That looks nice!!! My first bow was a #45 fiberglass Bear recurved. I took many rabbits, some quail and coyotes with it. My second bow was a long bow made from lemon wood that I made in shop in the 7th grade, the only thing it killed was targets. I picked up a Browning recurved in a trade in High School that I used to deplete the wild dog and coyote population on the ranch I worked at. My first compound (Bear LTD). I got at my first duty station in the USAF and got lots of deer with it, lost that in a divorce. Right now I have a Bear Grizzly II hanging on a nice whitetail rack on the wall but have not shot it for years. Wish that bow was for me. Rod

Try here for more info. http://viragotechforum.com/phpBB/portal.php I have not had any starter problems with my 98 1100. My first thought is to make sure that all the parts are smooth, straight and lubed. Sounds to me like something is binding, make sure the gears are not mushroomed. Good luck Rod

No there is not a pump on the stock carbs. Good choice of bike, I love mine. Rod

Oh nooooooooooo the pond monster has learned to swim in that white, hard water stuff; what do you call it??? Oh yea snow!?! I guess you northern guys need to lock up the wimmen folk and sharpen the harpoons!! Or you can run south to the shelter of your smarter southern friends who don't have the problem and ride all year. Ever helpful Rod

I wish you good luck cleaning the MM saddle. I never found anything that would clean them up. In retrospect coating them when they were new would have helped; hindsight is 20/20. If you find something that works let us know. Rod

This is the reason to have a .50 cal. (or BIGGER). This is a case for the bigger the gun the better and gun control. Rod

Biker shot in back. Shooter claims self defense

Justice is served. I hope the wife and daughters learned something but I doubt it. Rod -
I met AKRefugee (Keven) Saturday and we had a good ride with some Friends of mine. What started as a ride for 3 bikes ended up with 6 bikes and 10 people. The weather was great not too cold just brisk. It looks like I may have a new riding partner during the weekdays. Thanks Rod

The VFR and FJR are very popular internationally recognized police bikes every where out side of the US. If you rode one you would know why. Rod

I agree with what was posted. An electric impact and generator (if no power) is well worth the $$. Lay down a tarp or something to keep you and parts clean and take your time. Good luck Rod

I use the harbor freight lift table (with the foot pump). It works very well. I have not had a problem with it. Rod

Pros & cons of ABS and linked braking systems
rod replied to dharnie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
On the MSF Instructor list there was just a good discussion on this. It seemed to be a split decision over all on the ABS. On low traction quick stops the ABS shines; under normal stooping it can kick in when not needed hitting a bump or small oil patch etc.) I don't like the linked brakes, I like to use just the rear in some situations. No matter what you have practice is the best solution. I don't remember the last time I lock up the rear on my RSV. I practice all the time and I agree that leaving your heel on the floorboard helps. There are a lot of ghost towns in Az. I had some friends go looking for some one time and even with a map and directions they could not find them. You can check here: http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/az/az.html Most that I have seen can only be accessed by dirt bike or 4x4. Good luck with your hunt. Rod

Sedona and Grand canyon can only be appreciated in person, pic and films won't do them justice. The surrounding areas are also very nice. The South West has much better if you know where to look. Did you get to the Oak Creek (?) look out? Native American artisans sell some fantastic jewelry just outside Sedona (look out for the tourist junk). We stay at the Vista Motel very biker friendly and the price is right. Rod

Sorry Squid but I disagree. Lowering the front 5/8" did wonders for the low speed handling of my bike. Demo rides teaching the ERC I scrape a little sooner but normal riding I do not see a big change in groud clearance. Before I hit the back of the floorboard (where the steel plate is), now it hits at the front of the wear plate under the floor board. When I do the 20' u turn box is the only time I notice the change of ground clearance. Rod

On a good break in there will be fine metal grains. Big flakes are BAD NEWS. Good luck, I wish you the best. Rod

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the guy you bought from is a dumb ass. There should not be chunks of metal in a good break in. Good thing the V4 is pretty bullet proof. Good luck but I would not trust that motor. Rod

No problem. We had a good time and were glad to meet you. I had to take Rose on a ride yesterday because she was jealous that she did not get to go Friday. The weather was perfect and no wind. Rod

My first bike was a 1970 2 stroke twin Yamaha Scrambler. It had over 15 hp so was freeway legal. A friend found one on Craig's list a couple of weeks ago but I do not have the money to buy it. In our garage at the time I got my license: 1967 Yamaha 250 Big Bear (2 stroke twin) 1969 Honda 450 1972 RD 350 1970 125 (2 stroke twin) 1972 ? RD 200 We toured on these bikes all over California with our back packing gear strapped on the back. Rod

He did say he would like a 2 gen. So I would say he liked it a lot! He noted better wind protection with my bike and over all comfort. Rod

Well we had a good day. I picked up Bill and had to go by the training range for a few minutes of work. While there Bill got a helmet that fit him and we were off to my house to get the bikes. Bill rode the Venture and I took the Virago. Minor problem, bad battery on the Virago so we bump started it. The plan was to go east to the desert but at lunch in Patrero found there were high winds that direction. Jump started the Virago and went back down hwy94. We stopped by the Lyons Valley Trading Post so he could meet Black Jack. We got home and had a nice visit and dinner before I took him back to the ship. Thanks Bill I had a good time.
