.
  10. I went to the dealer armed with printouts from the forum and asked the mechanic to pull the rear drive and grease it with Honda moly-60, which I supplied. BTW, I found the Honda dealership to be very helpful. Anyhoo, I test rode the beast and she is great. No more noise from the rear. Now I need to put miles on her. Again, thanks for the help. I love this bike and this group.
  11. I got my 2006 RSV. I'm 65 (almost 66) so this will be my last scooter. Hope the younger riders have as good a bike to ride then they get to be a senior citizen but I'm happy that I'm still riding.
  12. I'll tear into it this weekend. Boy, this is a great bunch! I'm new to the RSV but it's my 8th Yamaha and I plan to put at least 100,000 miles on her before I limp off into the sunset. Or trike her out...
  13. I'm hearing a clicking sound from the rear end when I slow for a traffic light or stop sign. Checked the oil and it's full. Should I pull the drive shaft and check it? She's a 2006 with 22,000 miles.
  14. Looks like an old travelite. The basic design was sold under several names - napper, for example. Weighs about 300 pounds. Neat little camper. The bed takes up the entire inside when laid out. But a good inexpensive way to get into motorcycle camping off the ground. Should sell for $800 tops. The Komplact Kamp is a much better choice top start out. Just my 2 cents.
  15. Five of us fools made the trip last September. Camped on the North Rim. Beautiful country. Sore butts but bragging rights. Your route sounds more enjoyable than our straight line from Texas to Arizona. Will go again in a few years. Thanks for the good pix. Keep on ridin'.
  16. Thanks for posting the RSV wire colors. I used the information to wire up my trailer plug. It also helped me straighten out the mess the previous owner of the trailer had made of the trailer wiring. I'm ready to ride - and pull.
  17. Got my hitch from venturedad before he had time to get my check. great guy to deal with. Took me 20 minutes to install it.
  18. Picked it up yesterday. Rode for one hour after work and 20 minutes this morning. Sat and watched the rain rest of the time. Love the bike, though.
  19. Thanks, guys. Wow! this is a great bunch. Got my question answered in less than an hour.
  20. I gotta ask what is a progressive air pump and where can I get one? I'm picking up my new (to me) 2006 RSV tomorrow so I'll have lots more questions soon. Thanks.
  21. I just made trade - the 03 Road Star for an 06 Venture. I put 76,000 fun miles on the RS and look forward to putting more on the Venture. Black cherry. I'll have pix soon as I take delivery this weekend. I'm having the Barons risers and a lowering kit put on to take of my inseam challenge and short arms:Cartoon_397:.
  22. That was fast. Thanks, starrider60
  23. I have to admit I goofed when I signed in using my real name. I wanted to use my usual bike site name of starrider60, but I blew it. Can you get me out of the jam I put myself in? Thanks, starrider60
  24. When I returned to riding in 2002 I also re-discovered camping. Now I can't get enough. I make two long trips a year with a cousin from Texas. We started riding together at 12 years old. We pack everything on the bikes and tent camp at state and national parks and KOA's for 6 or 7 days. Colorado's our favorite place to ride. Made a run to the Grand Canyon last year. Got sore butts and bragging rights. I pull a 2003 Aspen Classic throughout the southern states and camp at least once a month year round. I plans to retire next year and really get in some miles. Jerry
